Silver and Black Pride Community Reminder:
It is becoming necesary that we take certain actions on this site to ensure that we are NOT impeding on someone else's territory.
As the Blog-o-Sphere continues to gain credibility we need to start taking precautions to protect ourselves while at the same time doing what it right by the writers around the internet.
I have had more than one person copy and paste my entire article on their sites to prove points or to share it with their Communities. I have never complained, but I probably should have. It is IN NO WAY OKAY to just copy and paste someone's entire article even if you do reference back to them.
I know it is common practice on the internet, but we neeed to be above that.
Now that we have grown to over 1,200 members and are getting over 150,000 visits a month, we need to protect what we are building here.
So, in the future, here is what is acceptable when referencing somone else's work:
Reference the writer and Source (Saint from Silver and black Pride)
ENTIRE STORY HERE (Link)
Blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah...Go Raiders.
I hope that you are all on board with this. Unfortunately any noncompliance with this will lead to a warning and the second will lead to a temporary ban. The third strike will result in a permanent ban.
I hate to have to institute anything besides personal attacks that can lead to banning, but I hope you agree, this has become necesary.
Cheers and keep up the good work, I am loving how the Nation is embracing SBN and S&BP,
Saint

Don't Apologize
You shouldn’t have to apologize for reminding people to cite their sources and block quote materials that aren’t their own work. Silver and Black Pride is linked from Yahoo and frequently shows up on Google News searches, so it is imperative that we maintain some decorum in our discussions.

Absolutely correct
It is always best to just use excerpts from an article that you copy & paste, then add your own commentary outside of the quote box, then provide a link for the whole article. The Associated Press is cracking down hard on internet copy right infringes and the other publications will certainly follow suit.

very good point Saint
I fully agree with you. Inter-site copyright infringement is just as bad as taking an article from the internet to use for an essay at schools and colleges and should be treated as such.

Good Move.
As someone who has made an occasional dollar from writing I whole heartedly agree. It’s plagarism and intellectual theft not to properly site your sources. Not to mention a total dick move. The AP is leading the way but lots of news orgs are busting sites like Druge, Red State, Huff Post, Raw Story and other ‘link sites’ for just this.

Yeah, and also as a reminder to our posters, don’t post things that should be a FanShot in the FanPost section.

That's a Great Point:
Fanposts are meant to be longer diaries, or articles if you will, whereas FanShots are quick hits, thoughts, videos, links or photos.
But when they start scheming us the way these guys did, and we weren't particularly ready for it, anything can happen."

Now I get it.
Oh, now I get it. I’m new here. I was wondering what the difference between a fanpost and a fanshot was. Thanks for the distinction.

bro
if you just want football news then why did u join the site? you can see everything you want about the news without joining. the reason we blog about sports is to share our opinions, and somtimes we value our opinions to the point of which we dont want somoen else to take credit for them.
u want real football news, you’ll find plenty of it on yahoo…this is more than just news on this site. if u cant respect that then iono what your doing here…

Good call Saint
"Mel Kiper has his opinion and I respect it. But what does it mean? My 9-year-old nephew can watch film and make an opinion. I think I value the opinion of scouts who get paid to make their opinions. It will carry me through my career. It will serve as motivation for me." - Mike Mitchell
