B-Grad is at the facility...ALREADY.
Apparently, Bruce is at Alameda working on his mechanics and stuff....RIGHT NOW. No JaMarcus, no Frye.
This was completely different from his KNBR interview posted earlier on this site by our very own B.A.Armstrong.
Check this Link out:
http://www.sfgate.com/cgi-bin/blogs/raiders/detail?&entry_id=58835
And I quote Bruce Gradkowski after being asked "Who is he working out with at Alameda?",
"When I was back in Pittsburgh, I'd bring my dad to the gym and he'd strap on some gloves and he'd catch a few balls for me. Since I've been out here, a lot of players aren't back yet but a couple of times I was throwing with Darrius Heyward-Bey, other times it's our equipment managers but whoever's around that can just catch a couple balls for me, it helps. I'm excited to get started because it's going to be one of the first years, I'd like to get it started from the get-go and see what we can do with it."
Other quest - WAIT WHAT?
"Since I've been out here, a lot of players aren't back yet but a couple of times I was throwing with Darrius Heyward-Bey--"
So the Rookie, Drops Hella Balls, isn't only practicing with grad, but it as the facility THIS EARLY AS WELL?
*breathes deep* let me finish this post.
In the interview, he also talked about speaking with Rich Gannon all the time, his rehabbing going well, him looking at this season as optimistic for the Raiders, and his history with Jeff Garcia.
But back to my beaming. Why? Not only has he been rehabbing, and says that he's going to be ready for the season, he's training with out youngest receiver, who needs help catching as it is. They're establishing a VERY important relationship with each other, and they are learning what they each are comfortable with.
and Where is JaMarcus? Not at the facility - where he NEEDS to be. Unless he really is getting training with a QB coach to fix himself.
With that being said, I would like to Quote Deion Sanders from NFL network again:
"I BELIEVE IN DOC. B!"

I read this article this morning,
And I was ecstatic..not because Bruce was there, but DHB was there as well! For a rookie to be doing that, it says something about his character…that he doesn’t care about the money right now..he wants to get BETTER…to prove the critics, even all of us here at this blog WRONG.
I’ll take that ANY day.

I havent quite odubted him yet
I actually stick up for him, You cant blame the dude that he had JR throwing at him 90% of the time. Plus, Its rare for a rookie WR to have a good year, even with a good QB.

Seriously!!! Wow!! Screw it Don't bring in TO, I change my mind. I see that DHB is building Chemistry, thats good shit right there man.

He may turn out to be like a super fast version of Curry if he works hard. The reason why is because Curry always caught balls with his body/chest, but can still be successful.
btw is curry out of the league? sad, very sad.

Are you joking? did you ever see those miracle one handed catches by Curry!?!?

Curry had 2 of the most spectacular catches I’ve ever seen. The one in the Denver snow may top them all.
The Airman of Westwood
The former qbs have a certain advantage, understanding from both the passer's and receiver's perspectives
I believe Curry’s been unable to pass physicals at this stage of his career, and the medical risk factor coupled with age make him a no go for most teams.

Where is J-Rock?
It’d be nice to find out more on this deal about him being training with staff supposedly .. It just goes to show that Gradkowski has the drive and motivation, and WANTS to lead this team to victory. It’s good to see that DHB is actually putting in work as well. This is good news, indeed.

Sadly
They will probably start JaGimpy. Afterall, he does have the big contract and all.
Refuse to tiptoe through life only to arrive safely at death
Al pays attention
to these things. JaFumble will probably still get a shot due to the #1 pick and tons of cash he is making, but if he blows it for a few games (and he will) then Bruce will get the ball. I see good things in this guy, I hope he does get a shot again, and I hope our line can keep him off his back and off of the IR.
"We can't stop here... This is bat country."
Im well aware of the fact that JR will start the season at #1.
I think we all know that, Its pretty much gonna give us a 0-2 start. But im ok with this fact because I know Bruce will be waiting on the sideline, ready to come in and pump some shit up!
In Bruce We Trust
No way, if cable was able to bench him in favor of two other guys! He is NOT going to start the season
Cable wanted to start Bruce all along and like i said i think Al would have but he had given his word to JR and the world that JR would start so he basically HAD to stay by his word for awhile…

tramp is right
cable made the call and after bruce went down, russell stayed down as the #2. if russell would have started after bruce got hurt i might think he would be our #1 week one but i think its a whole different approach this year, unless grads gets scooped up and al makes a late decision on 86ing cable. what al is doing as of now in the off season after all what was speculated, this is shit we havent seen in a long ass time. he is tired of tired players and losing seasons and is doing SANE things right now. but dont hold your breath…

