Captain Of The Tailgate: Saint's Tips

God, I love Captain Morgan and I am stoked that they are sponsoring this tailgate series. I tailgate at every Raider Home Game and many Oakland A's games and I can honestly say that I have drank more Captain at these events than any other libation including water!!!

So, thanks Captain for this sponsorship and now I want to impart a tailgating trick that I learned from Left Field Gus.

The Easy Tailgate Bin

Years ago I found out how easy it is to have a tailgate when you load all of the essentials into a storage bin that can live in your trunk or be easily packed on game day. For those of us who always forget something, cups, napkins, etc, this is the most sure-fire way to avoid not packing something.

First off, start with a medium sized storage bin. Next you want to make sure that you buy a small charcoal grill. It is important that you get one that has ventilation on the bottom, because many of the small grills have solid bottoms.

The second thing you want to make sure that you have is a bag of charcoal and a chimney to get the coals going. Be sure to throw yesterday's newspaper in  the bin as well since that will be what you need to start the coals in the chimney. I also recommend one of those long lighters going into the bin.

Make sure that you have ketchup, Tommy V's hot sauce, salt, pepper, garlic salt, plastic silverware, cups, napkins and paper plates.

By having all of these well stocked you can be a tailgating machine. No more last second packing and forgetting things or running late.
