Jumping the gun!! I'm excited !!Ask a Chiefs fan for rivilary week!
I was going to wait until later in the week but I'm that excited for the game game next week! I am writing this prior to the games this afternoon so I don't know the results for Sunday yet. It doesn't matter though this game will be very IMPORTANT. The AFC West is tight and as I speak, we have a 1.5 game lead. That in under twelve hours could shrink to .5 or jump to 2.5. I have posted here a few times and you guess are some pretty cool guys. I actually posted before the season an article w/ my predictions of the AFC West. I had the Chiefs first Raiders 2nd and the Chargers 3rd..... so far so good. Regardless of schedule this will be a battle and with the division this close it's going to be a great one.
The facts to this point are-Matt is playing better tons better,but he's still a question mark. The run game is spot on and we love to run the ball. Dwayne Bowe is playing more sound football and maybe actually growing up. The Defense started great but defending the pass is our weak point. The pass rush is on and off, but we lack a consistent rusher -Hali. The special teams have shown flashes, but are not jaw dropping. The O-line is playing well and our rookie class is always impressing. Berry thus far is a run stopping machine, but tends to be a liability in pass coverage sometimes. Oh last thing Derrick Johnson is playing really good football and Shaun Smith might give Campbell a reach around that is all.
Please feel free to ask any questions and please be respectful of everyone. This is a great divisional game, but no need to shit on people in here guys. We are both teams trying to turn around a string of dismal years. So Oakland good luck and I promise we will be alot tougher than Denver lol. I'll start w/ a few questions and if you would please rec this up so when can discuss the game until opening kickoff in Oakland Sunday. Thanks!

- We've seen how good this team is, why do they show up bi-weekly to this point?(Road games?Effort?Injuries)

The deceiving part is
when they went 6-0 they could have been 3-3 they had alot of lucky bounces and caught many breaks. They are not an organized team and a team that can’t run the ball is one dimensional and will have tough times winning on the regular.

It would be a set back for sure, but I don’t think it would go that far. We have some good young talent finally progressing and I think it’s just an overall factor. Players stepping up and better coaching combo.

Hard to say
Like I said before the Bills are not the worst team in football and Fitzpatrick can sling the yard. They took Baltimore to OT as well. They are a decent team that just can’t find a way to win and still has alot of growing to do. If you played Buffalo tomorrow you would be surprised I think.

The Chiefs are too well coached to fold down the stretch. In addition, our scheduale looks pretty soft and you guys still have the Steelers, Miami, Indy, and you are yet to travel to SD. I find it much more likely that the Raiders will come down to earth and finish with a worse record than the Chiefs.

i truly believe those loses were attributed to the Raiders own detriment but
the chiefs are coming out on top of games the raiders should have won… out side of the woulda coulda shoulda factor… good teams must win those games and Chiefs are a good team that are winning those games.
As the Chiefs are the statistically the best team in the AFC west, the Raiders are very much up to the challenge. One thing everyone thinks is that we lost to the 9er’s and blah blah blah but not everyone knows is they woke up a sleeping giant.

We have been favored in one game maybe? The only people who believe in the Chiefs are their fans. I think if we played like we did Sunday we might have some problems. We have won game after game in the black hole and I hope to keep it going. You dismantled a pitiful Denver team and then to give credit where it’s due beat the 4-2 Seahawks in an impressive win. We on the other hand blew out the 49ers stomped the jags and beat San Diego with special teams much as you did. The Colts and the Texans game we played tough until the end just couldn’t pull it out. I don’t see a blowout either way, but this is a crucial game. Neither team has won 3 in a row this season and come Sunday one will.
I hope your team feels that overestimating ourselves :)

