Wimbley as a Pass Rush Specialist
i think it is well documented that last year our defense could not get off the field on third down i dont care what the stats say about total yardage and running yards against...if u can get off the field ever than all those stats get bloated...in the Dallas game do u remember the third and longs converted routinely by Tony Romo...and the reason was not enough of a rush. If we are gonna play man to man defense that rarely blitzes then we need PRS on both sides who play limited snaps and can get after the QB

Your projection is correct as a snap-shot of things as they look from this moment
Going forward, we need to stop the rush. I’m pretty sure that the NYJ, Baltimore, Washington, and Cleveland all racked up more 1st downs off the rush (from a 3rd-down situation) than they did from throwing it. So, while it’s helpful to bring in someone whose specialty is pass-rushing – going forward we need a brutal run stopper in the form of a MLB and DT/NT.Simple as that – do or die.
True I think if by some miracle if we can get McCoy or SUH we should take them. I would rather take an offensive lineman than a linebacker because a linebacker is only as good front 4. second round take Cody he is only a 2 down lineman but you we can put seymour inside on 3rd down. Along with that we need a new linebacker coach
We'd have to trade up
And give up either DMC or Bush, our pick and probably Huff. But for Suh, it’s worth it

We all hate Cohan as an owner of this franchise…
Also
I wouldn’t be surprised if Wimbley gets the DE spot and Scott get OLB or vice versa. Both can play either. But again now is the perfect time to play the 3-4.
DE – Shaunghessy, Dez
NT – 2nd round pick, Kelly
DE – Seymour, Kelly
OLB – Scott
ILB – Kirk
ILB – Howard
OLB – Scott

The 2nd OLB is supposed to be Wimbley

According to several Browns - two weighing-in yesterday and others on their site - Wimbley isn't so hot in pass coverage
he did well as a DE and OLB rushing QBs but seems only so-so (based on hearsay) in coverage and dropping more powerful RBs.

move to the 2nd pick from detroit
i would love to see the raiders get the 2nd round pick that the lions are trying to get out of! what would be the cost and could we keep our 8th spot? i know the lions are looking for help at cb maybe rhoutt?

Far too ideal a scenario to work out for us!
Though some teams might be looking at Routt for a 3rd or 4th corner, I doubt any will be willing to deal their 1st and thirds without some serious incentive otherwise.

Gonna hold out we'll get a solid Mike backer and DT in the draft, too, and wait and see
I’ll be very excited if we address those glaring needs. Tired of making excuses for guys due to making up for other players. We need immediate impact guys at these two positions.

I wouldnt mind, Id like to keep Kirk by all means, but if he cant produce, were gonna have to let him go
Although, I think hed play alot better with a better DL. I done trying to predict what Al is gonna do. Theres so many possibilities on what can happen. All I can say is, April 22-24 is gonna be scary as hell
In Bruce We Trust
LOL! Scary is a good word, here. I'm getting nervous myself. Thursday could be a heartbreaker, and fuck the whole thing up again
But if we do well on Friday and Saturday, I’ll get over it. At this point I want to keep Kirk too, and maybe move him to Sam or Will, but the third we could get for him getting picked up may be more valuable to us at this point. I’ll miss his tremendous presence regardless, but I won’t miss his missing assignments, and reacting to fakes. It’s a crime; how’s your Mike backer supposed to lead the defense if he’s constantly caught biting on the misdirection? He played much better the rare times hes had an acting NT, but much of that time had inconsistent play at that position too. ‘07 was arguably Morrison and Howard’s best years, getting some ints in coverage, and actually being able to see into the backfield from a better front four presence.

Given the best OTs leave the board during the 1st round, and the best DTs leave the board during the 1st & 2nd rounds
that leaves us up the creek for any but a sleeper MLB.

NT is by far the most imortant.
I’ve shifted from OT being the most important to a true NT. I feel most of our energy MUST be put into bringing in a NT somehow, NOT a DT.
As for a sleeper MLB we could probably pick up Angerer in the 4th or late 3rd (assuming Morrison gets traded.
Also I’d like to pick up John Conner FB in the 6th or 7th. This guy is a beast of a lead blocker.
Cable Bumaye! Raiders Bumaye!
I'm with you I think, at this point. Even if it's a bit of a reach, take Dan Williams in the first.
Or position yourself for Cam Thomas in the second, or Linval in the later second or early third. Lock in the NT, tho, and watch this front seven look like a front seven to be reckoned with.

word from espn
is that Wimbley would likely play LB
He played linebacker in Cleveland’s 3-4 scheme. He said the early talk is that he will play linebacker in Oakland’s 4-3 defense. Wimbley played in a 4-3 scheme at Florida State.

The former relationship with coach Haluchak will help, too
and no doubt had something to do with his coming here. Maybe the old guy is actually accepting input from the coaches he installed, for a change?

not Routt
screw him… he sucks… i prefer Mitchell
send rhoutt, the 2nd pick and the 3rd for detriots #1
what do you say to that idea
by sports with steve on Mar 16, 2010 12:23 PM PDT up reply actions
Hell yes. then use the remaining 1st for Iupati and pick up Angerer by traiding our 4th and Carlisle for a 3rd
If St. L or Detroit want more – throw in Sam Williams and Jerome Boyd

Yeah but
When the hell are they going to work on the run defense? Ever? It’s been lousy for years, and nothing done about it. Does Al simply not understand the need to stop the run? Is that what trading for a pass rusher instead of potentially drafting a run stopper means?
