At least we heard of him

Although if you look at the FLO receivers success in the NFL it doesn’t bode well.

Walter Footballs take on Norris FA ...

Slade Norris, Oregon State
Height: 6-2. Weight: 232.
Projected 40 Time: 4.63.
Pro Day 40 Time: 4.65.
Benchx225: . Vertical: . Broad: .
Projected Round (2009): FA.
12/6/08: At his size, nothing more than a situational pass rusher in the NFL. Slade Norris has a whopping 17 TFL and nine sacks to go along with his 52 tackles.

Let me ask the ????

1. Chaz
2. JLH
3. Javon
4. Shields
5. Watkins
6. Holland

Now: DHB & Murphy

So basically we are either cutting last years 4th rounder or this years.

Awesome

by Bud Light on Apr 26, 2009 10:45 AM PDT reply actions

Picking Murphy shocked me also

The last thing I thought we would pick is another WR. As you pointed out we are overstocked in WR’s already. It looks to me like the Raiders don’t think much of Shields. They are stuck with Walker for another year, doubt they care about Holland or Watkins, and clearly Carter will not be resigned.
Did anyone notice how quickly these picks were made? It is obvious the Raiders had already made up their minds who they wanted, very surprising picks.

by Laoren on Apr 26, 2009 10:52 AM PDT up reply actions

I Don't Get It

Where does Louis Murphy fit in? Why didn’t we just grab Sidbury? Why didn’t we just take Terrance Taylor? Brinkley? That MLB from TCU? This was the worst pick in the draft. Mark my words

He had 10 sacks last year.

Oregon State was no walk though last year ask USC… They have had a solid program since Mike Riley took that program over form Ericson. They are adding toughness that I like!

Targets

I think they are buying targets for Russell to hit. Trying to find a ‘chemistry’. Would not be surprised if a free agent or two showed up at camp, but they propably end up with six in the end. But I don’t know anything about Murphy yet or why they picked him in particular.

must be nice

Al must think we have no holes and can just waste picks and stockpile WRs…great draft! Glad our team isn’t any better through the draft…all we did was help out the rest of the league by pissing away all our picks.

Eh

I’d be lying if I said I wasn’t a bit disappointed, but the Raiders obviously didn’t want to bring in a new MLB. Thankfully, a bunch of the other LBs we discussed may not even get drafted at this point – Beckwith, Ellerbe, Follett, Joseph, etc.

Most Likely Draft: I don't even know anymore.

You guys better use Heyward-Bey the right way

He is from my school and is an amazing talent. Please dont make him a bust like the rest of the players you have drafted. I mean, you made Randy Moss fall of the face of the earth. RANDY MOSS.

Make Heyward-Bey deserve where he got drafted

You have to hate losing more than you love winning.

Let me ask you some question about him?

Is he as good as Tom Cable says?

Is he really underused at Maryland?

Do you think he is better than Crabtree or Maclin?

no, we gave Carolina

our #6 next year and our #7 this year, sounds like too much to give for a TE who may not even make the team. Will wait and hear from Cable on that.

by Laoren on Apr 26, 2009 2:54 PM PDT up reply actions

Stryker Sulak

Scouts Inc says:

2004: Missouri red shirts Sulak. 2005-’07: Sulak starts 25 of the 39 games he appears in accumulating 148 tackles including 21.5 tackles-for-loss and 12 sacks. Sulak also breaks up 11 passes, forces eight fumbles, recovers three fumbles and intercepts a pass. 2008: Sulak starts all 14 games accumulating 55 tackles including 15.5 tackles-for-loss and 10.5 sacks. He also breaks up six passes and forces six fumbles. Sulak earns second-team All-Big 12 honors in 2008.
Gives great effort and is relentless. Quick enough to turn the corner working against NFL right tackles and shows good closing speed However, doesn’t use hands well and needs to develop complementary pass rush moves.

Your team is your child...You love it no matter what.

by TheRaiderWay on Apr 26, 2009 2:21 PM PDT reply actions

Brandon Myers

Height: 6-4 | Weight: 250 | Position:TE | College: Iowa

Positives: Legitimate NFL build. Stout upper body. Good hand placement and upper body strength to assist in pass protection. Shows some balance and lateral quickness to mirror the defender. At least adequate initial quickness off the snap. Flexible enough to dip under the jam to gain a free release. Shows some burst out of his breaks and to gain separation. Not often given opportunities to catch passes in Iowa’s offense, but shows at least adequate hands for the reception. Can make the tough grab in traffic.

Negatives: Lacks the straight-line speed to challenge down the seam. While possessing at least adequate upper body strength, is not explosive. Can get fundamentally lazy when blocking laterally. Stops moving his feet, causing him to remain engaged at the line of scrimmage or in space. Lacks agility in space to make defenders miss.

Your team is your child...You love it no matter what.

by TheRaiderWay on Apr 26, 2009 2:33 PM PDT reply actions

I know you probably went over this but...

why did we trade our 2nd round pick to New England?… with that pick New England drafted Ron Brace… we should have kept that pick and drafted Brace ourselves

by gametime_gsw on Apr 26, 2009 2:43 PM PDT reply actions

With Terdell Sands being untradable

and doing that same basic thing as Brace, taking up space, there wasn’t a need there. Also, the team targeted a hard hotting safety from a small school that may be the next Great Hitting Raider Safety. I’ll take that and pick up another 6th and 4thRounder.

My problem is that we turned those picks into the dude from Airplane, Stryker, and a bag of Chips instead of players like Jasper Brinkley. And what about This guy from the East Bay who went to Pittsburgh.

I would not have taken a receiver in the fourth round or a tight end later on. Instead of taking Sulak, we should have gone with that defensive tackle from LSU. I know that’s just my opinion, though.

Wouldn’t had been funny if we had picked up the TE Zach Miller? In a two TE set we would have had Zach Miller on the right and Zach Miller on the left.

….anyways, that ZM has nothing on our ZM…