I am the down to earth realist I believe. I’m not going to sit here and say we won so lay off. We went out today and played an incredibly sloppy game, the coaches made bad calls all over and we barely squeaked out a win with 5 seconds left in overtime. The Raiders stumbled out of the gate and I won’t give credit for beating Denver. They lost to the 49ers today. I won’t take credit for the Bills game either because it was atrocious. We are both DECENT teams this year. You are not great nor are we. This upcoming weekend will be a very important game. Whoever wins will be on a 3 game streak. This game could very well turn the division in one of our favors. This game is huge and it’s been awhile since I said that. As far as lucky yes we were today but usually I believe we earn a W. Today the Bills took the W and gave it back. Losing teams find ways to lose and for that thank you Buffalo. Just to add to this I am banned from AP therefore I hate them lol. I am a rebel Chiefs fan if that makes any sense. I do not agree w/ alot said over there and like to keep my judgment fair. If we got lucky I will tell ya, If we played good I will tell ya. I’ll give you credit your doing very well and pre-season I picked you for 2nd. It’s like this if you beat us next week or we beat you it still doesn’t answer my question because I am not POSITIVE about either of our squads. Call me crazy but I want the Raiders to win, not as much as the Chiefs obviously. The thing is who wants to win a division 7-9 and get rolled first playoff game? Who wants the AFC West to be the laughing stock of football? I want to win the division by going 11-5 and BARELY making it. We play the same three teams twice and If they suck what kind of practice or fun is that? I want to be the Chiefs of old that rattle off win after win. I want the Raiders to be coached by Madden and be mean as fuck. I want Elway always making me worry when we go up with 45 seconds. (You think did we leave him to much time?) I want the AFC West to be hungry and powerful and of course I want to win, but what’s winning against no competition. It’s like winning a race against a one legged man. Would you be proud? I want to come out of the Division ahead and looking into the playoffs thinking If I play these guys twice a year nothing worries me. We are getting there but work is to be done. So congrats on the win glad to see we can breathe some life into the AFC West!

I see for sure a one possession game and a fight until the end. We have a knack for beating you at home so that helps. I think we will split with us winning there IMO. Could go either way though it’s the Raiders and the Chiefs so who knows?? Coin flip I’ll take Tails.
We are only beginning to peak - the coaches are figuring out what works and what doesn't

As for more talent then any team in the AFC West I don’t know about that. You have some talented players, but that’s a judgment call. We have tons of very young and very talented plays still growing every week. The Chargers are full of talent too just wasted over there. I think we have two young talented teams who future is bright. We have got good bounces here and there but being 5-2 and losing only to the colts and texans is an impressive accomplishment for this team. If you guys were 5-2 no matter how the games played out you would be happy. You have had 2 good wins the last two weeks, but don’t look past us because we are becoming a good football team. We also do not turn the ball over so you will have to earn every point. We unlike Denver will not hand away 21 free points.
Fat chance of that. It wasn't easy focusing on Seattle and with our bye after this Sunday - it's all about this game

the only thing i think the chiefs have goin for them is the hype train but look at your schedule because its a shoe in that you guys should make the post season. only one team in the next 8 games are above .500.
so i wouldnt be surprised if you guys did make it because for us raiders we have an uphill battle.

I remember (from at least my childhood, which is fairly recent)
that at the end of the 90’s it was always the Raiders, Chiefs and Broncos beating each other in a triangular sort of way. Those were my ‘good ole days’, and to top that the first game I ever went to was that Monday Night game here at the Stadium where Elvis Garbac through a pass to Andre Rison to win the game for the Chiefs. Those were the days in which the AFC West was the BEST division in football. That’s also the reason why I still hate the Chiefs. lol

Then again, that seems like more trouble than it’s worth, and I’ve run into some classy people here.

What I am guessing we couldn’t do is go over to AP and put together a collection of low class quotes by Raiders fans.
The amount of Chiefs fans coming over to talk smack is at least ten times that of any other team.
As I said in another thread, every other week I have actually posted fanshots on the blogs of the opposition to come over, read my preview and engage in non-personal trash talk and only a few ever do and when they do, they have been polite.
I didn’t even bother with this game, because the Chiefs fans came on their own. Many of them have been great and considerate, such as yourself, but many were not.
So pardon the testiness, but some have grown cranky after a week of suffering through the ugly house-guests.
For what it’s worth, I think it’s entertaining and I enjoy the smack talk as much as the football talk. It’s like a roast.

