Music Thread. Daily song for May 6th. posted in comments
My god is it dull in the world of the NFL? I wouldn't know, I don't watch ESPN for fear of hearing crap statements about the Raiders draft. So I thought to liven things up, I'd throw you some music. Now I'm mainly a metal man, but I'll also give you some softer soothing stuff. But first, I'd like to share my top-25 bands list:
Top-25 bands
1. KRS-One
2. Metallica
3. Motorhead
4. Iron Maiden
5. Lamb of God
6. Pantera
7. Reign of Ash
8. Atmosphere
9. Killswitch Engage
10. Dope
11. Kataklysm
12. Demon Hunter
13. Megadeth
14. Run-DMC
15. Fort Minor
16. As I Lay Dying
17. Styx
18. Keep of Kalessin
19. ZZ Top
20. Heart
21. The Sword
22. Tool
23. Korn
24. System of A Down
25. Droid
I highly recommend all of these bands if you've never heard them.
Now for some music.
WARNING: MANY OF THESE SONGS CONTAIN FOUL LANGUAGE
Korn- Freak on a Leash. Listen to the metal beat boxing. so epic!!! Great song, one of my faves
That should be enough for you all for now. These are just some of my favorite songs and I think everyone will like at least one of them.
Now then, if you have songs you want to post on here, please feel free to dump some links onto the comments section.

Glad to see it.
Thanks KAIZ3R. There’s a couple bands on here I haven’t heard of and want to check out. I know this thread is not football related but I’m glad we can all talk about something else. I suspect we have more in common with each other than just Raiders football. Shows that we are heathly and well rounded individuals. Oh… wait… nevermind. Check out my local faves Suzukiton (MySpace, last.fm, YouTube). Riff masters with a kick ass drummer.

My favorite artists in order are:
1.) Nas
2.) 2Pac
3.) Jay-Z
4.) The Notorious B.I.G.
5.) Big L
6.) A Tribe Called Quest
7.) Eric B. & Rakim
8.) Wu-Tang Clan
9.) Boogie Down Productions (KRS-One)
10.) Talib Kweli
11.) Kanye West
12.) Lupe Fiasco
13.) Dr. Dre
14.) N.W.A.
15.) Common
16.) Eminem
17.) OutKast
18.) Bone Thugs-n-Harmony
19.) Big Daddy Kane
20.) Slick Rick
I love old school hip hop and some of the newer true school artists such as Talib Kweli and Kanye West, even though Kanye has become too mainstream for my liking in recent years. The College Dropout and Late Registration are great albums, though, but that was before he became a pop-like rapper.
Nas is my favorite. Illmatic alone is what does it for me. That album is such a classic. He’s fallen off in recent years, yeah, but everyone does unless you unfortunately die before your time is up like ’Pac and Biggie.
Illmatic is my favorite album with Jay-Z’s Reasonable Doubt following that one. Ready to Die would be next.

no KRS-One on the list????
he original? The Teacha? The Blastmasta??? KRS-One made Hip-Hop what it was and is. If you haven’t heard him you must right now!!!! Also listen to Atmosphere. You would love both. They’re perfect for the old-school hip-hop fan such as myself.

Very hard to argue with this list
NaS is the greatest of all time his new album is an absolute classic from a modern day genius but then again all of his albums are classics although I cant seem to get into Streets Disciple.
I would have Eminem and Outkast higher though

I do not have an official “greatest rap and hip hop artists of all time” list, but I’d have to go with (in order):
1.) Rakim
2.) KRS-One
3.) The Notorious B.I.G.
4.) Nas
5.) 2Pac
6.) Jay-Z
7.) Big Daddy Kane
8.) Eminem
9.) Common
10.) Big L
Everyone’s list differs, but to me, you can put anyone between one and seven at any point and it’ll make sense. It’s hard leaving Jay-Z out of the top five, but I can’t leave 2Pac out of it neither.

Shikari is beast
there was one show they did live, I’ll see if I can find the video, and it was just epic.
If you like Enter Shikari, check out Muse. Forget the fact that their song “Supermassive Black Hole” was on Twilight, and Muse is one hell of a band. They have that Shikari vibe to them and I actually like them a little bit better. Worth noting, they are one of the best bands I’ve heard live. All of their vids of them live are great, unlike most live videos I find.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_uQipPChoW8
Muse- Stockholm Syndrome (not the blink 182 song) live. Love it when he throws down the amp and plays on top of it.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_e87_7fIwCI
Muse- Assassin live. This song was on guitar hero world tour, but is so much better live.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=j8WP7aOD_9Q
Muse- Knights of Cydonia. Live at Wembley Stadium. Song was on GH: III but is once again kick ass live.
Those are my three favorite Muse songs, if you want more check out their myspace and just look for them playing live.

