Chris Morris and Kirk Morrison received original-round tenders. Stanford Routt, on the other hand, received the highest tender available.

I've also read that Gradkowski

has received the second round tender as well. As usual the Routt one was a huge headscratcher. Way to much for a crappy corner who is a toasted penalty machine.

$3.268 million salary in 2010?! For Routt?? What…was his salary last year?

by Spirals galore on Mar 3, 2010 6:15 PM PST up reply actions

I dont get it either

he is not a 3mil dollar player. i dont think he is a bad player, but def not 3mil/year. Considering he is at best the 3rd best cb on our team, this stumps me…

if anyone else sees something i dont please enlighten me.

Per source: "A lot of heavy zone teams are after his speed"......jk ;)

But yeah maybe Al was tipped that he was saught after by heavy zone teams no? could it be likely…. cuz i dont understand that shit, 1st and 3rd WTF, laughable.

Al...

loves his guys, no matter what.

Fabian Washington and Stanford Routt, what a great draft that was… dammit…

It's like "Here the HELL we go.." ALL OVER AGAIN.

I’m angry as hell at this. Come on son. Fabian is even on the Team no damn more, and Routt gets burned CONSTANTLY.
They say they’re in need of a CB, but this guy is nowvere near a good CB.

Forever, in infamy. But our friend makes an interesting point. Fabian was traded on draft day in'08 to improve our draft position

It amazes me how Routt continues to hang around despite, you know, sucking at football.

lmao!

you know? Is it a prerequisitie to bite, in order to get millions thrown at you?

Routt

is horrible. I can’t believe we wasted a high second rounder on him in the first place, now we are stuck with him for sure. At least we know Al isn’t in the market for a CB during draft day. O line baby!!!!

Personally I hope they go O-Line first and grab a DT in the second. I’m sick of watching Tommy Kelly and Gerard Warren doing their best impressions of 300lbs. human welcome mats.

Or not on the field at all. It’s amazing how getting pancaked repeatedly can wear a dude out.

by Mike Garza on Mar 4, 2010 3:35 PM PST up reply actions

Dude.

Morrison got a THIRD ROUND TENDER.

Routt..got a 1st AND 3rd ROUND TENDER.

WHAT THE HELL IS GOING ON HERE??

by NFLanalyzerfromhome on Mar 3, 2010 9:45 PM PST reply actions

Theory

Al may want someone to bite on Morrison and then he can get compensation for him. No one would bite if a first-round pick was the price. That’s my best guess at sorting that out.

I understand that...wait..No I don't.

But Routt? Note: Unless Al did this, so that if he Drafts a CB in the LATER rounds, so that he’ll have a stable of CBs, because Holland Ain’t crap, I kinda understand…but..it’s too much damn money…for a player NOT WORTH IT.

And if Al doesn’t Match the offer, and he DOESN’T Draft McClain..or another imm – o_o

AL BETTER GO AFTER KARLOS DANSBY.

Question

Considering that Routt would be now be owed the 3 mil plus next year. Would anyone be surprised if the Raiders cut him in training camp? I dont think I would…..

Routt

I come to this site often but never post…until now. I can’t hold back my displeasure over this move.

This is one of the most ridiculous moves I’ve seen in a while. I was really hoping we would let Routt walk but I knew they’d at least put a small tender on him. Never thought in a million years they’d give him the highest tender out there. He’s a terrible DB…no way around it. He’s the biggest liability on the field when he is out there and constantly gets burned and if he isn’t getting burned…he’s committing a penalty. He has zero cover skills and is a moderate tackler. I’m so sick of the Raiders drooling over guys that can run fast. It’s irrelevant if you can’t cover whatsoever.

It worries me that they’ve done this as it may point to them trading Asomugha.

by Buster Bluth on Mar 4, 2010 5:44 AM PST reply actions

yes--I also heard about Al possibly

making this move with the thought of trading Asomugha. I don’t get it though.

by Spirals galore on Mar 4, 2010 6:03 AM PST up reply actions

Maybe

Routt has pictures of the front office personnel with animals in compromissing positions or something because there is no other explanation for this ridiculous tender.

Why would he tender their top 2 linebackers so low?

Does Al have his eye on some linebackers in the draft that he thinks are better?

by duballers23 on Mar 4, 2010 9:40 AM PST reply actions

Just a thought

Maybe Al is thinking uncapped year, open the purse strings and let inmates run wild with the cash thrown at them in what will be another futile attempt to buying a SB or last gasp surge at a winning era.

If you are going to open the purse strings on an uncapped year...

then please open them up for players far better than Routt! The only time Routt looked like he should be on an NFL team was in the rare occasion they were in a zone d. Did Al forget he hates the zone?

Gradkowski

According to my local newspaper, he was placed with a second-round pick tender and will earn just less than $2 million this upcoming season.
