Jeff Garcia released by Philly
Do you guys see anyway that we bring him back in? I'm still on the side that says give Russell a few more games. Garcia would be a good insurance policy especially since he knows our playbook. If Russell comes out flat again next week just pull him and try to salvage the season. With a half way decent QB we could win a few games this season.

Jeff Garcia
I’m not surprised he was cut since he was guaranteed pay for two weeks.
I don’t think we’ll sign him, though.

Jeff Garcia
As a raider fan who lives in Denver, I’m sick to death of defending Jamarcus and the state of the team to all of these donkey loving asses. We deserve better than what we have been getting from the QB position and Al’s antiquated ways. I have never been a fan of Garcia’s, but I truly feel that he would be an improvement and make the team more competitive. No more excuses. It’s time for a change.
There is a reason
He has been cut twice already… Grad is a better option.

Absolutely
To anyone who wants Garcia back, I say this:
Garcia sat for a couple weeks after we cut him before his phone rang and that was only from
a team who’s starter had just went down and whose backup had started 1 game in his career. Then, as soon as the starter gets healthy, they cut him.
Garcia’s tank is empty. He’s a good emergency option, but that’s it. If Russell has to be sat, then Gradkowski is the best option we’ve got.

Garcia is a viable backup
The reason he sat for two weeks before being signed is because teams are largely set at the QB position this time of year… until injury strikes, as was the case here. The Eagles signed Garcia as a contingency plan, nothing more. McNabb went down, Vick was still suspended and their only remaining QB option (Kolb) was a giant question mark. Vick’s back. McNabb is coming along. And Kolb is doing very well. The problem’s been solved that’s why Garcia was released – he served his purpose.
In any event, if not Garcia… then who? Who can play worse or do more harm than J-Russ?
So you are saying teams did not call Garcia because they were set at QB?
Teams make moves that better themselves whenever they are available. Garcia is done as anything but a contingency plan.
“if not Garcia… then who?” well that answer was actually in the post you replied to and the one that post replied to… Gradkowski. I am surprised you didn’t see that.

As poorly as JR is playing, Garcia is not at all the answer
We’re better off with current backups or riding the season out with Jamarcus.
there is a bright side to this. If he tanks like he has all season, we’ll know it’s time to move on. As for now, we don’t, and all speculation and willingness to throw in the towel on him is premature.
We need to know for sure, and even the biggest of haters know he will win some games, despite the horrible showing. It’s time for us loyal fans to start acting like it, and have some faith in Cable and the coaching staff. If they choose to stick with him, and they have a better idea of what will affect the team in the long run, we should back them up.
I don’t think the team shares the sentiment with all of us expecting big things from Jamarcus. My biggest problem is the things he says and the banging of blame elsewhere. We want him to take responsiblity for his mistakes, and use the fodder to get better. Let’s look forward to that, and keep the looking elsewhere to a minimum, at least for now…
You've got to remember
Switching QBs is fine, but it won’t solve the problem. The offense as a whole is playing lousy. Cable said so himself, which leads me to believe it’s a coaching problem just as much as it is a performance problem. I realize it’s not fashionable to question Cable, but did he really qualify for the job of being a head coach? Most assistant coaches that get head coaching spots AND SUCCEED, do it because they studied under somebody great and learned.
I mean, the Raiders have talent, and it’s the coach’s job to cobble that together into something cohesive, but when was the last time the Raiders had a GOOD coach?
Yeah, the offense may be slipping
but Russell is one of the biggest problems. Right Now Gallery is hurt, so our o-line is weaker than usual. It’s not Cable’s fault we didn’t draft or sign viable back ups. Look farther up the food chain.
Win, Lose, or Tie, Raiders til I die!
Garcia should be in the Bay Area
First, I must say JaMarcus deserves to start this next game, but if he looks anything like he did against Denver, it’s time for him to sit and watch and learn. I hate to tell you, but this is a no-brainer. Garcia could bring a spark to the team. I think 8-8 would be possibe with Jeff.
We need Garcia Now
I’m old enough to tell some of you that in 1980, when the Raiders started 2-3, I felt the team was hopeless, since I never saw such a thing since I began following the team in 1972. Then comes in a “washed-up” QB named Jim Plunkett, and I was convinced something magical was happening after 2 wins. I remember telling people before the playoffs that the Raiders would win the Super Bowl, and they did. Jim Plunkett is my hero as an NFL player. I’m not suggesting that a Super Bowl is possible, but I have a hunch that Jeff Garcia could make Raider fans excited about football again!
By winning games, he definitely could
and I believe he’d win some games. Probably some you could put on his shoulders too. A heated competitor, with some talent around him can be very effective.
I think Garcia could win some games
I think Garcia can still play and has more heart and a will to win. Winning a few games would do wonders for team morale. Russell is too busy counting his money to worry about throwing a football with any accuracy.
Just win baby!
Why the continuing loyalty to Garcia?
NOBODY wants him. He’s been cut by everyone. There are several teams out there needing QBs (we’re not the only ones with problems at that spot) yet nobody is going after him. Because he’s done. It’s over. He’s not like Favre who’s got just enough left to keep teams interested.