We haven't played against a running game like KCs
but KC hasn’t played against a running game like ours, either. I also don’t think you’ve seen RBs deployed in the fashion we do, either. I know for a fact you haven’t seen a full back run and receive like Marcel Reese.
I expect what I’ve grown to expect over the course of my fandom. A close game that comes down to which team makes the fewest mistakes. If we can force some mistakes from Cassel or Charles early, it could get ugly, likewise if Campbell or DMC puts the ball on the ground…
I do think you’ll see more natural pressure from our front four than you’ve seen since Indy, and I’ll be willing to bet your interior line will see more pressure from our DTs than they’ve seen all year. Seymour and Kelly make our D go, if you can limit them, you’re in business…

Hey what can I say the Seahawks played a turd game and you guys showed up two weeks in a row.
As a Raiders fan that grew up two hours south of KC (Pittsburg, KS)
This is the best week leading up to this game in quite some time. I also need my Raiders to hold serve at home, or my facebook will get lit the fuck up by queef fans.
I think this game will be very entertaining as the two best rushing teams in football square off. While the Chiefs have the better stats, I think our RBs might be more versatile, especially our fullback. Don’t get me wrong, Jamaal Charles and Thomas Jones fall into my Derrick Thomas/Jerad Allen category of players I would be a huge fan of if they played for a different team. I just think our three headed monster of Reece, DMC, and Bush who can all break off long runs, but can also be factors in the passing game gives us a little edge at the position group. You do have the best named fullback in the NFL, though. Any announcer that doesn’t chuckle when he says “Mike Cox just blew that hole open for Jones.” needs to have his pulse checked.
When y’all have the ball, it’s going to come down to the trenches. I would imagine we’re going to stack the box to stop your running game, and hope for natural pressure from our front four when Cassell drops back. If we get that pressure, like we did against Seattle, it could be a very long day for your offense. We have to continue to attack. Is Lilja going to be healthy this week, or will the rookie Asomoah get another start this week?
Of your front 7 I’m only really scared of Dorsey and DJ, but they’re playing very well right now. I like your young secondary, but I’m hoping they’re planning on flooding the flats to stop DMC which should open some play action looks down the field. Make no mistake, our WRs are green, but they can fly. That said, I really like Flowers. I also like Carr, but think he can be beaten by straight speed…I’d like our passing game better if we were healthy, but we’re missing our top two WRs. Miller will be a matchup problem for you, as he is with just about everybody. If you can pressure Campbell, he’ll make some bad throws.
All in all, I think this is an evenly matched contest. I think we’re the more talented squad, but I give you the edge in coaching based on your coordinators, and the fact that Crennel is taking roughly the same cast of characters from last and getting much better production than Pendergast. Weis is doing what I expected, which is running the ball, and I’m seeing about the results I expected from that unit, though Bowe’s maturity is a surprise. I like what your secondary does in run support, but I think our teams have the same goals. Run the ball, stop the run, look for the occasional big play.
Special teams is a wash. Defense, to me, is a wash. Offense, to me, is a wash. I think this game will be a battle, but we get one more big play than you do Raiders 28-24.

Veldheer has trouble against power guys... he will shut down Hali. We went up against a cat named Clemons-
who is a pass rush/sack specialist and we shut him down. Clemons had 6 sacks in the season going into the Raider game and he had nil against us. I see Hali has 7 sacks…

