Around SBN: Newcastle Battle Injury Woes Ahead of Tottenham

although DHB has struggled the first couple of days in camp, he's shown signs of turning it around. seems to support the claims of "nerves" hurting him or perhaps him just getting accustomed to Jamarcus' throws. either way, i'm sure everyone is glad to hear that DHB is starting to turn it around. let's all hope he can start to do it with some consistency

While I was critical of Heyward-Bey’s drops, him turning it around is something that I expected to see at some point. I mean, he’s a wide receiver. He can’t drop passes forever. It was just tough to see a seventh overall pick struggle so much.

i wish you mentioned it before he started turning it around!!!

but with all the scrutiny from ESPN and the media, i can understand it. now i just hope he can start to catch the ball a lot more consistently.

Caught 11 passes in a row yesterday

and a couple of really nice catches as well by all accounts.

I would love to see both DHB and Mitchell really stick it to the haters this year – I would love nothing more than to watch certain media personalities this season.

"Mel Kiper has his opinion and I respect it. But what does it mean? My 9-year-old nephew can watch film and make an opinion. I think I value the opinion of scouts who get paid to make their opinions. It will carry me through my career. It will serve as motivation for me." - Mike Mitchell

I meant to say I would love nothing more that to watch ‘I was wrong’s’ from the media all season.

Although there are also certain media personalities i AM looking forward to watching this year :)

I’m sorry grammar police please forgive me

DHB

I think we all hope he does turn it around. I hate to think we’d have another first round flop on our hands. We don’t want to root against him, just worried. We passed on some big talent so we all hope this pays off.

everyone passes on some big talent

the only difference is ESPN didn’t like our pick.

ESPN would not have patted anyone on the back for passing up on Michael Crabtree for another receiver.

time

Only time will tell. I think we should at least give him a year or two. After all, it’s what we do for J-Russ!!!! And it’s the right thing to do.

Let's be honest, though...

The knock on DHB coming into the draft was his hands. So far, the empirical evidence supports the notion that his hands are suspect.

You need to see more than just “signs of turning it around”. HE needs to catch everything in sight or he will get hammered by the local and national media for being a WR who can’t be relied upon. The he will have confidence issues, Then Russell/Garcia won’t have confidence in him. Then they won’t throw it to him.

It’s a horrible process. He just has to elevate his mental game and catch the stupid football.

"Well, we didn't block real good but we made up for it by not tackling."
