Back home by midnight, 6 1/2 hour drive. Great seats and good tailgaiting with The General and DC Metro boosters. Various Nation fans from all over and quite a few from Oakland. My buddy and I stayed overnight before the game and had a great dinner at an Italian place called Zarra's in the Oakland district of Pittsburgh near the medical center and U of Pitt.
After 3 quarters, I told my buddy, "we showed up, how come the Raiders didnt?" I will tell you my bros, if it looked bad on TV it looked worse from inside Heinz Field!! The game from our side, both offense & D, was in disarray and each team exchanged too many penalties and roughing the passer calls....one too many for us. It was ugly and after Grad threw that drive killing pick you may as well have stuck a fork in it. I will leave the statistitions and game meisters in here to dissect the game...long drive home after a brutal asswhipping.
I will note this: The people we met in yellow and black were by far the coolest people of the day. All the people we met were classy, personable, charitable and that was BEFORE the game even started. Most of the Steeler fans talked about the rivalry and when we dogged each other out it was in good fun and not bullshit. The experience of wearing a Silver & Black jersey while surrounded by 60,000 yellow & black jerseys, and not getting any shit said something about the Pittsburgh fans: When theyre in Oakland, treat them the same way.