I think I was banned for puting up a pic ..of Jamarcus Russell w/ no shirt on and a rainbow behind him and it said"GAY". My problem though is I was drunk and apologized 100 times and since then have been on the site hundreds of times to see people say "NO HOMO" and many other negative things said about homosexuals with not one mention of them getting in trouble. Also mine wasn’t to bash gays it was just a funny pic and funniest thing ever is it got rec’d before they banned me and deleted it lol. It was something personal and they just won’t admit it. I like Tamba Hali
but he’s really all you have in a pass rusher. He’s got 7 sacks, meanwhile our part time rush ends Wimbley and Shaugnessy have 5 each. Dick Seymour has 4.5, and Tommy Kelly has 3.5. Basically, when you’re in an obvious passing situation, you have pick your poison because all the guys lining up in the four man front can get to the QB…throw in the occasional safety blitz and it could be an ugly day for Cassel. Just ask Hasselbeck about our pass rush (8 sacks last week).
I’m really interested to see how your interior line (Waters, Weigmann, and my sources tell me Lilja will be back this week) fares against our DTs. It’ll be even more interesting if Big John Henderson is back this week. That matchup, IMO, will tell who wins the game. If our DTs can hold the point of attack, the running game has to bounce outside. While this may play to Charles strengths, it also plays to our pursuit. We need to put this game in Cassel’s hands…
I would imagine both teams will focus on stopping the run, as we’re the top two rushing teams in the NFL. I think our running game is a little more diverse because, while I like Thomas Jones, he’s not the true hammer we have in Bush. We’re also starting to see some end arounds that incorporate the skills of Jacoby Ford, Johnnie Lee Higgins, and even the break away speed of DHB…

but 60 less carries than AP. So if he avg 2 YPC for those 60 carries he still has more yards. In reality he would probably get 5 YPC or so seeing that he avg 6.5. That would make him 200 yards above AP.
That would also mean he has to be THE workhouse back.
How is his stamina you think if he gets 25 carries a game?
And yeah, he’ll probably get around 3-4 yards a carry. So would DMAC. :)

DMC for Charles?
nope. McFadden, when he’s healthy, is a tougher matchup. He’s 6’3" 220 and IF he’s slower than Charles, it ain’t by much. His size makes him more versatile in the passing. He’s just a better athlete, and he’s finally translating is athletic gifts to the NFL.
I like Jamaal Charles, but he’s not in the league of AP or CJ just yet. Neither is McFadden, but I think both can get to that level. Once you get to that level it’s a matter of preference, and I prefer the guys we have…McFadden will win the rushing title if he stays healthy the rest of the way…

Clearly neither team can look at what’s been accomplished by their squad this year and say “oh, there’s no doubt we’re better/will win” or anything of that sort.
Although based on overall yardage stats, we (meaning the S&B) have both the higher ranked offense and defense. Not that this matters all that much.
AFA the ‘talent’ question goes … it’s largely irrelevant IMHO. Raider have always had a ton of talent, but clearly they’ve not always been good because of it.
All you gotta do is look at the Browns beating NO at their house last week to know … talent ain’t everything by any stretch.
Hell, I wouldn’t even consider the Pats to be in the top 10 most talented teams this year. Esp. since they traded Moss and Welker is out. But they have BB and TB … which makes them a very good team.

Anyway the run game shows up every week and maintains ball control keeps our defense fresh and everyone actually believes we can win. We had alot of people step up at the same time and the results show. I would be honestly surprised if we got blew out any game this season. We are a running ball control offense and a bend but don’t break D. So far it’s been enough to rattle off wins though winning against good teams on the road has been a problem.

Yeah, there’s certainly a click over at AP. But how you describe it, is nothing like what I’ve seen over there the past two years. The people in the click are the ones that write the most. If you write, you’ll be part of that click you seem to secretly admire.
There are good writers and bad. Meaning it’s not a write off. Everyone respects each others views for the most part. I haven’t really seen anyone blasted off of AP without cause. They’re a pretty good bunch of people over there. I’m a little befuddled as to what the heck you’re talking about.
I’m not part of the click, because I don’t write much. The insight that everyone brings over there certainly keeps me entertained with my personal reading and that quenches my thirst just fine. If you’re jealous of certain writers that fine, but don’t bash your brothers in Red and Gold over at AP without cause. Geeeeesh.

