Two big questions before draft day.
1.Who is our starting LBs, DEs, and DTs.
Seymour is the only for sure starter on the DL. I hope scott comes back and plays end but if he doesn't who will? Lets say he does then who plays OLB? Howard? Morrison?Brown?Alston? I really think we should keep Morrison and Howard to play OLB and draft a guy in the the first three rounds to play middle. Then Scott, Seymour, Kelly, and someone in the draft plays D-tackle. Agree or disagree? Your opinion counts.
2. Is Russell and Grad gonna be the only QBs "Competing".
Or could there be another? Could we pick up someone in FA or draft someone? There's rumors about Baltimores Smith on the trading block. Could he be an option? I know theres a bunch of people who hate this idea but what about vick? The Eagles are asking for a second but i'm pretty positive they would settle for a 4th and 5th or a 4th and a player. I know alot of you are set on Grad and alot of u wanna give Russell another chance but i'm not sure if we can handle another losing season. Please Comment i really want to know your opinion.
Thanks, Raiderfan21

I don’t think we’ll really know even days before the draft, but we may have our own opinions on that.

We don’t even know if Gradkowski will be competing even though I think we should hand him the starting job right now. I don’t think we’ll acquire another quarterback before the draft.
[…] and alot of u wanna give Russell another chance […]
Please, stand up and let yourself be known so we can throw tomatoes at you.

LOL
Well there is only one guy for sure that eats the JaBustaPick bullshit and we all know his name although I shall not speak of the Golum’s true name. If he were drowning I would throw cinder blocks to him.

Well...
The front seven will be the same, unfortunately. Kelly, Warren and Ellis are all on the hook for too much cash to cut, and the “exclusive” franchise tag guarantees Seymore will be there too. Davis will match any offer for Morrison and Howard, those are his guys, they are not going anywhere.
I think Frye will work out another deal and be back as well. He played well when he had to, and will probably take league minimum (which helps considering we are broke as hell).

I don't even know anymore.
With the latest tenders, it feels like this year is gonna be worse.

We can look at it this way...
If all of the D is going to be back, then we must be drafting offense. Since we only scored 14 td’s all of last year, this is a good thing! MAybe…
I’m trying to be positive…
"We can't stop here... This is bat country."
I'm too numb (dumbfounded) to even comment on that slogan - it does seem appropriate with Routt, Seymour and
other revelations occurring recently that it would be included in this bad dream.

because of the uncapped year
Now would be the time to cut those players that suck even Russell wouldn’t that save so much money?
yes it would

Not with JaFlabso
We still owe him around $10 mill guaranteed out of his 13 guaranteed. I think we can cut Kelly and others to save a huge chunk because their contracts are past the guaranteed contract point (I think) but not sure.

I think what he is getting at is that we could cut these players
and it not affect our salary cap because there isnt one

Ok
but he says wouldnt that save so much money and regarding Russell not really because as I said we still have to pay him $10 mill no matter salary cap or not so no savings.

I'd say that was ten million well spent

Stanford Routt for $3 milliion plus...
He Can’t cover his shadow. Senility is a horrible thing Al. Please tell me we will hire a GM soon
I really think
That Cable is gonna find a reason to sit JaWalrus down. I don’t think there is any love there. Gradkowski and Frye will compete for the starting job—-Bruce will come out on top, he is a winner.
The O-line isn’t that bad at all, consider how slow and clumsy JR is, and it comes clear how much work they really had to do.
Routt is gonna be gone in a trade for picks, the draft isn’t very deep at the position, and the league is hurting everywhere for that position—-somebody will want him(at least as a nickel).
spec, nobody will take Routt under those terms (1st and 3rd round picks)
by Sons-of-Blanda on Mar 4, 2010 2:53 PM PST up reply actions
+1
those are some steep terms to pay for Routt. Unless we can find a maniac GM that is smoking glue that day we are stuck with him now.

Some teams with multiple first rounders and not finding their biggest players of need available there
could be looking to let a first rounder go plus the third.
K. I would love you if your were right about this, but I don’t see it either, really. I love to entertain the possibility tho.

Hey
Anything is possible we can all remember so not so balanced trades in the past in the NFL and we can hope Matt Millen (as much as dearly love him as a player) is whispering in the opposing GMs ear about “having to pick up Routt and a 1st and 3rd is no big deal”

LOL! Detroit is finally recovering from Matt, now a few years removed
and will show some signs of life as a result. I, too, hope he can offer someone some horrible advice that he can somehow sugar coat to make it go down!
He was an amazing player! How did it go south as a personnel guy?

God,
I love draft season almost as much as regular season. Aint it great? I think Cable is going to make a run for Wilson, I can feel it. Remember Cable’s ties with Idaho….
don't forget J.P. Losman.
He is in the QB competition isn’t he?
Besides, OL and a MLB would be nice in this year’s draft.
If the start of the off-season is any indication...
I’m already exhausted with the way things are going. To answer Question 1. LBs, DEs, and DTs. According to Adam Schefter, Warren is going to be cut which I hope. Also Morrison is probably going to be traded for a 3rd RD pick. If we’re lucky. the starting LBs would be ROLB-Howard, ILB-Rolando McClain (8th pick), ILB\LOLB hybrid-Brown, LOLB\DE hybrid-T. Scott. The D-line would look something like DE-Seymour, DT\NT-Kelly (ugh), DE-D. Bryant or M. Shaunessey. To answer question #2. Yes. It comes down to Russell & B. Grad but hopefully Al proves he’s as much a cheapskate as he is senile & cuts Russell when he refuses to restructure his contract. We can dream right?
hey check out SB NATION's first mock draft
Mocking The Draft says: This may be an unconventional pick, but Kirk Morrison misses far too many tackles to remain at inside linebacker. The Raiders may have more pressing needs – defensive line, offensive tackle, cornerback – but there isn’t a better player than McClain here.
McClain
He’s a sensible pick, yes.

We haven’t had a real defense since the Jack Tatum days. Guys think about we are the must counter productive team in the NFL. We pay Kickers top dollars instead of upgrading our offense. We pay Nnamdi top dollar but don’t put him in position to make plays on the field cause we play to 4 man rush which isn’t a problem is you have the players to do it but we don’t. Kirk Morrison is rated a top 4 defender but we put a 3rd round tender on him but Routt we go all out for him. Kelly might be more productive but we won’t bring in a NT to help him. Scott is clearly our best Pass rusher but we don’t put him in position on 3rd down why?? We have a secondary that can run with anyone but we don’t blitz to put them in position to make turn overs. Howard and Morrison have the ability to shine if you bring in the right linebacker coach or allow the defensive coordinator to run the defense. the Offense is so jacked up its funny. Bush is clearly the best back but we want him to play fullback. Right now we are clearly a run first team but for some reason we came out this year a 50/50 run pass team. We don’t have the oline that can block then we put a young qb that clearly needed a real offensive coordinator out to the Lions. I can’t really say Russell is a bust but if he play anything like last season its going to be hard to say he isn’t. But I also think picking from Bruce and Russell isn’t a real QB competition You to bring in at least one qb that has had a season or two success. I think right now we are at the bottom in the NFL at QB we are talking who is the best between Bruce and russell thats like picking a slow death or a fast one.
Some legitimate criticism but you really need to go back and watch film on Grad because you're wrong about him

I still sense in him, and adversity to giving the dude the shot.
He knows who will win among the three guys we currently have.
I ask you, M.Y., who is this masked qb of whom you speak, that we should add?
