A Silver and Black Ressurection? Thin line of Bliss and Oblivion
I want to start out by saying that I have been a Raider Fan since 1972...I was seven years old. The first thing I noticed were the colors...Silver and Black.
Now anybody who knows anything about a color chart knows that the colors black, white ,and gray are NOT colors...they are neutral, acchromatic colors. The Raider colors come from this(just a little Mc Nugget for thought).
The second thing I noticed were the players and how they looked tougher and more menacing than the other team they were playing.
From that game forward...I became a Raider fan...and have been since.
The reason why I became a Raider fan living in Rochester New York was because the Raiders embody for me the true nature of what football should be...Hard Nose...Creative...Blue Collar..."just win baby" football.
Al Davis is going against the grain in a BIG way again. I like that! We all know from this present recession that we can be duped into "drinkin' the kool-aid" of the status quo. The Raiders were built from the castaways of society...a TRUE motley crew if you know what I mean. It looks to me like we're going there again. It looks like we are building our OWN ship devoid of approval from the so-called experts. Looks like from these recent picks in the draft we are possibly watching the Raiders become THE RAIDERS again!...a rugged band of overlooked, hungry dudes lookin' for a ship to board and serve. These picks ARE risky, but isn't EVERYTHING RISKY THESE DAYS? Real greatness comes when you do it...and nobody sees it comin'!
Oh yeah, I mentioned earlier that Black,White, and Gray(Silver included) are NOT colors as we might think. These achromatics are in a class of thier own. I wonder if Al Davis had this in mind.
We will see very soon if we have a winning football team. What I DO know is that from what I saw at the end of the year...and what I see coming...The Black Hole will devour AFC WEST FLESH!!! I'm just happy as a longtime Raider fan to see the possibility of The Raiders BE The Raiders again.

1972, that's 37 years...
C’mon man, your not that old from the looks of your picture. You told me in the other post that you had 25 years. 12 yeas is a big difference, what is it?

I am 44 years old....FOR REAL!
I checked my other comment. I DID say 35yrs as a fan (rounded from the actual 37yrs). I know I don’t look my age…good genes…lot’s of olive oil and garlic in the diet… very little abuse on the body. If I said 25 yrs somewhere else…my apologies. To put some perspective on when I became a Raider fan,… O.J Simpson was runnin’ through fools at the old Rich Stadium in Buffalo N.Y ( just 80 miles to the west of ROC City N.Y)

No worries Vlad but...
yeah, I was talking to fogtown but you do look good for your age. I’m 36 and you look way better than me. I got more white hair than people in their forties…haha OJ Simpson, no shit! I don’t really care for that fool but he was a beast when he played.

I luv that clip of OJ knocked out by one of our LB's(can spell his name)
25yrs RAIDERS from BIRTH. I’ve been fortunate enough to grow up in what some call our hard times. I consider this time to be the period before greatness. Rep that white hair!!!!

Can or do you mean can't spell his name...
25 years from birth? Shit, that means the first five years don’t count because you didn’t even know what a football was. Shoots man, you weren’t even around for our last super bowl win back in 1983. No wonder you keep accepting losing and saying win, lose or tie, raiders till I die. It’s because you have seen us win yet.

good post
this is what is great about being a raider fan.
I love the crazy old man and I love going against the grain.
Everyone says these picks are risky but these are the same guys who couldnt decide who has a better player out of Payton Manning and Ryan Leaf – EVERY PICK is risky and I really believe that the raiders factored character into the picks, its one thing to have talent but these guys seem like leaders

I'm reccing this
great post.
i really didn’t like the draft at first, but now I really like it. Why? I’ll have post on that tomorrow, but this was definitely a good draft when you see it the way I see it. Believe it or not we got most of our needs covered. You know other than MLB and DT, but more on that tomorrow.

Nice Post
At first I hated Day 1 But seeing the mitchell video and reading his comments the kid has talent and heart and now has something to prove love his attitude As for DHB he has talent and has been told his whole football career he wasn’t good enough he didn’t give up and kept working harder and harder you gotta love that. You can’t teach speed, BUT route running and catching can be taught his success will depend on his work ethic and coaching.
Day 2 is another day picking high Character Players with a good work ethic But another WR I would have preferred a DT or MLB with good work ethic. One thing in common is we drafted these players for a reason there were definitely more talented players on the board in the 4th as with rounds 1-3 So Al and Cable may have a plan. We will see.

Dito
We picked hard-working guys and “selfless” guys as Cable always says, if they keep working in the offseason, we’ll be opening eyes with this years picks…
Just win, baby!

This Is A Great Post
It reunites us in a way. Everything was hell due to the draft. There were so many opinions and most of them were not met. This reunites us. Great Post.