I don't think the Chiefs stand a chacne and here's why
One of the Raiders’ goals this year is to win their home field, so far so good with only one loss to the Texans.
Another goal is to win their division, 2-0 so far.
And the way they’ve been playing with their guys out thus far this season, Schilens, Murphy, Gradkowski, McFadden, Gallery, Bush, have all been hurt on the offense.
It’s a good week for Nnamdi to be out too with Kansas City not having all that great of a passing game.
I say Raiders win 31-24. Chiefs will put up a fight, but too little too late.

I think we will control the ball knowing we need to win the TOP. Also we usually always win the turnover ratio battle. We run hard protect and control the ball. If we can keep the Raiders out of sync we should be able to get the W. Teams who win turnover and TOP stats usually get a W. We will not inflict self inflicted wounds and so the Raiders will have to fight for every point. I see it down to the wire with the Chiefs making the one big play to get the W. I know these two teams are nothing like last year or years before, but we do well in the black hole for some reason?

It does bother me too. The Saints went from 2 fans to an entire nation overnight lol. The one thing is right after Katrina they started playing better and it was a feel good story. We don’t throw alot under 45% percent of the time. We also have as of last week and maybe still the No.1 o-line. I am worried because Cassel has had a tendency of holding the ball to long. Seems recently though he doesn’t hold it long enough lol Yeah I mean to an extent I am I guess. I don’t see the pass rush being a huge factor but I do think you’ll get a couple sacks.

We don’t need no stinking blockers. They were drafted because they don’t need a line to run behind.
With that said, our wide receivers and tight ends are killing teams with they’re blocking skills. A beefed up O-Line from last years lousiness and things are going to be much more difficult for your D come Sunday.

I’m going off of sacks pressures and total rushing yards. I mean you can say were 2 or 3 but the point is were playing better up front. The one thing I know is we will be able to run the ball. We have faced good rushing D’s and still shredded them it’s what we do. If you take away our run(which I think is impossible) it could get ugly fast. If we have under 100 rushing yards it could be 33-3 raiders. We will rush for over a hundred and most likely over 200. Last week Charles had 240’ish yards all by himself.(counting receiving) I guess I’m saying if I had to pick which aspect of the game I’m most confident in it’s we can run the ball and will regardless.

Chargers & Houston rush defense are a joke and that fact that they have a pour secondary teams abandon the run to exploit their secondary. The Chiefs & Raiders did the same thing ran all over both these teams. The Raiders will be the your first team that is balance with the only weakness on our defense is the Offense.
On defense just like the Seachickens u guys havent been tested due to your pour secondary (23rd against the Pass) other then Houston who ran and passed succesfully. Other than the Colts(Chiefs) we faced the the Chargers and Houston just like youdid and we are ranked 5th against the pass.
We are ranked 26th against the run (CJ, A.F., F.G) and thats a result of our offensive woes. When are offensive is able to put up points we have no mental breakdowns on defense. And ur passing game does not scare us. If we get our offense to be cosistant like it has the last two games, you guys will be lucky to even get 100yds rushing.

HOU had a top 5 rushing D. So did SF. And SD has the #2 rated rushing D in the nation.

I think the Chiefs win also, but with the last game we played and the last game, they played and looked better. We will need our A game to win this divisional battle. If we show up like the team who played the Bills we could very well lose. If we show up with the team who played the 49ers then I see a W for sure.

CJ’s pick 6 was good coverage. How many picks have you guys had? Were those luck that you guys capitalized on? The fumbles was a product of hitting the ball out. When you punch the ball out, that’s not luck my friend. Our D stopped the Seahawks from scoring TDs, and we had +500 yards with only one play i can see as being lucky (Bush in the right place at the right time) but we put up points with our running game and passing. A couple of fans have told us we wont beat them because they wont turn over the ball or their stats are in their favor. But eventually you have to realize that anything can happen. You may think you’re not going to turn over the ball, but shit happens. Should be a good game. I’m looking forward to it.

