Oakland UP in Power Rankings
Raiders are ranked at 12 in ESPN.com, 15 at S.I. and at 17 at Fox Sports.
Oakland is looking good, not only to us, the ones who keep the flames burning and buy the jerseys and teeshirts but to the sports writers who finally woke up and took notice of something other than Brett Favre's #4" pecker or the drama that has befallen the angel McNabb at the hands of Ratman in DC. The Greek Tragedy of Jerry Jones' Team America sucking and the woe is us bullshit they have become. As for me, I am so tired of being on the backburner of highlight films and the obligatory one second score announcement while we stare endlessly at Troy Palomalu's hair on Fox and listen to Bradshaw act like he really cant spell 'cat' or to the excuses or jabs made for every other QB in the league by Joe 'choked against Oakland' Theisman and whatever asshat is in the booth.
Good to kick ass & take names again, Raider brothers & sisters.

It was nice to see today, moving into 12th from 16th last week. I believe we started the season at 27th. Now, to break
into the top 10 with a win in Pittsburgh … That’s the company we belong with now and may we never leave it.
S-O-B: ITS HOW I ROLL, DEAL WITH IT.
Those fox rankings are ajoke
How do you put the Rams ahead of us? We have a better record, we’re in a better division, and — oh yeah — we beat them!! And the Chiefs are 5 spots ahead of us, even though we beat them with our B squad 2 days ago?
Do they pay the people who make that list?
Also gotta love that New York bias.
Imagine
sebass makes the FG vs Cards were 6-3, we score a TD vs 49ers were 7-2; best record in the league
Success is not measuredby what you accomplish, but by the opposition you have encountered, and the courage with which you have maintained the struggle against overwhelming odds...
-Orison Swett Marden
yes we should have won against the cards
but SF we just plain sucked! play was flat on both sides if the ball and we looked like shit! but against the fucking redbirds if the fucking polock cannon had not woken up bleary eyed with a couple hookers we would have won that game! I dont care if he blames it on the hangover or the crotch rot he still should have fucking come thru! but we have won 3 in a row including 2 against div rivals especially the most hated queefs and I am satisfied! we are a legit team and if we can beat big bung and pocahantas in shittsburg we can do anything! just dont let Jano fuck a sheep!
"Just Win Baby" is not a philosophy, it is a way of life!
I'm still bitter about SF and I suppose it's good to remember that low point. But Jano has been 14 out of 16 since Arizona
and Sunday he had back-to-back clutch kicks.

We played as badly against KC in the first half
as we did vs. SF; JC had as QB rating of like 8 . . .
We have to get things rolling our way and right away to avoid such horrible displays of Raida football, methinks.
As one of my brothers on the KC game thread said right after Johnson got called on that first quarter Pass Interference (a horrible call as it was really textbook coverage):
“it’s calls like that that suck the air out of our team and take away tenuous early game momentum.” (Well, it was something like that…). That call gave KC the ball in the RZ and they scored. Very much like the blown call on Miller’s “fumble” also led to a touchdown.
I think the Raiders share that sentiment
Ever since losing to SF these guys have been on an absolute tear.
I think losing to them woke them up with a big bitchslap to the face. I don’t know about you guys, and I know it is against everything we stand for, but I’ve been thanking all the SF fans at my work for awakening the monster that is the Oakland Raiders.
We were mediocre until that loss, and now these guys are playing with a real chip on their shoulder from top to bottom.

I think that Bitch slap......
Probably came from Seymour, If anyone !!! It’s funny how if not for, 1 big run, in the Tenn., Texas, & SF games, They’re Running game was Shut Down !!! Yet supposedly, our run D, was still in the Toilet !!! From 31 to 12, and now overall #7 !!! One of My first post, “We Can Win With Defense” is coming to be as true a statement that could’ve been made!!! This Defense Can get us into the playoffs, Long as they (the Offense) keep taking care of the ball, clock management, and keep OUR “D” fresh !!! Now with the BYE, we can get healthy, Henderson, Murphy, Miller. No , I didnt forget about Chaz….. I just don’t know what to say or think, when it comes too HIM, GET WELL SOON ??? A well deserved rest is in order, perfect timing for the bye !!! Come BAck Monday, and It’s all about prepping for Pittsburgh, and they’re very beatable!!! Cincy showed that Monday Nite !!!
I've said it in other posts
But if we do something big this year, playoffs or more it’s going to be with our Defense and our running game.
The D-Line took that shit talk personally, and now they are attacking even harder then before. Richard Seymour must have heard the haters at the beginning of the year who said he couldn’t be an effective DT in a 4-3. I hate to say it but all those people are right. He’s not effective in that spot……He’s flat out Dominant. He’s been making Pro Bowl guards look like pre-school kids out there.
As long as we can move the chains running the ball, with the occassional throw to keep defenses honest, we can beat any team in the league. Cut down on a few mistakes and get a healthy team and we are definately trouble.

