T.O. to Oakland?
One year ago, speculation was that Oakland could be a potential landing spot for T.O. after his release from the cowboys, only to sign with the bills shortly after. One year later that same speculation is at it again. ESPN's Adam Schfter reports via twitter That T.O. could be on his way to oakland. "Next stop for Terrel Owens could be the black hole and the Oakland Raiders! This according to Espn's John Clayton." T.O. is in his 30's already, but wouldnt be a bad option for the raiders at this point. Plenty of pros and cons to this one, so what do you think Raider Nation, should we welcome T.O. with open arms or say thanks, but no thanks?

All we need is another cancer when we already got rid of almost every single one!

Well,
Sadly enough, I wouldnt be too upset about this. Vetran leadership for Louis, Chaz and Darrius wouldnt be that bad to have around. Plus, He would bring more media to Oakland and maybe even Hard Knocks. I love that show!
If winning isn't everything, why do they keep score?

Torn
It has been said that the Raiders WRs need some leadership. Certainly they can be taught to run better routes. Is TO the guy to show the how to practice and run routes? I don’t know.
tim brown has offered us help and LEADERSHIP for free and AL passed
he will pass on this aswell. does MOSS ring any bells. this guy would drive us apart, we are very similar to buff and he didnt light it up for them last year. but if there was a guy to run JR outta town TO would be that guy!

No T.O.
he would be like having a older, less talented, Randy Moss and we all know how that turned out. That kind of leadership we can do without. I for one don’t want our kids to learn how to whine, bitch or snivel. If he could come in and be the kind of mentor/leader we all would like to see that’s one thing but that would be like asking JaCarass to come in and work hard and expect it all to work out OK
Owens
I don’t think he’s an older and less talented version of Moss if he wants to be here. By comparison, Schilens is a younger and less talented Moss. If T.O. wants to be here, he isn’t Moss.

But still, imo, he WILL be a Productive "Cancer" if we sign him, the same could not be said for Warren or any other cancers like Porter back in the day
This guy is basically unblockable and its hard to deny him the ball. I understand he’s old and is a prima-dona but he IS a threat when he steps on the field which makes me consider him.
The RaiderLaker
Why the hell not?
Owens may be crazy but you know what this team could use some personality and the great Raider teams were filled with nuts.
I won’t pretend that I saw many Bills games last year so I don’t know how much gas T.O. has in the tank but if he can still play then bring him in as the Raiders could use some help at WR.
Last year for T.O. 55 catches for 829 yards and 5 TD’s which is better than any Raider WR last season.
Seriously!!!!

I'll give DHB more time to prove himself
plenty of guys struggle their first season but if his hands don’t improve it won’t matter how fast he is.
Sure, he has had only really had half a year
of playing anyway. If he had not been drafted were he was nobody would be saying anything
That's a good point rambis
if DHB were drafted 27th or something people wouldn’t have made such a fuss.
SERIOUSLY!!!!

Production
Owens actually looked a lot better out there when Fitzpatrick was throwing to him instead of Edwards. I think if we target him the way Fitzpatrick did, he should improve upon those numbers.

If he had success with Ryan Fitzpatrick
then he can have success with anyone. Like I said the more I think about it the more I like the T.O. idea.
Right
The only question mark is his attitude and he was fine in Buffalo. If that’s the case, I want him here.
With the lack of interest, the money shouldn’t be an issue. In government class this year, I learned that the price will go down if the demand is down. Well, the demand for Owens is down. We could get him for cheaper than the Bengals got Bryant.

Oh a lot cheaper and it would probably be only a one year deal.
Supply and demand in government class? Hmm that would be taught in an economics class where I teach.
It’s good they don’t make me teach it as I can barely balance my checkbook let alone teach economic theory.
Sorry
Over here, we have government and economics together. It’s taught by the same teacher. For the first semester, it’s government. For the second semester, it’s economics.

