My Fanhood

Let me say first, Raider fans are one of the loyal, if not THE most, loyal fans I have ever been part of.

This post, however, is about my fanhood of the Raiders. It seems that some bloggers here think that I'm just a pats fan on a Raiders blog.

Everyone has a favorite team, I have 2 Favorites, which all of you know. One is not more of a favorite than another, I like both teas as if they were my kids(although i'm too young to have kids).

I became a raiders fan 1 or 2 years after being a pats fan, when my step dad was dating my mother at the time. My step dad was born in Arizona, and raised in Orange County, he lived through the erras of bo jackson and jack tatum, and told me of how teams were feared by the raiders for their ferocious defense. They were the reason why many people chose not to play in the nfl, for fear that they would play against the raiders and their defense. I liked every bit of his stories of the Raiders, especially Raider greats.

I've been a football fan for 4 or 5 years now, and I've bee rooting for the raiders every year since then. I'm the only raider fan amongst my friends, my school, and they used to laugh when i told them i was raider fan. They respect my fanhood of them now, although my friend matt, every time i say the raiders are going to win, he'll say that the raiders suck, and that they'll get blown out.

Now people laugh when i tell them i'm a raider fan and a pats fan. they sometimes say that i'm more of a pats fan than a raider fan right? I tell them, wrong, I'm just as much a pats fan as i am a raider fan. I can't pick between the two because i've been a strong fan for both teams for a long time.

my dad is more of a pats fan, and roots for the raiders, my step dad is more of a raiders fan, and roots the pats as well.

I root for both teams STRONGLY. No more or less than the other.

It's weird, i know, to be a fan of the raiders and pats, but it's the truth. I get mad when people question my fanhood. I even have the DVD of the Raiders, The Complete History. I also hate when I go onto a blog, my fanhood is biased just because my name is patriotguy. I can make another name, but I'd rather have you guys see me as a pats fan, as well as a raider fan, without my screen name being a factor.

This may have been a pointless post to those who believe I'm a die-hard Raider fan, but i'd like to get this off my chest.

Win, Lose, or Tie, Raider till I Die!

as far as i've seen

you have valid points and opinions, which i would say are valued here on the site. i think that’s what matters most. I still hate the Pattys forever though.

no hard feelings!

i don’t really have a hated team. the jets maybe, but i mostly hate players.

No doubt you have proved to be a true Raider fan and observer.

Personally I am a one team man when it comes to football. I spent the first half of my life in LA when the Raiders were there and the second half mostly in the Seattle area. Over time I have become a Mariner fan and a Dodger fan also I was a Sonic fan RIP and a Laker fan, but I have never become a Seahawk fan, or any other NFL team other than the Raiders!

Apparently they are my one true football love! I mean there are different teams I enjoy from year to year because of their style of play, but when it comes to being a loyat fan to a team, it is all silver and black.

Wherever I go, that's where I am.

no doubt; appreciate your posts always

wish most of the rest of the league could speak openly and intelligently about the Raiders. Most either fans or haters. It hurts the haters that we’re getting back on track.

Oh, how it hurts! Great story. We’re fans for teams for reasons we’re fans, which may or may not mean anything to anyone but us, but who cares!

I have the utmost respect for the Pats, as they remain a benchmark organization. It’s no accident Al has a working relationship with them.

i hope they do!

it would be great if the pats will pass their torch to the raiders!

it's not at all out of the question to see both teams play well and compete for years to come

Always interesting to see How Kraft and Belichik turn over players and remain competitive; buy they always do!

Now for the Raiders to live up to their commitment to excellence!

Just because we're loyal

doesn’t mean we can all afford to fly to Oakland watch the game, or for that matter pay for a ticket to see the game if we live there. That’s the reason the NFL will stream the game the next day on NFL.com. Now why don’t you go buy a ticket so you can see your team on TV?

since there is a black out for them

does the blackout count nationwide, or just oakland?

by patriotguy on Sep 26, 2009 4:55 PM PDT up reply actions   0 recs

Just in that market. So there is a chance

if a game is blacked out in the AFC east or NFC east we can see it here.

It's unlikely

the 4:15 game, and I don’t feel like looking who it is, will be blacked out though on CBS.

yeah

they don’t show raider games too much here. i wish i can have my parents call comcast and ask them to add raider games to our TV network. I don’t think they do that though.

I think only Direct TV

has the contract w/ the NFL ticket where you can order just that division. My friend and I were gonna go halves on that but we never did cuz I started working 3rd shift. And I got to drunk cuz he made me stay @ his house since I was drinking and if I wasn’t driving, I was drinking.

Assuming you have broadband

Channelsurfing.net for NFL/College games.

As for the blackout, the whole blackout policy is so much B.S. That they just expect people to shell out 60-80 for a ticket when the economy is shot, unemployment rising everywhere, people losing their homes, just shows how selfish and greedy they are, and how they don’t care about the fans at all.
