Thank you Miami as well! He could have been your future Pro Bowl Fullback! I can't blame Miami too much for not being able to see what the Raiders coaching staff was able to see in Marcel Reece. Miami simply thought they brought in an undrafted free agent WIDE RECEIVER from the University of Washington. They cut a talented guy that they didn't think was quite a good enough receiver to make the team. I am sure they wish they had realized just how talented this young man is. So in 2008 the Dolphins cut Marcel Reece who later in the year signed with the Oakland Raiders. That same year upon bringing him into Oakland the Raiders decided to have Reece make the switch to Fullback. Any major position change takes a little while to adjust to, as we can see by Reece's emergence as a top player at the position across the whole wide world of the NFL.
Marcel Reece is comfortable at the position now! My goodness, you just look at the guy play and he just completely embodies the image to me of a fullback. It is a true credit to the Raiders for coming up with the idea to have him make this position change. He couldn't be happier with it, unless I am reading too much into this quote from him. "It's been fun for me, to say the least," Reece said. "I came here as a receiver, woke up, and I was a fullback. Three years later, it's just about embracing it. It's an understatement to say I'm more comfortable. I just feel like I'm coming into my own." I found this quote in a great Associated Press article on NFL.com entitled "Raiders' Reece has more to celebrate than his own good fortune" and i really think it just shows the culture adjustment that has been taking place in Oakland. I love to hear Raiders players saying the right things in the media and believing in themselves and this team in a way we hadn't seen in a long time
Reece is the ultimate professional. Humble, and hungry to show the world he is here to stay. His 73 yard TD last week truly did spark our victory and his 51 yard TD against Seattle showed such concentration and determination that it was sincerely inspirational. He is 4th on our team with 23 receptions and he is tied for 2nd in touchdown catches with Darren Mcfadden, only behind Zach Miller who was having a Pro Bowl caliber year as well until injuries have derailed him lately a bit. Marcel Reece is a wonderful Christmas gift Santa! Even better than my new Raiders hat!