The niner game was really about bad coaching
I just can’t blame the players for that one. Our coaches seemed to be afraid of the niner “D” and it showed, Terrible play calling on Hues part. if anything I think the niner game woke up the coaching staff and got them to “Just cut loose”. That in turn helped our “D” by keeping them off the field and rested and I think the “just cut loose” thing inspired John Marshall too.

Now we gotta
figure out how to frustrate the Steeler run game, and disrupt their passing rythm.
We’ve inflicted more stuffs and sacks than them, but they’ve collected more interceptions.
Let’s see, strip em’ and rip em’ has worked so far, so I say go with that.

No.
Seymour can do a lot of things, but I wouldn’t ask him to pull that off.
Mostly cause I’m scared of what he’d do to me if I suggested it.

PIT LT Starks placed or IR
with herniated disc in cervical spine, they will either be starting current RT Flozel Adams or a back-up at LT, plus I believe their rookie stud center Pouncey is banged up, at least was last week again the Bungles. And if I remeber correctly, Adams was brought in after another starter was lost for the season early on.
This all bodes well for RS, TK, LH, MS, bring it bring it bring it, BigBen is tougher than most to bring down, but certainly isnt mobile, never has been, but damn hard to tackle, we WILL get to him, and we must use good form and get that beyotch on the ground early and often.

And don't go flying over the top
of Roth when he does that bending manuever. It’s amazing, especially in the Super Bowl, how often he throws off a pass rusher like that.
The Pass Rush
Has been on point. If the Raiders put the heat on Big Ben then watchout! That DLine is getting after it. But it’s the offensive line that’s keep the defense off the field that is really helping the Raiders late in games.
The rookie Jared Veldheer looks to be an anchor on this offensive line. big man has stepped up! Just keep getting that push and keep Campbell off the ground.

Vitto Tafur wrote yesterday...
Feeling too good(?): Tackle Khalif Barnes partied like a rock star after his touchdown catch Sunday, and roommate Shaun Bodiford said he won’t stop talking about it.
“That’s why O-linemen can’t catch balls,” Bodiford said. “He thinks he’s a tight end. He thinks he’s better than (Chargers tight end Antonio) Gates.”

I read that article yesterday
and I say let Khalif party like a rockstar if he wants too. A lineman that can catch a pass for a touchdown is an asset and something opposing D-coordinators will have to consider when we’re in the red zone. Another red zone weapon is a good thing and I wish Khalif many more TD celebrations.
JUST DOMINATE BABY !!!
Kelly and McClain also gave great interviews. The more I get to know these guys the more I love them.

True that. I think they miss the point...
That formation worked, because every time prior, and the week before on tape, we check Khalif as an eligible lineman, effective a third TE in a two TE set or a second in a single TE set. The G and T on the side with the extra TE (Khalif in most cases, though we’ve used Pears and even Walker) block down, with the opposite side G and T pulling. It created monster holes and yards for McFadden. I’m sure KC saw this on film, and thought they were getting the same thing. Since it’s been so effective, Hue was able to run play action on it, knowing Khalif would go uncovered. Brilliant.
I love it, and know we would not be seeing this kind of creativity were Cable still flummoxed by playcalling, something with which he certainly should never have been burdened, and sucked as a result, but perhaps the bigger loss was not having Cable to do the things a head needs to do, and more importantly, with the line where he excels.
Party on Khalif, party on! Let’s just keep these creative blocking alignments coming! They help us neutralize pass rushes and relieve much of the pressure off lineman, which is exactly what we need right now.

Thanks! I think...NE gave us some nice blueprints for success in Pitt
which we should be able to execute even more effectively, especially on the defensive side of the ball, with far better defensive personnel, and the production to prove it.

My only concern is the Bye-week curse (7 losses in a row off the bye)
and the team starting to feel good about themselves (which is a luxury reserved only for the fans at this point).
We are healthy overall (Asom1 is still unconfirmed) and Pittsburgh is banged up. We’ve had a lot of time to game plan for Pitts and Hue knows their D well. It’s for everyone to stay focused but mostly it’s Cable’s responsibility to keep everyone on edge – the prize is obtainable if we can only continue on our present course.

That was the Raiders of years past
not this team! This is the year for breaking all the bad streaks and curses! Onward and upward! The only streak we’ll continue is our dominance over this Pittsburgh team under Mike Tomlin!
It’s Hue vs. Dick Lebeau! One for the ages!!! RAIDERS OWN THIS!!!!!!!!!!!!

Update on Rankings
I almost shit myself when I saw the supreme haters, ProFootballTalk.com and Mike Florio, who has a serious attitude towards all Silver & Black had this to say:
“9. Oakland Raiders (No. 11; 5-4): Only Tom Cable could be a coach of the year candidate while still on the hot seat.”
Of course he couldnt resist adding that blurb about Cable. (even if it’s true!!!)

Eh. I think Cable WAS on the Hotseat earlier this season.
Now… not so much. Unless he looses the rest of the games imo.

I’ve always had a soft spot for the Panthers because their colours are the same as my favourite rugby league team (who I would have played for had I not had two major knee injuries before my 16th birthday) but they gonna get killed by the Ravens.
