49ers interested in sharing stadium with Raiders
"Sharing a stadium at a very high level makes a lot of sense," said Jed York, the president of the 49ers, on KNBR.
"We've carved out in our deal that we can potentially have two stadiums in Santa Clara."
This really isn't the worst idea if you ask me.
Comments
I like that idea.
As much as I want the Raiders to come to Los Angeles, I know it won’t happen. The best thing to do is build a stadium for both Bay area teams. Although it would be nice to have a new stadium, the Raiders should be more concerned about having a better season.
Not in Santa Clara though.
Id be much happier if it was like a midway point between Frisco and Oakland.
Tommy Kelly's ass won us that game against Denver!
LOL, well I guess the underwater option would be unique.
Besides we would have access to BART.

Lol
Id be happier if it was more on the other side of sanjose. Fremont would be awesome but thats not close enuff to SF. Milpitas? ;)
Tommy Kelly's ass won us that game against Denver!
I'm easy as long as it's the area
I would just like the Raiders to be fiscally competitive and honestly that is going to require a new stadium.

It's not the stadium that is keeping people away
The seats are half empty because many fans are frustrated by the poor use of what we have and the poor performance of 33% of our players.

We need to start winning.
There is simply no excuse for a franchise to be as bad as we have been for as long as we have but a stadium certainly would not hurt. Ticket sales are only part of the revenue generated by modern stadiums. Then there is the issue of personnel amenities that attract free agents and sponsors. Not to mention the fact there are pyramids that have stood for as less time as The Colosseum. The 9ers are in the same boat with Candlestick minus the cracks.

Fremont
Since the A’s couldn’t relocate there, the Raiders won’t. That ballpark in Fremont would have been a beauty, though.

what the f$%k?
what the fuck are you all saying?share a stadium with the"from-behinders"?they should buy us a new stadium since we brought the first super bowl win to the bay area, they sucked for how long? when was the last time they had a winning season?and fuck Jerry too!never wanted him on my team and im glad we werent mentioned by his punk ass!can believe any true raider fan would ever consider this, and please someone push Al down some stairs or something
The other idea they are discussing
is the 49’s sharing the Coliseum with the Raiders. Not sure I like that one.
the word is
that the current colosium location is the ideal spot with 880 and bart all right there, easi access in and out. they would build a new stadium right there in the current spot. but in no way are the raiders going across the bay!

yes, I don't like this idea either
too suburbanish

They can keep Oakland Raiders regrdless of the location, They can be in Alaska and still call themselves the Oakland Raiders
The RaiderLaker
Santa Clara
That wouldn’t be our city name. The 49ers wouldn’t ditch the San Francisco title for the Santa Clara one.

what if plan B materializes?
I mean, the 49’s share the Coliseum with us? It sounded like they’re discussing it as the more realistic idea.
by Spirals galore on Jan 27, 2010 7:08 PM PST up reply actions
NOOOOOOO =( Please don't do it lol
The 49ers need to stay in San Francisco and the Raiders needz to stay their azz in Oakland. No need to take these teams away from the fans that live in those city’s it just wouldn’t feel right having them in Santa Clara…….. that Includes the A’s too. but anyways We’re the OAKLAND RAIDERS!!!!! DAMN IT! it’s already bad enough we’re losing but please don’t rip them away from my soul…..
"Once a Raider always a member of this silver and black nation.... Just a way of life sooo deal with it!"
We can shorten it to make it sound better like the SC Raiders and the SC 49ers..lol ;)
The RaiderLaker
Al better not take the team away from oakland again.......
Seriously I’ll protest this…. lol It’s already bad enough they went to L.A
"Once a Raider always a member of this silver and black nation.... Just a way of life sooo deal with it!"
Wow, thats a nice contribution of opinion in your part.(sarcasm)
Atleast elaborate on your opinion to why you disagree with Suleku. and if you want also add the profanity after your point. Otherwise dont post.

Oooooh god agood -.-
If you guys tell me why wanna move the raiders to SC then it’ll be all good even tho I still want them to stay in oakland. It’s were I grew up to love this team =) it wouldn’t break my heart to see them gooo plus we don’t need brothers over here out of a job now….. It’s already tooo rough here as it is
"Once a Raider always a member of this silver and black nation.... Just a way of life sooo deal with it!"
I'd much rather have the team stay in Oakland even if the stadium is dilapidated
it’s not so bad. And sharing a stadium with the 69rs is out of the question with their banners and brickbrack defiling our holy of holies. This is a nightmare idea from a cruel demented corporate troll.
Agreed
This idea is out of the question. Can’t do it, won’t do it, my drunk ass needs BART dammit!!!
The niners are throwing this out there because they can’t afford it on their own, and their stadium is way beyond repair. I for one, still have a soft spot in my heart for the Oaktown Coliseum, and am fine with the Raiders staying there.
Also, moving both teams so far from their respective cities just does not sound like a good idea anyway.
"We can't stop here... This is bat country."
there is not a better feeling than walking in to the colosium, as is!
it just says raidaaaaaaaas, kinda like san quentin says convict. i’ve loved that building since 81’!