The wins were nice no doubt, but i want to see more. Our defense is all about bring the house and allowing the corners to play up close and disrupt the rythm of the routes. We’re finally figuring out that just cuz we have a lead doesnt mean we let up.

The coaches cost us SF and probably Ariz too. No matter how hard players play, poor sets
tactics and game strategy can undermine a good team. But, they learned, albeit the hard way and we’re seeing the results of Oakland’s vast talent starting to be optimized.

here's my view
Bring back Madden and your 13-3 or 12-4. You have talent galore and sometimes dismal coaching. We had talent and no coaching and got some coaches and have already won more games then last year.
We got talent and coaching and the last two games have shown that.
What we lacked was poor execution on offense and defense. Our defense has leaned how to execute the blitzes successfully, and our offense is beginning to play as a team. The only only the Raiders have to avoid that just doesnt work in which is the reason we have given up so many passing TD is when we play the conservative zone defense in the redzone. This confuses more our players than it does the offense on on that mike williams dropped ball in the redzone Routt was confuse on where to be.

I dont believe the coaches cost us AZ and SF.
I say it was more on player execution than coaching. AZ game to many P.I of defense, and missed opportunites in the redzone (Delay of game on Bruce). SF awful play by Campbell and missed opportunities led to mentak breakdown of the defense.

We led at halftime w/o an offense and gave up the 5 man press on Smith who then proceeded
to pick us apart. On offense we ran an unimaginative set of plays ad nauseum. I don’t want to go through it again here (or anywhere) because it still pisses me off. But, because the following week and yesterday these same coaches demonstrated that they learned from their heinous crimes – I have forgiven them … unless they regress and then they shall be cast out with the damned.

This is the Chiefs first real test.
Dont be fooled by stats, stats can be deceiving. Although we are ranked 26th against the run this is a result of our offensive woes(a result of one play given to Johnson, Foster, and Gore). Our seconday is ranked 5th facing 3 of the top passing teams. (StD, Houston, Denver).
Ur team ranked 23rd against the pass and have faced three top passing teams(StD, Houston, Colts). Ranked 7th in rushing but have only faced one Rushing team A. Foster.
If we get consistancy on offense again i see our passing game open up the run for us as it did against Seattle (2nd ranked rush defense), but I dont see your passing game doing that for your guys. You will be lucky to get 100yds rushing rushing.

The way our team has been clicking on offense and defense. U have no passing threat on on offense even though u guys have a great rushing offense, in which should open up the passing game youre still ranked 32nd in passing. I see us stacking the line forcing Cassel to air it out. Dont rule out Nnamdi out yet if he playes expect zero cathces from Bowe.

To compensate, I’ll guarantee you see at least three end arounds, and some pistol read option looks…I say we go deep early, too. One thing we have at WR is speed. DHB and Jacoby Ford are two of the fastest players in the NFL, you come out stacking the box, and I can see these guys getting open…it’s just a matter of them catching it…

I mean I know we all love our teams… But give Houston and Indy a little credit. I mean, Indy DID win a SB recently, afterall. Unless ofcourse, your saying that your Raiders are a better team than Indy?

Indy has Peyton Manning. Our defense rattled him all game long. He didn’t throw a single TD against us.
Houston’s run defense was ranked fifth against the run when we played them. Incidentally, they couldn’t stop us either. No team has been able to even slow our running game, really. So..good luck with that Sunday.

Indy is one dimensional team
Houston we ran successfully against them to. Houston 5th rank defense at the time was ranked 1st when they played us and moved to 5th. Teams just avoided to run against them cause of their pour secondary coverage. This is a rivalry so all stats, and ranks our out it comes down to who wants it more.