I saw too many
Living in TO I will tell you I see far too many Buffalo Bumblers games. TO dropped a lot passes last year, BUT I am not sure he likes the cold weather. He performed well in SF when he was there and I think MAYBE we can get him cheap and then unload some of or WR population for draft pix. I say take him BUT at a good price, see how he shows up for training camp and then cut the cancer free IF he starts to be TO from Philly OR DallASS.

Sign him
He was barely ever in the media in Buffalo because he has matured a bit. They stunk just like we did, and he didn’t complain about it. He could have a lot better year with us if Gradkowski is getting him the ball, and he has Schilens, Murphy, Miller, McFadden, and maybe DHB to take defensive coverage attention away from him.
I could see him helping the young guys too
Chaz Schilens is built like a younger T.O. They are both around the same size and have similar physical abilities. T.O. could help teach them some trciks of the trade, and he could really help them moving forward. The receiving group really has no veteran, so it would be smart to bring in a future hall of famer to help them out.
The school of T.O.
first class….how to throw your quarterback under a bus…I agree he might not be a great mentor for the young WR’s but if he can still play I want him.
I agree, the offense needs more talent
and if he can still play and come in at a reasonable rate, then by all means go for it.
The Airman of Westwood
Hey, Throwing your your quarterback under the bus might be a good thing if it's JaBumkas. T.O. could tell him off and tell him he'll never make it if he stays overweight and doesn't fix his mechanics.
I doubt T.O. would throw Gradkowski under the bus because Gradkowski is good for one, and Gradkowski doesn’t have an ego like the QB’s that T.O. has gotten into it with. T.O. would probably love to play with Gradkowsni. Throwing him cross patterns and lobs when he’s one on one. It could be like when T.O. was with Garcia (not as good becuase T.O. is older now), minus the negative attitude towards each other.
The bus might not make it over JaMarcus' belly
T.O. would probably turn on whoever the QB of the Raiders is as none of them have the rep of Garcia,McNabb or Romo but so what as it’s usually the second season that he causes havoc and I’m looking at him mainly for next year as he’s getting up there in age.
Work Ethic
If anything, the guy has worked hard and that has helped him become one of the greatest receivers in NFL history.

If he wants to be here....
and it came at a reasonable price… by all means I would love it…
Having just renewed my season tickets again, it’d be nice to see a future hall of famer playing on the offensive side of the ball (no, I’m not referring to Jamarcus :) )
Me Likey
Take a little of that pressure off of miller, open up things for the young guys…i likey.
OK BUT HE HAS TO PLAY TIGHT END LIKE HE DID IN COLLEGE!!!!

Not a terrible idea.
Realistically. What could be the worst possible scenario? He has a bad season? He would still probably surpass most of the receiving corps. I truly dislike the match-up of JaMarcus and him. but Bruce " Almighty" Gradkowski. That could be VERY interesting.
I think
TO would fit nicely. I’ll catch a lot of hell from my Raider-hating cronies, but, I think TO would be a nice option. I have always said we need a veteran wideout to help the boys along——I wouldn’t choose TO first, however, I would take him in a flash if he wants to come.

Would...
rather let the young receivers develop. If we play TO, then their time gets cut, and their development slows. We are not a playoff team, let the youngsters play.

Why do we have to get the "troubled" vets
and if we have too get a troubled vet receiver why can’t we get Brandon Marshall at least he catches everything thrown his way. I suppose there is no way in hell Denver would trade him to us.
OK

