'Mid-way' Raider Nation regular season outcome poll

This may seem a bit hypocritical from someone who sternly advocates focusing on one game at a time; but I am not perfect (no, please, I assure you, it is true) and it's a bye week and speculation is least harmful now. Anyway, I am curious to know what the Nation's opinion is currently about how our Win - Loss record will look at the end of the regular season.

Poll

I've adjusted up from 7-9 to 9-7

As great as the team has played over the past 3 weeks, they will need to continue to do it up against a more formidable schedule. 9-7 would mean us going 4-3 the rest of the way which I think is attainable. 5-2 may be needed to win the division, depending on how those wins are distributed and we maintain our edge in our division record.

I went with 10-6 with a 5-2 finish from here out

This may be a little too much to ask being that the team is young and still growing together, but this team is still young and is still growing and if they can mature and gain more confidence every week and grow into this offense ( with the coaches growing as well ) than I can see 10-6 and a team that is (as Rolando put it ) “pretty damn scary”

I hear you Rambis64

10-6 was my initial belief, at the begining of the season !! And it’s still possible !! But they gave away 3 games, otherwise we could’ve been looking at a possible 13-3 !!! I don’t see them making Those mistakes,(coaches or players) that lost those games, so 10-6 looks DAMN good !!!

by papabegood on Nov 12, 2010 9:10 PM PST up reply actions

My initial was 8-8, with a possibility of 9-7

I’ll stick with it.

I love the way that things have gone so far, at least in comparison with the recent past, but the tough part of the schedule is also coming up; it is easy to read too much into wins, and losses, against the soft part of the schedule.

10-6

like S-O-B said we got our shit together. 1 loss in the division and 1 outside with 2 of our five wins being blowouts. 10-6 AFC WEST crown

I wish I could say 11-5 but when I'm wrong the team always surpasses my expectations.

For a team that has gone 7 straight years with 11+ losses I thought 7-9 was the max. At the start of the season I thought we couldn’t go any worse but after the Titans game I honestly was thinking we could. As of now at the risk of getting my hopes up I am going with 7-9 since we haven’t done anything yet. 5-4 is a great place to be at the midway point however it could be better and also for all the talk about playoffs and a division title we have yet to lead for even a week in the division. I’ll play devil’s advocate and say 7-9.

I need to see how we do against pitt first.

as of now, I think we can be 5-1 in our division. At the least, we’ll be 8-8. At the most, we’ll be 10-6.

I’ll take 11 players with heart on the field over 11 guys with just talent. Talent is fleeting, it goes away over time. Heart is what drives you to be better. To push yourself beyond what you think your capabilities are. To show us that when you strive, all things are possible.- SMP

Pitt game will be be the benchmark

a 3 game win streak is unprecedented in the dark age of Raider football so coming out of a bye on the road against a formidable opponent will be very telling.

I love the fact that we have a bye before pitt.

If there is any time that we have the best chance to defeat a playoff caliber team, it is now.

I think the raiders can win it, but it will b very difficult.

On the other hand, we've won something like 1 out of 7 coming out of the bye

Yet another test of how much the Raiders have (or haven’t changed)

voted, 10-6

up from start of season’s 9-7.

by Realtooreal on Nov 12, 2010 3:55 PM PST reply actions

I said we'd prolly go 8-8 this year but halfway into the season, I'm thinking we go 10-6 at best

But our QB play tells me that that is highly unlikely. So I’ll say 9-7 is the best we can do until Campbell and/or Grads can step up our productivity in the passing game. That 18-20 yards passing in the first half shit can’t happen if we want to go anywhere this year.

I am a little worried that they will still be without Nnam and Zach

Just split the next two and I am happy.

Then keep kicking the hell out of the AFC West! That’s 9-7 right there. Then I don’t think it is too crazy to think they can handle Jax. 10 wins and the postseason.

Anyone know the last time the Raiders went undefeated in division play?

Win the next 2 and I'll be happier

Winning out in divisional play would be huge, but it won’t be easy, as all will be gunning for us. If we did run the division and took down Jax.then we would still need one win out of the Pitt. Mia.& Colts to reach the 10-6 record that would get us into the playoffs. If we went 5-1 in the division we’ll have to win 3 games out of Pitt. Mia. Jax. and Ind.

I want to say 10-6

but I just don’t know. I hate to say I have no confidence in things working out but I really don’t. I like the wins but just not a believer. Maybe because I can’t stand coach laying cable. Somehow the fat bearded man will foul it up.

8-8 will be good enough in my view, after all these horrible seasons.

by Al's Wingman on Nov 12, 2010 8:24 PM PST reply actions

to finish with 3 wins out of the next 7, after how we've exceeled the past 3 weeks, would be depressing. This game is key

because of our terrible history after a bye week. If we get over that negative streak (how many negative streaks put behind us would that be so far this season?) then there may be no stopping us.

Must game for sure

I don’t like the pittsburgh offense at all. The way the steelers win is through their defense ,which keeps the score close and gives the offense a turnover or two to kick a field goal or get an easy score.
That being said , scoring EARLY (like in the opening drive) works wonders in this game. Their backers are too good to fool with screen passes unless we set up the pass with the run,and do it well which will be tough (they rank #1 in run defense). THAT being said I say we come out early and stretch the hell out of the field with a mixture of intermediate to long pass routes, and set the run up with the pass. The only way that happens is to make first downs, and keep th D on the field and wear them down. THEN start throwing D mack and Bush at them in the 2nd half. This guy Brett Valjalo had an idea in another blog that ‘s a bit far fetched ,but got my attention. Campbell is touted as the starter all week and when game day arrives number 5 rolls out on the first series. I don’t like JC for this one with the pressure he’s going to see. Bruce has been up that mountain and back again with a win, I hope he’s healthy 8 days from now. R.F.F.R.