Jamal Charles is third in ypc rushing at 6.5 yard an attempt. Mike Vick and Josh freeman are above him lol

than AP but 60 less carries
Chiefs and Raiders match up from a Raiders fan point of view...
Chief’s two headed monster, Charles and Jones are a deadly combination. Charles might be the 2nd most dangerous RB (C. Johnson) RB that we’ll have to face this year. He runs like a water bug with lightning speed. Only CJ looks faster. If he gets a seam or a corner, he’s gone. Cast off Thomas Jones is one heck of a RB that no one believes in. 30+ RB breaks the mold of being over the hill. LT is making a statement this year, but do not over look Jones. A lot of mileage on these tires but he is still making defenses look silly when he is in the ball game. Since both RBs run equally well, a lot of credit goes into the Chief’s offensive line. They’re getting the job done. It will be a big match up vs. Oakland’s D-line. Oakland’s rush defense has really improved the last two games, playing their gaps, swarming to the ball and they’ll need to really step it up vs. the Chiefs if they want a victory.
Cassel as a QB has improved, but he is still inconsistent. This is where they must blitz and rattle Cassel. I think if Cassel is given time, he can pick the Raiders apart. With Nnamdi out, it’s vital for the Raiders to blitz and be successful in getting to Cassel to mess up his timing. M. Mitchell can neutralize KC rookie TE and double coverage must be placed on Bowe. McClain and the Raiders LBs must cover the RB out of the back field. Cassel loves to throw to his RB and with their quickness they it’s just as good as a long hand off.
Raiders offense needs to continue to rely heavily on McFadden and Bush. Offensive line still making unnecessary false start penalties this late in the season, but they’re definitely a top 5 rushing team. With all of the injuries to the QB and WR position, I’m not sure how the passing game is holding up at times. Campbell who can look like J. Russell in a few earlier games, looks like he’s getting more comfortable and more confidence each and every game. Cable says Gradowski is the starter, but if Campbell pulls out another strong showing and win, it’s hard to pull him out as a starter. If Campbell plays confidently and within the game plan, he will be successful. Mainly throwing to the TE and RBs. It seems when the defense over loads on the RBs, Campbell has capitalized with big plays to his WRs. Credit Oakland’s new scheme and offensive coordinator with an excellent game plan. The offense is no longer predictable.
Only 35k fans when Seattle came into town. That’s pretty sad. No home field advantage there. I’m really hoping the die hard Raiders fan from southern Cal, mid-west, east coast, and pacific north west all show up for this huge game. This is a signature game and could be a deciding factor for the AFC West crown. Year in and year out, I’ve always stated the Raiders must win the AFC West. That should be the first goal each and every year. (Everyone wants to win the SB each year, but that’s not going to happen.) Winning your division will get you into the dance.

but I doubt it. Regardless of who wins, we’re not a team that’s built to fold. Too strong of a running game, too good on defense (well, maybe GOOD is a stretch, but decent).
I think if we bounced back after back to back losses on the road, we ought to be able to bounce back if we lose to you guys.

Crennel has had a big impact on our defense. He’s finally getting DJ to play the way he was supposed to when we drafted him.
Also, Dorsey has taken another giant step forward and is playing very, very well. Shaun Smith has been excellent as well (an odd surprise, but a welcome one).
Berry has been great against the run, and Flowers has taken that next step to shutdown CB level.
So there’s basically been a lot of in house improvement+a fantastic draft class. Add that to Jones playing well, Shaun Smith really helping our D-line, and Lilja+Weigmann being about 10x better than what we had at C and RG last year and that’s why we’re better in a nutshell.

Ive been around a while, and my first team was the RAIDERS, and when I take my last breathe it will be the RAIDERS….but has anyone noticed that especially in the AFC West, and especially with Oakland, that we can lose to the NFL cheerleaders, but give us the Super Bowl champs and its a hell of a game and usually an upset?!? this is
going to be a great game. I believe when it comes down to it , it will be our run defense (better than people say it is) vs your run offense(underestimated in my opinion) and our run offense(you’ve heard the stories) vs your run defense(very impressive). You guys have one of the best RB combos in football right now (since i’m a raider fan, i say you fall short to McFadden and Bush, many would probably agree anyway). Since our star corner is out i think you guys might be throwing the ball a lot as well. However in that situation we believe our D-line can come up BIG. as a defensive unit we are tied for third in sacks with 24 however you guys are fourth in points allowed (me thinks this will be a low scoring game). we are also fourth in Defensive TDs with 3 and are tied for sixth in fumble recoveries with 8. All in all, it is probably going to be a defensive game all the way.