T.O. drops a lot of balls
If, as suspected, JaMinkus is our starter. He only gets the ball near a receiver every once in a while. We can’t afford any dropped passes.
I'm for giving Bey another year. T.O. will only be himself, i.e. he'll be there next year for "the team of last resort"
Hell ya
we drafted the kid #7 he has got to be givin a chance to develop, he might need more than one more year though, maybe 2, but at least he is here and taking throws from Grad. concentrating on football and not being King Walnut at the Walnut Festival or whaterver
WHY NOT
if the price is right and the tenure is one year he couldn’t do anything but help. one thing is for sure he will work and play his ass off on sundays and he hates to lose so he could be good pick up for the short term until the young guys get a little more game savy under thier belts ……..hell fellas lets be honest right now TO doesn’t sound too bad of an option considering there are no real free agent prospects out there and we have no proven recievers on our roster right now….hell the more I type the better signing TO sounds to me…….he can’t hurt us any more than we already do.
What's a one-year plan worth? If we were a player away from the title that's one thing but to bring in a disruptive element
for a single year when we’ve got a quickly improving receiver corps that’s running routes, getting open and holding on. Plus we need to get Bey and McFadden more involved in the air attack- McFadden especially.

marcell reece looked damn good lined up as a reciever aswell.
is he gonna be around next year?
by rodeosnake12 on Mar 12, 2010 10:22 PM PST up reply actions
If its a cheap price for 1 or 2 years then yes.
I don’t think he is another Randy Moss though. For all the headaches & drama he’s surrounding himself with for years; I’ve never seen him quit running routes. He does drop quite a few passes & he has lost a step but the dude practices & plays hard. I think a fiery guy to yell when something doesn’t go the way we all want may be missing (Ex. see Gradkowski). This team needs some passion & for a 2 year deal for about $7 to have TO in the slot running corner routes & crossing patterns seems like a pretty decent signing.
IN CASE
you havn’t noticed todays nfl is nothing but one year plans for the teams. it is not too far fetched to say that a team that had a sub five-hundred record last season will make the play-offs and have a shot at a championship then the next year be back to 8-8 or worse it happens damn near every year. this is not the 70’s or the 80’s you have to catch lightning in a bottle and run with it and I’m not saying that TO is the answer but he cant hurt right now,mix him in with the talent that we have and the scoring from the offense might come in the form of six points more often rather than 3 from long range….lets just call him a patch player until the other recievers mature into consistant threats themselves. you cant tell me that you wouldn’t love to see the RAIDERS in a play-off hunt in late december or just 8-8….adding TO will not hurt the long term success of this team it might actually get the ball rolling in the right direction….if the RAIDERS have a good draft and get o-line and d-line help this team could be on the road back to success.
We are on the road to success (even [somehow]with Cable still HC)j and I don't believe sub-.500 teams can make it to the SB
in one season – it’s never happened so you’re blowing smoke on that claim.

TO to Oakland won't happen, Lombardi said yesterday
According to Mike Lombardi of the National Football Post, a union between free agent Terrell Owens and the Raiders “won’t happen.”
The match is ideal on paper, but Lombardi is trustworthy as an ex-Raiders personnel man. He notes that Al Davis doesn’t like competition, and T.O. plays the same position as 2009 first-round pick Darrius Heyward-Bey. With five months before Week 1, we can safely say the Raiders’ QBs are doomed. Mar. 12 – 2:11 pm et
Source: National Football Post
Lombardi was the guy saying all along Al would draft DHB last year.
As an ex-Raider personnel man I would actually pay attention to what he says actually moreso than say the idiots on Yahoo sports.
He can be an idiot at times as well, demonstrating his bitterness towards the organization, and his epic failure as a so-called journalist
of remaining subjective.

No, absolute
positively not! This is coming from a guy, who sees the pats face the bills twice a year. BELIEVE me you don’t want him.
T.O. is the last player Oakland needs.
If TO thinks he had it bad in the other stops around the league wait til he gets a load of the Raiders Offense. How many passes were thrown to WRs last year? What was DuhMarcus’s passer rating? How long would it take for him to have a media melt down? Oh I’d say somewhere in the preseason. He’s just a cancer to a team struggling to find some life and direction. Bad fit……….
T.O. Show
I believe he can come to Oakland and revive his career just like Jerry Rice did in 2001 and 2002.
