Reciever Solved

Plaxico the man that scored the game winning touchdown in the previous super bowl and then went on to shoot himself in the thigh while clubbing, has been released.  There is no man better fit to be a raider than him.  He's a big play reciever with some problems off the field just the way we like him.  He'll cost less than someone with his equivalent talent and we can draft an o lineman or d lineman in the draft to shore up that  area.  this way we have the playmaker necessary and get the linemen that actually win in the playoffs.  Allright guys take it easy it's my first post on this blog even though i been checking on this site for a while.  Go RAIDERS.

Why do we need another distraction especially from a proven veteran? Dont we already have that in Javon Walker? If the raider organization wants to change its identity it needs to stay away from those players that are cheap purely because of off the field issues. Theres a reason why their cheap…..because no one else wants them that should be a red flag in itself! Build through the draft

Unsolved...

Plaxico is a great talent, but at age 31 he will be in decline, has an injury, will probably do jail time and then face a certain NFL imposed suspension. He has obvious character issues that clearly do not mesh with coach Cable’s unselfish/team first operation.

If this were the Raiders of the 70’s, 80’s Plaxico would be here, but not now.

Your team is your child...You love it no matter what.

We are a new team

in case you have not noticed with us not signing T.O. letting go of negative nay sayers, resigning the players who give 110%,knowing we only have 5 picks so we look to free agency and pick up a few that have good potential so we may concentrate on bigger needs in the draft. we are finally replacing the tire on our vehicle instead of just patchin it up and hoping we make it to our destination. and I’m Jacked up cuz we are barley in april meaning we still have at least 3-4months before the first pre-season game to upgrade our team whether that be through the draft,’ FA, or Trade.

NO, NO, NO Plaxico!!!!

We do not need the distraction for this young up & coming bunch. BTW, if you’re carrying a gun in your pants, you might want to keep the safety on…idiot!

I Don't Understand

When is Plaxico supposed to join the Raiders, or any NFL team for that matter? He’s staring 3.5 years in prison right in the face, plus probably another half-season to full season suspension from Goodell. Even if he works out some type of plea deal with the NY DA’s office there’s no way he’s playing in 2009.

On top of that, like what others have said, Plaxico obviously has character issues that make him a bad fit for the Cable-era Raiders. He shows up to team meetings late, is a no-show for practice without explanation, etc. Plax shows up when he wants to show up and plays when he wants to play. It would be Randy Moss circa 2006 all over again.

Most Likely Draft: Brian Orakpo, Ramses Barden, Chip Vaughn, etc.

I entertained that thought as well...

on one side we do have a rebuilding team that has a direction and promising personel. We do want a playmaker in a wide receiver to really explode the offense-which Buress is. He is also a “been there, done that” player that, lets face it, played most of the season, playoffs, and Superbowl injured and still was a factor.
Then again I hear Michael Vick is looking for work, why don’t we shelf JaMarcas Russell and start him? We can pay him enough that he could avoid bankrruptcy and not ruin his credit… We can also give off our first and second round picks to Dallas for Pacman Jones, I am sure we can use his talent as well…

looking forward to the next 30 years of this team

Pacman Jones is...

a Free Agent. The dallas cowgirls released him and we can pick him up right now if we really needed him. As for Michael Vick, we should grab him, but I dont think we should start him because I still want to see if Russel can finally show exactly what he can be able to do. So I would only start Vick if Jamarcus is to have a bad season.
I would love Plaxico in silver and black, but not until he fixes up all of his problems and is ready to really commit to playing some football instead of clubbing and shooting his self.