Cable said that there is going to be open competition for the qb job
That means if Grad does better in the preseason and training camp, the job is his. So Russell won’t give us a lousy start because he won’t play if he doesn’t deserve the job. Simple as that.
that's right, but you forget
Al’s input.

preseason Grad will win the starting job.
i think Cable might have more power then we think. Although theres still a little part of me that still thinks Russell is the QB of the future. The first preseason game last year i remember Russell and Schillens got on a role then Schillens was out till like week 5 and Russell is really good at getting Miller the ball. He also is unlucky remember the Bullshit Murphy call in the opener??

Bruce in the house!!!
Make D-Mac a wide out. Pick up another RB to compliment Bush for the 2 headed monster we’ve longing for. Bring DHB in as a 4th receiver on 4WR sets to spread the defense out. Open field, no one will catch DHB or D-Mac. Both DHB and D-Mac have a lot to prove in only their 2nd & 3rd yr with all the pressure they’ve had to endure because of a bad QB. Along with studs Murphy and Schillens and a pro bowl bound TE Miller and you have a potential explosive offense. With a new OC, should bring life to the play calling. Oh lets not forget somebody to get the ball to these guys. If Bruce is not the starting QB, go get Troy Smith for Gods sake for a 5th round pick. Whats it gonna hurt, JR’s feelings? We have 2 picks in that round. If we don’t use any picks to pick up free agents or to trade up or down, please use ALL the picks on the O-line and D-Line. unless the no brainer (not no brains) is available.
No, I love Toby
But we have 2 HB’s already. Darren should excell under Hue and we all know the potential Bush has with the right amount of carries
In Bruce We Trust
That's true
Toby just has the look of a winner. A hard worker & solid leader, you know, the type we need. Whoever gets him will be rewarded. Jahvid Best would probably be a better fit for us because of his kickoff/ punt return ability, but he won’t be available in the 3rd round like Toby might be.
Yeah, Those are two good backs with promising futures
But we have Darren and Bush. If Darren shows he incapable of suceeding under Hue, Then Ill stop making excuses for him and consider him yet another Oakland bust
In Bruce We Trust
I wish we still had Rankin...
…maybe we can get him back from seattle?
Anyways, I’m more in favor of bringing in a UDFA for the 3rd RB spot and putting more attention in the draft or FA in finding a good run-blocking FB.
Cable Bumaye! Raiders Bumaye!
Manase Tonga out of BYU
will be their in the 5th or 6th round. He is 5’11" 245lbs good run blocker with soft hands out of the backfield. he looked good at the combine.
Good name too
I wanted the FB with the mohawk and hair lip from last year. I think hes in Seattle now, BUt I liked his attitude
In Bruce We Trust
I'm looking at John Conner
5"11 246 and a GREAT blocker that can catch
Tonga didn’t look too bad, but I get concerned with those FB/RB hybrids. Conner is a true FB.

until now (I live in Scotland, so it’s hard to keep up with the Collage game). Checked out his highlight tape on YouTube and it looks pretty solid. Could be a good pick if we’ve taken care of both lines and other needs.
Too cool! I was just commenting on another post about how we're internationally strong!
You’ve come to the right place for college breakdowns! We’re a bunch of offseason fiends here, and hold out hope that this year’s crop could fix all that’s wrong with the team (well, not all of it, but you know what I mean!).

I think "offseason fiend"
should go to Rated-R.
DMC is the swing pass guy and can do that from the backfield w/o having to hustle an RB this draft - better RBs are coming
up for 2011. Besides Chaz and Louis we’ve got a good one in Johny Lee Higgins and the break-out of DHB this year (if ever). So, while I agree with you that DMC could switch to WR (he excels in space) I’d prefer to let Jackson use him from the backfield and keep the high draft pick for the lines.

I see that same work ethic in Bruce the Gannon showed when he played for us, and see how that worked out for us? I love it, Bruce can make up what he lacks in raw talent by working out and continually drilling through repetition.

Repetiton
In many of the throws JaMarkAss missed last year it looked like he was not getting enough repetitions. That is up to a QB to get in the throws to get the muscle memory to throw a seven yard passes.

i remember hearing the "snake"
would turn on the headlights to his car and he and freddy would work on things way after practice in the dark at the santa rosa field. then the others would see this and it got contagious, george and jack would cover fred and cliff to help eachother get better. thats dedication. gannon would sleep in the beds upstairs in the alameda facitlity from staying late and getting up early. these guys were winners and bruce is in that same mold of character, hes a winner to me and i believe everything he is saying.

