Raiders Draft Update: Did we just draft Cliff Branch and Rod Woodson?
As much as Al likes to trip the light fantastic, I believe that this draft may be the worst of All-Time.
Heyward-Bey and Mr. Mitchell may prove me wrong, but this has GOT to be the Worst draft in NFL History.
To go from a potential Monroe - Barwin draft to Bey and Mitchell has got to be the worst value to value trade of all time.
I am ready to soak tears with more tears...This stinks...I said it...So go ahead and dump your thoughts here....

I agree...I've been depressed all day.
I have so much shit to do and all I’ve been able to do all day is watch the draft, shaking my head at all the talent we’ve left on the board…this is really horrible, man.
As a jaguars fan, I send my deepest sympathies. Seriousily though, is Al Davis smoking crack or something? Who is this Mitchell guy?
He wasn’t even projected to be drafted. I’ll say what I said on a different comment.
Mitchell wasn’t even projected to be drafted. I’m not all that upset about Heyward-Bey, but we definitely should’ve traded down to get him. Again, taking Mitchell is just absolutely absurd with Paul Kruger and Connor Barwin sitting right there. We had by far the worst draft tonight and arguably the worst draft in the history of sport. Period. There is nothing the team can do tomorrow to change that. It’s an "F" grade tonight and it will be regardless of what transpires tomorrow.

All we can do is
wait and see how it pans out. Mitchell models himself after Jack Tatum.

As a Miami Dolphin fan
I also send my condolances and hope for the best. This is a terrible thing to say, but you guys may be better off if Davis just..kicks the bucket

My Wish Tonight - Following The 1st Two Rounds of the 2009 NFL Draft
Everynight before I go to sleep I say my own rendition of the famous poem from childhood.
star light, star bright,
first star I see tonight.
I wish I may, I wish I might,
have this wish I wish tonight.
And if I may or if I might
I wish that star would be a meteorite.
And fall to earth to Al Davis Smite
This is my First Wish Everynight!
Raiders Fan for 35 Years…For the first 30 Years Al was Crazy Genius, for the last 8 years he has just been Crazy. Please God Kill Him Now

Both picks were inexcusable.
I was starting to think that Al Davis was starting to try to let his personnel make decisions since we didn’t spend stupid money on bad free agents, but this draft has obviously proved me wrong.
Gotta have talent if you are going to turn this team around.
The more you try to erase me, the more that I appear.
Not all bad
As far as WR’s go i would rather have DHB than Crabtree. Also, Maclin I believe is just Higgins 2.0.
As for Mitchell, they must have really liked him when he came in and worked out.
You have to understand that the scouting staff has a better understanding for these guys than we do. I think DHB is going to surprise people, and Mitchel, I just don’t know.
Just HIT somebody.
DHB rather than Crabtree???
…then you got your wish. You might be the only person in the country who feels this way, other than Al.
I like how the ESPN crew was completely humored by the Mitchell pick, as they looked in their draft guides for this guy.
I like DHB better than that Arrogant Crabtree.
we just did ourselves a favor.
as for the mitchell pick. yeah, there goes good old AL again! LOL …We are used to it
"May the wind be at our back, here comes the Silver and Black "
yeah..
somewhat disappointing.. but looking at his highlight reel… the boy can hit… and cover.. should be interesting.

Calm down Saint
I suggest you go over to Raiders.com, and listen to the 3 interviews that Cable had on that site. He says what I have been saying for 3 months, Crabtree and Maclin are products of a system which does not translate into the NFL. He goes on to say that Heyward-Bey played 3 years in a pro system and is much further along in his development than either Crabtree or Maclin. As for Mitchell, he said that he was the guy they have been targeting for about 3 weeks. It is quite clear that the Raiders are drafting for their needs, not necessarily the best player from some other position. Just remember that half the guys you like or wish we had drafted will wash out or be awful busts, and some of the guys you have never heard of before will become stars. That is the nature of the draft. We also added two additional draft picks which might help the team, not to mention the undrafted free agents we always sign.
Bey had 13 TD's...Crabtree Had 41...
But when they start scheming us the way these guys did, and we weren't particularly ready for it, anything can happen."

Draft reminds me of Fabian Washington/Stanford Routt draft
over drafted guys who are track stars.
Hopefully they turn out but god damn it draft DHB in round 2 and Mitchell in the 4th if you loved them that much.
IMO this is the what else could we have had draft
well
if you think about it… these same people all had gallery as being a perenial probowler before he stepped on an nfl field… go figure.

Umm...
And he would have been, had we not decided to move him around and bounce coordinators/coaches. We created a losing culture and nearly ruined him, but he’s playing a lot better lately, so let’s not go ahead and call him a bust yet.

Anyone who thinks was a good draft is seriously mistaken
I don’t care if these two guys were the Number 1 & 2 on the Raiders board, we wasted our draft picks. 1st we could have traded our number 1 down into the late 1st and collected at minimum a 3rd round pick and still gotten Bey. As far as Mitchell is concerned he was so far off the radar that we could have picked him up on late on Sunday and be address one of our several other needs. Even if they both end up being probowlers this was still the worst draft management I have ever seen. Please don’t misunderstand me I love the Raiders that why today was so painful.
Again, tonight’s draft may have been the worst draft in the history of sport.

orakpo was still on
raji was there
the biggest need for the raiders
in d-line couldn’t been addressed
first day but NNOOOOOOOooooooooo!!!!
make the pain go away
ugg, dhb? how about james jett 2.0?
mitchell? god, of course you root for the guy and really any player the raiders draft, but the second round? and to think, we were so close to get maualuga. oh well, all i wanted this time last year was some ray rayso i guess i’ll start pining after usc’s saftey mays or whatever his name is. god knows we’ll probably have a high enough pick if we truly want him. that and i seriously doubt that having mitchell, huff and branch on our roster will stop the raiders from in fact draft him if they really have a chance to do so. god, please prove me wrong on these picks. i want to eat crow so badly…
Que Pena!!! Que Pena!!!!

ASAP....
Please everybody, watch his youtube video. He is a beast. Also check out the interview that Tom Cable gives on raiders.com. He explains why we went after him so early. I’m still mad, but if he can do the things on that video in the NFL, he is going to be a big help in the secondary.
I dont care if he is a hall of famer
fact is no one wanted him that early, we could have gotten so much more from the pick and still got DHB. Al seems to want to defy convention and be a rebel rather than make sense,
This kid is the bomb...
and I have to admit that I know nothing about him (Mitchel). However, after watching that highlught reel I have to say the following:
1. He reads plays well. Look at the highlights. He seems to be in the right place all the time.
2. He hits HARD. Look at those hits! I mean, this guy is only going to get better and it’s going to hurt someone and that’s exactly what we need.
I think he looks smart, fast and a hard hitter. Exactly the kind of guy we thought we had last year with Wilson.
Oh, and he can play both FS and SS by the look of that video. the “Real” Mike Huff please stand up?
Why are you guys hating on our picks
Everybody is going to jump on the Heyward-Bey wagon when he starts doing good
and when he starts to struggle everyone will jump off
All I’m saying is “Don’t Judge A Book By Its Cover”
Give Darrius a chance to prove himself
Nnamdi Asomugha for '09 Pro Bowl!!!!!!
Thank you for the intellegent comment!
GO RAIDERS!
