Frantz Joseph
Who is Frantz Joseph? O, I remember. He is the guy we just signed from the UDFAs. That's all. Wrong! This guy is one hell of a player. In fact, I wanted him in the fourth round of this year's draft, ahead of Jasper Brinkley. So, who really is Frantz Joseph?

- Stats
| Career Defensive Stats | ||||||||
| Year | GMS | UT | AT | TT | TFL | Sack | ||
| 2006 | 11 | 39 | 22 | 61 | 2.5-3 | 1.0-0 | ||
| 2007 | 13 | 64 | 67 | 131 | 12.5-26 | 2.0-13 | ||
| Total | 24 | 103 | 89 | 192 | 15-29 | 3.0-15 | ||
The stats speak for itself. In 2007, he made 131 tackles and 2006, made 61. He was the team captain his whole career at Florida Atlantic. I know the sack column is not very impressive, but due to his tag of team captain, he was prevented from blitzing.
- Character
When it comes to character, Frantz Joseph is the best. Did you know, he left Boston College, yes B.J Raji's college to play at Florida Atlantic. Why you ask? To support his mother. He left the prized education, fame, and his probably his 1st round pick at Boston College, to help out his mother. It doesn't get any better.
- Achievements
Where do I start:
1. Named to the 2008 Lombardi Award Preliminary Watch List
This award is something given to only the best of the best of individuals who line up on the defensive side and play on the line of scrimmage, or 5 yards deep. Although he didn't win, for someone to achieve the honor of being put on that list is great. Brain Orakpo won that award by the way. The reason he didn't receive this award was because of his college and conference.
2. Butkus Watch List Member
This award is given to the best of the best from the linebackers in the NCAA. I think the only reason he didn't receive this award is because of his school and his college division. Again, being mentioned for this award is enough.
3. Holds The Single-Season FAU Record For Tackles
This shows that he was the leader not only by voice, but also by work ethic and play making. Anyone who leads a team in tackles shows that they have what it takes to make it into the next level. So for all you doubters, he can make that big tackle.
4. Selected Phil Steele's Mid-Season All-Sun Belt Second Team
At mid-season, he was on the All-Sun Second Team. Not bad, but this could've been a lot better. However, not that this was not the final team selection. It was the mid-season selection by Phil Steele.
5. Sun Belt Total Tackles Leader
What does this show you. He is the most dominant linebacker in his conference.
Since he made so many tackles, he definetely knows how to wrap-up and lay the big one.
6. Sun Belt Conference First-Team Member
What can I say. The best linebacker in his conference. He is the full package and is full of potential. He can cover, he can plug up the hole. The all around linebacker. Now, how can he not be successful in the next level.
- Skills
I'll let the video below sum it up (I like to mention the video is of how good Frantz Joseph is under the most pressure, the Championship game.) Also, I will add one thing. He is pretty darn good in coverage for a college player. All he needs to work on are his speed and his reaction.
- Conclusion
In conclusion, Raiders fans should be very pleased and excited about this signing. He is definitely a gem in the dirt and I know he will make the team this year and be our back-up MLB and special teams player. In fact, look for him to start.

I'm really glad we got him
He’s got all the tools and fire in his belly from being overlooked. I’m sure he’s gonna see some playing time at lb.

Nice signing, maybe a starter...
Violence seems to be something, that coach Cable likes, first Mitchell, now Joseph…they both may end up as steals as well as busts, but I tend to say they will be steals.
Just win, baby!

Definately sounds like a solid pick up

Actually, I do
Kirk does not disrupt nearly enough plays for a MLB. Kirk doesn’t shed blockers very well either, so if he is replaced it means he will be replaced by someone better, I am all for that. Kirk would possibly be a better outside backer than inside. The one thing that is promising is that the Raiders are bringing a lot of linebackers, I just hit paydirt with one of them, it has been a weakness for 5 or 6 years.

agreed
MLB requires a big guy who can plug up the holes, make solid tackles, and move to disrupt plays. What we don’t need is a fast pass coverage guy who doesn’t fill the holes or tackle at the line. Now a fast pass coverage guy would be good for OLB to pair with Howard, but not for MLB.

Actually I wasn't really
referring to Frantz who only has a small chance of making the team, I was speaking more in general that I don’t think Kirk is a very good MLB, for the reasons you stated. You can watch an entire Raider game and hardly notice Kirk. Yes, he makes some tackles down field 5 yds. and yes a few years ago he intercepted 4 or 5 passes but I want my MLB disrupting the plays behind the line of scrimmage, not 10 yds. downfield. And to be even more harsh he is not a great tackler, and certainly never gives more punishment than he receives. I kind of believe that is what Cable thinks also given the number of linebackers coming to camp.

Tackling Stats Aren't Correct
You’ve only got ’06 and ’07 up there. He had another 154 in ’08, bringing the total to a staggering 346 tackles.

Frantz J
Really good signing by ma’ raiders…i was hoping we would’ve gotten Him or Gilbert in the 3rd or 4th round. Finally we have hard-hitting dudes like Joseph and Mitchell in our secondary,adding Huff, Tyvon , and Captain Kirk as OLB….we’re taking back The AFC west IF and ONLY if… our offense starts producing. Anyways , i’m gettin a good feeling of this draft.
GO RAIDERS!

Fascinating
Amazing goblin status?
This is Pittsburgh Steeler Troy Polamalu getting knocked around by the Pacific Ocean in Hawaii yesterday...
Minutes later, Troy caught the ocean going over the middle and smacked it right in the mouth. The ocean fumbled, Troy recovered and ran it into the endzone. The ocean never messed with Troy again.

frantz is a beast
I really like Frantz, good character and violent on the field. He will let his presence be known on field and crush oposing teams. I also like Mike Mitchell, another kid with great speed and that killer instinct like Frantz.

Looks like a good pick up
seems like he has a really good shot at making the final roster and has the potential to play significant time for us. Not a real sideline to sideline guy though due to a lack of speed but I think adding another decent MLB just gives us more versatility than we had previously, maybe play Kirk on the outside a little