AP had over 120(or 140?) yards against Miami.

Plus, I have been taught to be civil, and respect other fans. I acknowledge that I may not know as much as other teams fans as well. I am here to learn about them and their team(mostly the team) and it’s players. Talk about matchups, etc.(although, on the browns site, because we had an Ask pats Pulpit there, we ended up having a long discussion of movies over there. lol)

Why have the Chiefs struggled in the redzone on D this year?
Also, how has G Dorsey been? On paper the Chiefs D would look to be a little soft on the line and especially in the middle.

Your question is structured with the assumption that there are “major issues” in KC’s interior line. Though I will admit that is not our strongest feature, our D Line has not allowed a 100 yard rusher all season. Dorsey has came into his own this season anchoring the right side of the line commanding double teams as well as bring noticeable pressure to oppossing QB’s. Do you consider a 17.5 points against on defense a struggle???? Most of the TD’s scored against KC were etheir on Bombs early in the game or rushes late in the 4th. I would assume fatigue to be the cause of the latter.

There were no assumptions.
The Redzone D is way behind the total D. The Chiefs are 29th in the league in giving up TDs when the opposition is in the redzone.
As for the suggestion of softness, it was a question. As I said, the stats seem to suggest that, but I don’t know. That’s why I was asking.
The fact that you saw these questions and saw assumptions and then only addressed one question was where the defensive part came from.

The middle is softer but not soft. We have improved up front. The redzone…..good question play calling maybe? Execution probably? The weakness of this team as of today is pass coverage(not flowers) and passing the ball.

I was surprised at the redzone numbers and also the d’s run stuffed number. Your run D seems to get better as it goes back, which usually suggests better LB play then line play. Also, the numbers on the power plays 3rd, 4th down and goaline rushing situations are below average for the Chiefs. So, I was wondering if this was due to the D-line as well?
I can tell you, that it would benefit the Chiefs to take shots with the passing game when they get to the 30 in. The Raiders like to go to a zone in these situations and they have complete lapses at times, which lead to laughably easy passing TDs.

Those numbers are surprising
Part of it is that the Chiefs have had pretty big leads in games, and teams have needed 7 instead of 3 to try to get back into the game, San Diego, Houston, San Francisco.
But part of it is that the Chiefs defense gets tired when going up against dink and dunk offenses, Buffalo, Cleveland….
That’s my best guess because it’s a pretty shocking number, even after watching all the games.

The LB play has been pretty good(Hali) and (DJ) are by far the best combine that w/ Berry and D-line and we have good results stopping the run. Other than Hali the pass rush lacks therefore giving the QB to much time to find an open receiver. Flowers is amazing this year and Carr is ok but he gets picked on. Matt Cassel has played better the last couple of weeks but he worries me. He is not asked to do much so that makes me a little more comfortable. Thus far nobody has came close to stopping the run and I fear if someone does we will fall apart. Although I must say it will take a monster performance to stop these backs.The Defense in general had been from downright amazing a couple games(bills-49ers-colts) to decent(jags-chargers)to crazy breakdown mode(Texans). We have struggled on the road but have played Colts and Texans so who wouldn’t lol. This will be a great test for our team. The first game I feel we will be tested but can get a win. The Texans and colts game was ours but prior I didn’t see us really competing. This will be a marker for both are teams. If you win by a few your a decent team if you blow us out you are a serious threat. If we win were a decent team if we blow you out were a serious threat.

but thought I’d post it again, here’s to a good game Sunday, one that will be in classic Chiefs/Raiders fashion.
coming from a chiefs fan I think this is going to be one hell of a game. Like always it will be close and decided by a field goal. Game could go either way.
