Broncos vs Raiders preview

Raidersthumb3_medium
Week 3 of the NFL season finds the Oakland Raiders playing their third straight AFC Western divisional opponent, this time against arch-rival Denver Broncos. One of the best rivalries in sports will be underway today with the Raider leading the all-time series 55-40-2.

The Broncos come into Oakland with a lot of confidence and a 2-0 record after taking down the teams from Ohio, while the Raiders are 1-1 and can take a stake of 1st place with a victory today.

It's been well documented and abundantly analyzed around here about JaMarcus Russell's quarterbacking capabilities. However, his best games so far have been against Denver, so look for JaMarcus to respond with an improved and solid game today with a game plan that will put him in position for success.

It doesn't get any better than this with these two teams so let's bring it Oakland! The Raiders can set their course for the rest of the season today with a win, as the grueling part of their schedule begins starting next week.

GO RA-I-D-E-R-S!!!

First!!

Here’s to Two AFC West teams showing the rest of the League that we are not who they think we are. Here’s to the best Rivalry in the league making headlines, instead of one-liners. Here’s to the game going back to what it used to be, the most anticipated and dreaded game on the schedule. Here’s to a little Pride and Poise VS a renewed Orange Crush!
Good….. well, I’ll wish ya good luck AFTER the game!

I'm tired of hearing about money, money, money, money, money. I just want to play the game, drink Pepsi, wear Reebok.

if we manage to win

it’ll not be because of Russell, and probably not even because of the running game, but because of this profound Raiders defense. Not statistically a great group because they give up tons of yardage, but they always manage to get a sack or interception or just one great play to keep points off the board. And in the end, that’s the only defensive statistic that matters.

The Raiders have been playing to the level of their opponents, being good against a good team in SD, and terrible against a terrible team in KC. But today, Oakland returns home to a loud and proud stadium having gone up against two divisional opponents; while the Broncos are getting their first taste of divisional action today. Will be interesting to see how that factors into the game.

I have heavy doubts about Russell and the passing game, which means the run game will then in-turn struggle, so I have to go with Denver winning a nailbiter, 17-13.

If we win it WILL NOT be becasue of Russell

hopefully the run game really has a breakout game and produces on some of their potential – We have not had a 100 yard rusher this season and and are currently ranked 17th in the league in rushing offence averaging 107.5 yards a game as a team, not really what i was expecting but there is no doubt the could easily bust out at any time and I think it could be this week at home.
We are supposed to be a running team first and pass second so the run game should be supporting the pass game and gaining consistent yardage and 107 yards a game won’t cut it.I think we will win

Oakland win 20 – 13

Look for russell to improve

I know its hard to say or believe but I think russell will have a decent game today. As we learned last week in kc if we cant pass they are going to stack the box and thats the main reason for the run game not gettin going. Expect denver to do the same thing so russell reallly needs to take advantage of that. I see the raiders starting out steady with the run and eventually opening up the passing game, look for murphy and miller to have decent games, and dmac breaks one today. GO RAIDERS!!!!

i'd feel a lot better

if schefter picked the raiders. he’s usually very accurate, but he’s still human.

GO RAIDERS!

yay Ditka picked us

he’s actually one of the sane “experts”. And it’s typical of Schlereth to pick his Broncos. Glad he picked them though, he’s usually wrong.

I wish I could see the game

I live in SoCal, well outside the blackout area and they still won’t show it. They didn’t show the game last week either. They never show the Raiders in my area and I’m 15 mins away from LA. However, they’ll show plenty of crappy SD games. /rant

If we win it’ll be because of a number of factors. Russel finally figures out how to be a competent QB, or atleast better than he’s been (which is hard not to do). Our run game becomes dominant, the D proves to be the real deal, and of course turnover and penalty help. I predict this to either be a close raider win or a blowout by the donkeys; hopefully it’s the former.

It would have to be CBS

because it’s AFC and not a 8:00 game. And the game wasn’t blacked out in the first 2 weeks. It’s blacked out this week.

They never show Raider games in my area. However, I been able to see every Titan and Jets game this year. The only time they ever show Raider games is when it’s on MNF. I was hoping this year there would be more cause we are possibly going to make a run for the AFC West, but so far it just the same old same old.

...didn't finish

….last week CBS listed the Raiders game for my area, but it was a Bait n’ Switch; the aired the Jets game instead. I’m hoping the guide is wrong this week also and they ed up showing the Raiders, but as it stands it’s going to be the Chargers; and the Chargers are the last team in the AFC West I would root for. I at least have respect for the Chiefs and Donkeys.

it doesn’t get unblacked out. Usually when it’s blacked out you can’t find a streaming version either :-/

Disappointing X Infinity

The Raiders were abysmal everywhere today. Russell and McFadden had forgetable days again, and the defense laid an egg. Russell is a complete load of **** who cannot seem to find anyone. There were some good looks downfield, but Russell keeps missing either by a few inches or completely misfire. It was so bad that I remembered the Broncos even declining a holding call to keep it a 3rd and 10. That’s how bad it was, if your opponent’s defense does not even respect your offense. There will be some of you saying, Russell is still learning, or that Gallery’s injury has something to do with it, or even that the rookie receivers still need experience, but that are all excuses that cannot be overused to cover what is becoming to be a huge thorn. If Chaz’s return does not help Russell’s struggles, Cable has got to think about changing QBs. And that is just one of the problems. The running defense of the Raiders is porous again. So many problems…a better efficient offense can help, but the way the defense played today and last week is a concern.

The Big Gradowski Please

….because I want to the team to win. I’m not a Russell fan, I am a Raider. This guy is killing us and has not show any improvement. On the contrary his play has gotten worse since last year. The running can’t do much w/ 8-9 guys in the box every play. Our D did hold Denver to 23 pts with 4 turnovers.

Here we go again, and again, and again.

I can’t wear my Raider gear around town. Old ladies and children laugh at me. Thank god we don’t play the Lions this week.