Dude ,I Would Hate Adam Jones (Pacman) with the Raiders

Our CB status is very nice with the best in the league in Nnamdi and Chris Johnson is above average. Pacman would bring all his problems to the Raiders and I would just hate his diseases to infect the Talented players here. Michael Vick is alright I think people should give him another chance he can be a impressive QB but, I don’t see him as a Raider.

theres no turning back

now, its J-russ or bust. Jamarcus has finished his first full season. If we had done it right, we wouldve had a nice veteran Qb showing him the ropes in 07 and 08, but that didnt happen. So onward we go, with him finding his footing on the way. I say no on VICk, and def. no on that idiot pacman jones. Pacman is not some raider misfit throwback, i consider him a piece of garbage.

by oc_raider on Apr 4, 2009 2:53 PM PDT up reply actions

I also thought

about Plax w/ the silver and black. As many have stated , he may be facing jail time. His attorneys are working on a plea bargain as far as I know. If the man is not facing jail time, he could only help the raiders. I doubt he will be in a raiders uni, but I really don’t think hes that bad of a guy as others have stated. NFL players are assaulted at an alarming rate, check youtube for the inside the nfl story on it, its pretty good. The move in the club was STUPID, but doesn’t necessarily indicate he is a bad person. 30yearR8fan….. Im assuming that is a joke.. lol.. Pacman is garbage, hes the one that deserves to be in jail. Vick should get his second chance, but I def. dont want him in oakland.

Also wanted to say,

I actually agree w/ getting some experienced WR help and drafting for the D and lines.

The old Raider way is dying...

Al is 79 and looks like his body is deteriorating. Coincidentlly, the old raider ways are dying. No longer are we a throw it deep, have a team of misfits, and are the bullies of the NFL. The ladder hopefully returns, but for now the other 2 are not what we are about. This raider team we have is a team of selfless guys like justin fargas and nnamdi asomouga who are good people and play hard and keep their mouths shut and stay out of trouble. Ted Tollner will try to return us to a play action deep team, but for now we mostly take conservative throws and run the ball and try to control the clock. And We no longer are going out after these high profile players who have attitude questions.

I dont think plaxico has attitude problems, but like TO we will not pursue him because there are too many questions.

I will also say that plaxico may be guilty for illegally having a gun, but his intentions were good. A week before he shot himself, Mario Manningham was held at gun point and robbed in front of his apartment. The next day the receivers coach had wrned all of the players to protect themselves. This is why Plaxico had a weapon when he entered the club. I dont think he is another hoodlum.

And lastly if we could get him for league minimum salary, then that would be a good option in case he is aquitted.

Plaxico will be a good asset to Jamarcus

But, if we do get Plaxico then we can all forget about Crabtree. I think we shouldn’t pick up Plaxico, he is a great receiver but he has a lot of questions to be answered and not to mention he will probably get suspended. I don’t want to waste a chance to get a new fresh, young, talented, WR. I think going with Crabtree would be better than getting Plaxico. For the long run for us to return to our winning ways.

There is .....

A LOT of talk going around that the raiders will trade for chad “ocho cinco” johnson…. for a second round pick.

by oc_raider on Apr 4, 2009 6:26 PM PDT reply actions

I hope not that second round pick could really help us more than Chad

no high draft picks for recievers

i feel like we should use the picks for linemen. Thats where games are won and especially with our run defense we really need those. A drafted receiver cannot help us as much. Value could be had in the later rounds. That was my whole point of this post. so trading a high pick for a receiver is not something i would like to see us do. Unless we are like the pats or eagles or ravens and that is the last thing we need for a super bowl run.

by bioecon on Apr 4, 2009 9:02 PM PDT reply actions

I Hope you are talking Defensive Line

We have a lot of depth on the Off-line and I think we are pretty solid there.

Can't see it happening!

If he were to sign with the Raiders he would get a 1-2 year contract. Then you would have to look at the amount of games he will actually play in next year if he doesn’t recieve jail time. If he escapes jail time then he would be looking at a suspension of possibly 4-8 games. You also have to look at he was injured alot last season. We would be lucky to get a productive year out of Plaxico. Lastly, after restructuring Javon’s contract Cable and Al seem comfortable in him as their veteran guy.
