DT Suh at 8?!!

Today i was on NFL.com searching some news and stuff and I saw there was a new mock draft by Bucky Brooks (Link). Of course I first check to see who they predict the Raiders to take and to my surprise Suh was still availiable.? what.? yeeeeaaaah right... but then you look at the teams coming before it. Lions, Bucs, Redskins, Chiefs, Seahawks,  and Browns. The only team that could really really use a DT are the Bucs and the Lions BUT they also need an OT.

I mean lets look at the Lions, there defense stank last year and could really use a playmaker on the line but then again the Lions just drafted a QB with the #1 overall pick last year and he was injured for a chunk of the season due to a shoulder injury. As everyone knows this is a QB driven league and they just drafted a QB hoping he will lead the franchise. wouldn't you want to protect your QB by drafting a OT.? they wouldnt want there most valuable player to be further injured.

The Bucs will most likely draft a DT and the rest after that all have good DT's so there isnt really a need to draft one. But they could all use an OT. So Raider fans just imagine... drafting Suh or possibly McCoy. Screw drafting an OT in the first, if they will be available DRAFT THEM.! How does that sound.? a dream come true or what.?

The Bucs will draft McCoy or Suh no doubt but what if the Detroit Lions feel a bigger need at OT the at DT.? The next team that needs a DT will be us.!

Suh will not get pst the 4th pick at all.

reason why I say this is because the Lions can get an OL elswhere in the draft(2nd round), and the can get what appears to be a quality DT from Suh.

The Bucs also need defensive people, as they were horrible last year in run defense, which a projected great DT can fix very well. Offensive players are also in the 2nd that can help the bucs.

IF Suh or McCoy falls to us, then I guess draft them. Then we SHOULD get Linval Joseph anyways to not only compete and give us depth, but to also provide as a backup(or starter) in case anyone gets injured, or we need to have in in certain situations.

this is why most people bypass mocks

If all those teams pass him up, they’re crazy, plain and simple.

Exactly

Mock drafts are fun and give us fans something to contemplate leading up to the draft…but at the end of the day it’s rare anyone’s mock draft looks close to the actual draft…usually the same players in the first round but to different teams.

OMG, if this would happen...I had this juicy dream, imagine..Suh in the first

Joseph in the second or third (to bump Kelly to DE) Scariest lineup in the NFL:
Seymoure(DE),Suh(NT),Joseph(NT),Kelly(DE) lmao teams wont even be able to run against us.

Suh

If he falls to the eighth pick, I’ll never watch sports again as long as I live. I say that because I’m 100 percent confident that the guy will go inside the top three. If the Rams really want to go with a quarterback and the Lions really feel that Gerald McCoy is better, I just don’t see any feasible scenario in which Buccaneers don’t gobble him up.

Wait...thats a big gamble..will u not post anymore if this happens? Nooooo!!!! ;)

But seriouslly if u really look at it these above us teams in the draft do need OT’s if they want to protect their QB’s Bucs are the deciding force imo, either Mcoy or Suh one will fall to us but I would pass on MCoy.

thank you.! finally someone see's what i see.!

but are you crazy.?! why would you pass on McCoy.?!

by ButtMunch on Mar 17, 2010 5:19 PM PDT up reply actions

you are the coach of the bucs

There is talent at both OL and DT in the second and third rounds, and you are on your first pick. Would you draft the best DT(or one of them), and improve the most porous run defense in the league, as well as one of the bottom five in points against, or would you take the OT, and have him help protect the QB?

by patriotguy on Mar 17, 2010 5:23 PM PDT up reply actions

keep in mind

you can still draft quality OL JUST to protect the QB, and have a bit more help in the running game after the 1st round.

If Suh or McCoy drop to the Raiders, then they should take them and in the second round take a offensive tackle like Charles Brown if he's still around

If Suh or McCoy are gone, then take the best available offensive tackle, and in the second round take the best available defensive tackle.

Well, ButtMunch. Youve raised quite a questions here haha

If you actually think about it, Its almost possible. Detroit brought in Okung today for a visit and the Bucs need a OT as well. Otherwise, like you said, the rest dont need an DT besides us

thank you.

thats what im saying.! It’s funny no one really though about this… everyone seems to be loving Suh and McCoy we never realized why might get the chance to draft one of them. haha

by ButtMunch on Mar 17, 2010 5:48 PM PDT up reply actions

think about this as well

those teams that don’t need one are likely to trade out of it, to a team that does, and get an extra draft pick, and the team that traded up, can get him. That was the case with Sedrick ellis back in 08, where he was available, and the saints traded up to our spot to grab him.

by patriotguy on Mar 17, 2010 5:50 PM PDT up reply actions

Yeah, but they would suddenly be very interested in upgrading

if either dropped to them. I don’t see them dropping far at all, but maybe willing to trade?

'Cept for ol' AL

will do some outlandish thing instead, like draft Tebow at #8—-shocking the whole nation.
He is probably looking at a flippin holder.

There's no way Suh, McCoy or Okung fall to 8.

Seattle has been talking about beefing up both lines & also getting a HB. Suh would not get past them at 6. Also I am pretty sure Cleveland is just hoping for someone to bite on a trade for Shaun Rogers so they would also be stupid to pass up on Suh. The whole Dan Williams thing is making more sense at #8 & I don’t believe it will be a reach at all. Four of the next five picks all run a 3-4 so a nose tackle is very valuable. Buffalo could snatch him at 9 but if they don’t picks 11-13 would most likely take him. I think best case scenario is to trade w/ 10 & postion ourselves to take the best player available from the need picks. Either Dan or Trent Williams or Anthony Davis. With all this said Al is going to keep the 8th pick & draft that WR from Youngstown state because he ran a 4.17.

by TAW on Mar 17, 2010 9:18 PM PDT reply actions

With this kind of speculation,

now is the time to trade down and get more picks.

by xville on Mar 18, 2010 1:45 PM PDT reply actions

the lions want out of that pick!

we should explore 1st what the lions want to get out of the 2nd pick. i would luv to get that pick for a dt suh or mccoy. i also would like to keep our 8th pick. if that happens with a package of a deal to get the 2nd pick, like rhoutt , our 2nd, and say our 4th or 5th. lions need cbs not rookies and then more draft picks that wont cost so much. we could get our dt and ot by the 8th pick! people want more draft picks but if al gave bill a 1st round pick for seymour why not this idea

by sports with steve on Mar 19, 2010 6:55 PM PDT reply actions

it can work. But...

I can safely bet that there will be A LOT of money spent on the two guys we get in the 1st.

I say trade down toward the 12 or 15th pick, get an extra pick, and get dan williams. We get a DT that will cost less money, and looks to be an impact player, AND we get an extra pick!