DHB and Murph were both taking extra
practice at the games I saw. I’m glad DHB is putting in the time to become a good WR. He’s a great athlete, but he realizes like the great ones, you’re not a born a great player, you make yourself into one. I hope this mentality trickles down to our other young players, most notably DMc, Bush, and JaPukeus.
The work being done now and in the next two months in Alameda will decide what kind of team we have. If we build the team around the guys with a team first mentality we may claw our way back to respectability. The AFC is wide open this year…SD cut their identity in LT. McDaniels is in over his head as a HC. Haley got some good coordinators, but the Queefs are weak in the trenches…
rice would kill him self running in the east bay hills during the offseason to get better
mike irvin would run ghost routes by himself in the heat untill he would go to a knee and vomit and then run 15 more routes, and this was after they proved themselves, they never belived that they couldnt get better and their careers proved their hard work. just when you think your working hard someone’s always working a little harder. we have a blessed group of young commited and very humbled acting recievers who are gonna keep turning heads as they did at last years end. keep busting you ass DHB

Two of the hardest working sombitches to play the position, or football for that matter
Irv and Rice def know what mental toughness means, and I’d ask Jerry his advice on any new player prospect, or Mike Irvin for that matter, not that he’d give it up to Al! Jerry has given DHB the nod, on more than one occasion.
How easily folks forget that we were nearly without a passer in most of DHB’s starts, and the sorry excuse for one we fielded never hesitated to point the finger at young Darrius when a miscue occurred. Whether it was DHB’s fault or not, I’ll never back a qb that does this, anytime, or anywhere, however deserved, unless it’s right then and there on the field when it happens, and is done so in a way that the receiver knows that his qb is coming right back at him, and where he’d better be when that happens. Jamarcus waited until the press conferences, in his furs and all his glory. Deplorable, and the antithesis of a leader.

After the benching - which JR had never experienced before in his life - he struggled to understand how this could
have happened to him, King Alexis (the Chosen One and Walnut King). His conclusion did not include himself as the cause but rather his line and receivers who had undermined his best efforts and made him look bad.

While that's all great
let’s just hope John Herrera doesn’t hear Grad’s been talking to Gannon & go running like a biotch to Al. If that’s the case there’s no competition because Al will feel betrayed that Gradkowski is asking for advice from a 3-time former pro-bowler & season MVP instead of asking him what it takes to win in the league.

He was feeling it! and having a Bobby Seale moment:
I’m so sick of guys making the player’s race a central theme in anything football. It really has no place, especially here at sabp. All we care about is the talent to “just win, baby!”
I’m not sure I understand his angle, however; is he trying to imply that giving Gradkowski the starting nod will somehow be a racist decision over starting Jamarcus, and has nothing to do with how his sorry excuse for play, and presence in the locker room, will never fit the NFL’s standard of winning games? How about hard work?
I wish Jamarcus had a shred of the heart McNair had; it’s just not there, nor do I ever think it will be. No question about Bruce.

Good for Grad, he wants it and as a life long Raider fan I appreciate that.
DHB working out, good for him, he will come along…On Terrell Owens, SIGN HIM AL, TO is a Mercenary, you pay him and he goes out and gets the job done He practices hard and has great work ethic, he could teach our young receivers allot and he would force double teams and open up our fast young receivers…Are you kidding me, don’t sign him!!! Please!!! And I will say this again, we should have signed Mike Vick when we had the chance, a Pro Bowl Play Off QB. If you can get TO at the right price, it is a game changer on Offense, and no matter the QB, well as long as its not J-Russ, we have a chance in every game to straight win…TO brings a swagger that the Raiders can really use…Sign him Al, Sign him…

I still say no.
he did shitake on the bills. All the bills fans were pumped on TO. Saying he’s going to be awesome and their offense is going to be great. He didn’t do anything on the team. And I don’t think his leadership didn’t do anything on the bills either.
speaking on leadership, why would you want leadership on a guy like TO? sure he can teach them(if he’s kept for more than 2 years) how to get a double team, but do you really want a guy who cares about nothing instead of money, giving up on plays because he doesn’t get the ball, and has a bad mouth to teach our own guys???
And do you really want a guy who says he’ll only play if he gets paid top money???
TO is selfish, and he look to have next to nothing in the tank when he was on the bills. If you use their QB as an excuse, you are not only throwing our own QBs out there, but Edwards was pretty accurate last year, and TO had hands of stone last year.