I got “The Very Beast of Dio” two weeks ago and love it. I just wish “Don’t Talk to Strangers” was on it. Other than that it’s an incredible CD.
Also nice to see ZZ Top in the list. Have their greatest hits and love it. Doesn’t get much better than “Cheap Sunglasses” and “Breakaway”

speaking of
Dio’s “Don’t Talk to Strangers” I just found Blind guardian’s cover of the song. I don’t like it as well, but it’s very good.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0u4cHBgQoy0
Blind Guardian is part of the German Harmonic Metal movement. The genre’s only good bands are Blid guardian and a little known band, “Hammerfall” Hammerfall is okay, but blind guardian is just barely off my top-25 list. Blind Guardian does a lot of cool stuff with orchestras. All of their songs have that midevil (spelling) rhythm to it, but has metal instruments thrown instead of the lutes of the midevil time period. I highly recommend listening to “Mirror Mirror” and “Nightfall” by Blind guardian because they’re just that good of songs.

4 of the 6 are on that CD. Master of the Moon and Don’t Talk to Strangers are not and that made me mildly miffed. but that’s a fantastic CD.

Did you guys know
What type of music plays a huge role in suicides it’s not Hip/Hop, Rock, or Metal, but, you guessed it Country music is the no.1 because of it’s depressing lyrics I don’t know how reliable my sources are but, I saw it on Mansers, or Man-Answers it’s on Spike pretty interesting topics they cover.

hate all country
other than Cash, John Andersen, and Kenny Rogers. I’d commit suicide if I had to listen to Tim McGraw, Carrie underwood, Taylor Swift, Miley Cyrus, Kid Rock, Rascal Flatts, etc. New age country flat out sucks. Only thing worse is Lil’ Wayne, Jonas bros, and modern day pop other than Rihanna.

I agree most of the new country sucks
But guys like George Staight, Charlie Daniels, Merle Haggard, The man in Black (as you mentioned), David Allen Coe, Hank JR. older Garth, Confederate Railroad and others are good.
Chris Ledoux is good too he’s the western part of Country and Western music sings about Rodeos and cowboy life. Here’s Hooked on an 8 second ride

Toby Kieth has some good songs.Like this song written just after 9-11;

Hank III
Check out Hank III’s Straight to Hell or most stuff by Wayne Hancock. Hank III is the orignal’s grandson and nothing like his dad, Hack Jr. Also Hasil Adkins, Scott H. Byram, David Allen Coe and the Boxmasters (Esp. I’m watching the game). I agree ‘new country’ flat out stinks.

Daily song for May 3, 2009
As promised, our daily song.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=esVxBRz4y8U
Live for This by Hatebreed. This really needs to be played at Raider games. I always get so pumped when I hear this. it makes me want to just go and punch someone in the face. This would definitely get the Raiders ready to go out there and kick ass if it was played in the locker rooms. I’m not a big Hatebreed fan, but this song is pure hardcore bad assness.
If you want more Hatebreed, another good song by them is This is Now. Link is below
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fM2tVZ0UtVc&feature=related
Also a good song to get pumped to. I can’t listen to Hatebreed very long because the vocals are kinda annoying after a while. Being a vocalist, the flat out yelling gets annoying to me.

I like George Strait a little bit. All my ex’es in Texas was a hit.
J-Mac got arm, D-Mac is unique, DHB got the hands, and he can move his feet.

George is a living Legend
Strait’s 38 hit albums (12 multi platinum, 22 platinum and four gold) rank him only behind Elvis Presley and The Beatles. That’s not to bad. Plus lots of #1 hits.

I know this site is supposed to be all about Raiders’ football but it’s nice to discuss other common interest. I’m new here so maybe this happens a lot but this thread has turned me on to a lot of good music I wouldn’t have heard otherwise, Thanks everybody! It made me like this board even more. Daily Song for May 4th., 2009
Pantera- Hard Ride
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Nl_WL2mFBU0
Hard Ride is one of my favorite Pantera songs and one of the more lesser known. Note the fact that the video sounds like a 1988 album. Hard Ride has more of a rock vibe as opposed to Domination, Walk, and I’m Broken which were flat out metal. Pantera is 6th. on my top-25 list. I can’t listen to this song just once. I just can’t, it’s so good.

Daily Song for May 5th., 2009
Disturbed- Indestructible
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8WL5IRrhl20
I’m not a Disturbed fan by any means, but they do have three quality songs. Indestructible is the only really good song on the Indestructible album. I’m so sick of everyone saying that “Down with the Sickness” is the best song in the world. it’s not, and neither is Through the Fire and the flames. Both songs are absolutely horrible. Disturbed has done so much better than that horrible song.
The other two good Disturbed songs:

slipknot is great
their new record is epic and their older stuff is always a treat. In the same type of metal range though, I prefer Korn. They have that same groove punk metal, but are heavier and their songs are catchier. Plus you can’t deny the metal beat boxing of Freak on a Leash.

Fall of Troy- F.C.P.R.E.M.I.X.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SQkYNXWXRzk
If you like Enter Shikari or Underoath, you’ll love Fall of troy. They’re so random, the pitch and tempo constantly changing. They’re so unpredictable that every song is a surprise. Once a top-25 band for me, they slid off the list due to, admittedly, my own overplaying of their songs. Fall of Troy is unlike nay band I’ve ever heard and i still am an avid listener of their music.