you are so right
but I’d appreciate decent video screens for replays and machine-gun turrets for the seagulls

yea a little TLC i guess wouldnt hurt, but i still get chills everytime i walk across from bart and enter
by rodeosnake12 on Jan 28, 2010 7:52 AM PST up reply actions
me too! my pace picks up faster as I draw near the great concreate arena, next
the pat-down search for weapons and alcohol, then the walk up the series of ramps with every fan dressed in black – but it isn’t a funeral or Johnny Cash concert- and the cries reverberating “RAIDERS, RAIDERS …RAIDERS …” and then arriving and looking down on the field and seeing the players whose numbers identify them … it’s great!! … and the game hasn’t even started.
by Sons-of-Blanda on Jan 28, 2010 12:35 PM PST up reply actions
its funny how fast one's pace can be heading in
and how slow it can be heading out, and i dont only mean the crowd but the 6 losses at home make me just slow down and i kinda act lost. but nothing chimes better in the consession corridors tha yelling “OAKLAND” and waiting for an answer shouting…
by rodeosnake12 on Feb 1, 2010 11:08 AM PST up reply actions
I get goosebumps when we've got them backed up on their ten and
“the bell begins to chime” damn! After Cincinnati I played AC/DC just to hear that bell tolling again … and again.

hahaha
pretty sure we would see hell freeze over before we seen a shared stadium . seriously !
Al hates everything the niners stand for .
Besides who’s stadium would it realy belong to ? ours of course , hahhah . and the BUTTERSCOTCH & MONKEY BLOOD fans would try and claim it as theirs . hahaha . if you thought there was hatred before , whoa .
It works in New York because for what ever reason they dont have the same hatred as we have out here . ya . i dont understand it either
can you support the statement that Al hates the 49's?
I know I don’t like them one bit, nor do a lot of Raider fans I’ve met.
by Spirals galore on Jan 28, 2010 5:18 AM PST up reply actions
here is an older report saying that Al is open to the idea of sharing a stadium with the 49's

“Raiders Owner Al Davis yesterday said it is a “misconception that there’s some unhappiness with the Raiders and the 49ers” that would prevent the teams from possibly sharing a stadium in the Bay Area, according to Jason Jones of the SACRAMENTO BEE." anyone who's been at the games during a heavy rain and had to
swin to go get nachos and beer knows that we need AT LEAST to upgrade the stadium we have……i hope the raiders can stay in oakland untill i die and my baby girl can grow up and watch the games there….but a shared stadium in santa clara is better to me than some options further away…….BUT PLESE STAY IN OAKLAND!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
No awnings or cover of any sort. What next a dome?! Let us be at one with the elements
and resist the ways of less manly organizations that watch live games indoors. I won’t set foot in a domed stadium with its stagnant air, convenience obsessed fans and clanging, blaring sounds similar to those heard in 2nd-rate casino slot-pit. Nay, not I and not the Raiders.
by Sons-of-Blanda on Jan 28, 2010 12:46 PM PST up reply actions
is there any way that
the niners can share the coliseum with the raiders and have the niners build a new stadium. then the raiders can go down to santa clara and share that one and build a new coliseum. i love having bart right there. or if the raiders go to santa clara for good then could the a’s use that land for a new stadium
I don't hate the idea of sharing a stadium
I actually had to grow up liking like 9ers (kids only liked 9ers or cowboys in my elementary school and the lone raider fan was the girl no one liked) so it’s not like I completely abhor that team like some others might. However, I’m not quite feeling the Santa Clara location either.
by GoldenStateGuerrero on Jan 28, 2010 10:40 PM PST reply actions
me and my best friend were the only raider fans at my elementary school.
and everybody loved the niners. that was when joe montana was doing his thing. it sucked. now everyone i know is a raider fan except my wife :/ she love the niners
Jerry the Seachicken
Wow so he had a great career in an inferior division and a weaker part of the league! Thats right I said it,that division sucks now as it did then, ask Seattle thats how they finally made it to the bowl! And lost hahahahaha! Anyone know why Portland doesnt have a real football team here? Because then Seattle will want one too!
