What we have learned

We now know that we have achance at this division if we can beat SD in there place. Now everyone in the league knows that we are getting better and that we can compete and we are not push overs. If the refs had a brain we would have won this game. We need more consistency everywhere. We got away from the run, I feel like Cable is trying to prove we can throw the ball. Why? Just run it and we will be fine. But Russel at some moments looked incredible and others, awful. He made a savior appearance when he came back from injury and threw that touchdown. Bad play calling on defese as well as offense did us in. Why did we only throw one screen? Why did we never blitz when we had supposedly worked on it all offseason? But either way our run defense is much improved and Ellis and Seymour were amazing. Ricky Brown played very bad, constantly letting those short passes to Nanne and Sproles get bye him and giving them to much space. A once in a blue moon mistake bye Asomugha let Jackson score and we got tired. If our offense got first downs we may have had an energized defense and that goes back to running the ball. I think the return of Chaz will help Russell out alot. Once again Cornell Green was awful, when does our starting right tackle come back? Chris Morris was ok but not great. I think we need more blitzing, more running the ball, and simpler passes. And why did we get away from Zach MIller in the 4th? Overall, I think we have a legit chance at the playoffs if we can be more consistent ( playoffs, we talking about playoffs?!). In my opinion the two best plays of the game were Russell's bomb and and his block ( two guys?!).

I couldn't agree more

I will admit, despite the loss, that was the best I’ve seen out of the Raiders in a LONG time. If we just keep stepping it up, we will see a rebirth!

The D ran out of gas because there was too many 3 and outs in the 2nd half.

The last series was really disappointing, especially, as it looked like the Raiders were playing the dreaded “prevent D”.

The team looks like they are headed in the right direction but there is still so much work to be done…but I think we all know SD knows deep down that they really caught a break tonight with that bullshit call on the TD that was reversed at the end of the first half. Overall, it was a gutsy performance and Tom Cable has these kids moving in the right direction. So, kudos to the young Raider squad and here’s to kicking ass in KC on Sunday…

The chargers are a veteran team and that experience shined through

I think the passing game will be much improved when Schillens returns run game looked great but the big fellas ran out of gas. We were VERY physical on defence which was great and we were really the better team all night. I think the TD pass to Murphy that put them in front will be a BIG stepping stone for Jamarcus’s confidence and development.

We are still learning to WIn but we WILL win games this year

I know you can never predict how things will change.

but I was pretty confident we would lose when we rushed 3 on the first play of the last charger drive. I know we went to a 4 man rush the rest of the drive, but I felt like that play set the tone. You can not play not to lose. Unless of course your up by 9 or more at that point you stick with what was working. The 4 man rush beating the crap out of them.

You make some good points dubzfan

but your comments would be easier to read if you broke them up by using paragraphs.

If they play anywhere close to that well against KC

they will wipe the floor with them

Maybe they passed the ball too much in the second half

but they put the ball in JaMarcus’s hands and he put them in the lead with 2 minutes left cant argue with that performance under pressure on 4th down. If they had have awarded the first murphy TD that would have been 3 for the day, he did miss some wide open receivers at times though but he also made some great throws, the one where higgins got popped and dropped it was great too.

You right dubzfan

We should have kept it simple. Run, run, throw it to Miller. Do it until they stop it.
And why the huge gaps with Sproils(??) there time after time in the 4th. quarter.
But the intensity was there like we have’nt seen in a long, long time. No big guys standing around with there hands on their hips. Lot’s of kick ass attitude. Looked like a different team, looked like a real good team. Nice change-up. Let’s do it again Sunday.
I hope Vince Young is not one of the announcers on any more Raider games. Does he piss you off like he does me.
Go Raiders.

i think

that now we know that our offense needs to be better. we have chaz next game, but there’s no way he’ll get the ball if i don’t see some accuracy.

Once again we witnessed

Cable is still trying to give us a balanced offense, which we simply don’t have. Though I think he knows that now. First game of the season, might as well see what his team can do in a regular season atmosphere. Don’t expect this to continue when we go into KC who gave up 512 yards to the Ravens.

Also, that defense, even if they were tired, was out there having fun. There were jumping around and laughing and enjoying themselves. This is how we need our defense to play all year. They were pumped up and it translated to a great deal of success.

We looked tougher!

For the first time in years I saw a team that believed in themselves, I credit Seymour and Ellis for giving the defense positive role models that are used to winning. They hammered the hell out of SD, how many players went to the side line 4? We have to give Russell and the rookie receivers time to work on routes that they complete. JaMarcus still needs for the game to slow down a little, once it does he’ll be ok. That was a beautifully thrown deep ball for a touchdown. The run game looked awesome and we didn’t have Fargas available. I can’t wait for Chad’s foot to heal, and for Heywood-Bey to catch some of the balls thrown at him. I did have a scare for McFadden when he was hit crossing the middle trying to catch the back thrown pass from Russell. I don’t want to see that again, we can not afford to lose him on a play like that.
