NEW TO SILVER AND BLACK

After my team, the Houston Oilers, was basically stolen from me in the Nineties; I've shunned the NFL for over a decade. My 2 young sons ,over the last 4 years, have more than rekindled my passion for the sport (one a diehard 49ers fan the other fancies the Steelers). We watched games, talked games/players etc., and they decided it was time for me to finally pick a NEW team; I agreed.  A couple of  weeks went by before I decided to announce my choice(they'd both been lobbying for 1 of their teams ). Seeing my RAIDERS shirt damn near sickened them, I almost felt they had disowned me!!!     Anyway, they've come to grips.

Sorry about the boring intro, but the background is necessary . I've been watching this team for for a while(didn't like 'em in the old days, but always had respect),and I have to say they're good! There's talent here. Reminds me of 80's Oilers when MOON came down from Canada. The difference is, there's no MOON!

I have defended him in posts past but JM has to go......

Grad should be granted #1 stat until he proves wrong.

Vick should be a nonissue- don't want him

O line seemed to look good when Grad was QB.

Don't draft FAST GUYS for any position.

god help you

you chose the raiders? why? i dont have a choice, im loyal like a puppy. i chose them years ago when i was a kid. you chose this debacle of a franchise today? again, why?

btw. i agree they do have talent. Unfortuneatley they also have Al Davis. The retarded, senile, tyrant, egomaniac, loser has no idea how to utilize it however.

The Oilers had great teams, Earl Campbell and Bum Phillips, Pasterini, Blanda came from Houston too

It’s amazing that you have chosen Oakland at such a low period in our cycle. It was very easy for many of us who were spoiled with double-digit seasons that came with automatic regularity – Hell, Al fired a HC – Shell – for going 9-7. Now, with choices being made (Rhoutt 3+Million, Seymour 12.4, Cable) I feel like one being driven slowly insane. But, think you made the right choice – Hahahahaa heheheheee.

I'm used to a championship level team CHOKING with regularity!!!!!!!!!

But seriously, can you compare any RB from the last 30 yrs to CAMPBELL???
I can’t.

Dont listen to them

It may suck now but imagine how sweet it will be when were back, dont listen to these guys ^

We all love the Warriors..
We all hate Cohan as an owner of this franchise…

"You have chosen the right path Luke." but welcome dude, you have chosen a Great team (although sucking recently) but we will be back.

Breakout season comin up in 2010, the Offense will be unrecongnizable, our O will be like a poor man’s saints Offense. ( ONLY if we draft oline and start Grads). :)

Welcome, bro! You are one puzzling Mofackey, to join us at this juncture, but I'm cool with it!

The disease the rest of us share, is one we cannot shake, and will die a loyal bunch. I will say, we are the best fans, of any team, or sport anywhere, and you’ll be in more company worldwide of fellow fans than any other franchise (nice consolation, huh!).

The latest move with the tender on Routt, is, disheartening. I hope somehow he ends up like Nnamdi and suddenly becoming one of the best in the league at his position, but I’m not stupid. I do see him having a tough time opposite Nnamdi, with the lack of pressure and all kindza time qb’s passing against us have for the guy opposite Nnamdi to eventually come open, and by then, it’s likely to the house, too…

I still feel we’re very poised to rebound with this draft, but the looseness with the checkbook concerns me greatly.

We all here share the one common value that no matter how harshly we view the organizations’ puzzling moves in the way we are, we all wish to see Al (with the help of others, of course) hoist the Lombardi, proudly, once again. We just don’t get surprised anymore when things go entirely differently than we’d hoped, or just beyond the understanding of fans, media, both supportive and hating alike.

you're up late, RE. School nite, no?

Worked a late one myself. You believe that shit with Routt? Im hoping for some miracle curve ball to come from Al we haven’t yet seen what it is due to his vulcan mind tricks. Bastard.

Def perturbed by that shit. Wanted him cut for sure, and probably even CJ, but CJ could be better with the right additions in the front seven, and another man corner.

Haha

Take it out on inanimate objects, but be careful with Walls

They tend to not give too much, especially if you hit a stud! Lot’s of little bones in your wrist called carpals. With all the ones in your arms and hands it’s into the several dozen, so it ends up not being a very smart thing to do!

But I feel you; this team makes you want to punch things!

I try to avoid the concrete walls

And the brick walls. I aim for ones that make me look tough by putting my arm all the way through it hahaha This is the only team that I actually get upset over! Its soo hard watching them trip up time after time

O line seemed to look good when Grad was QB.

That’s what Grad was thinking when he was in the hospital.

also why our WRs need supersonic speed for the 30 yd “deep ones”.

Dude

We seem to welcome you to our maniac society. Our puzzling signings and moves by the the Darth Vader (or maybe he’s the “Emperor”)of the NFL and yet we still post……..We rant, rave attack and to some extent abuse each others opinions BUT we still find the common thread of our brotherly and sisterly love (Spirals Galore no I didnt forget the females) of OUR Raiders. It is the only team I can honestly say I have stuck with through my initial love afffair when crushed Philidelphia in the SB.
One warning dont ever show your disloyalty on the site or you would surely be torn to shreads verbally without hesitation.

Should I even mention

that when I got interested in football and chose this to be my team, it was in the middle of the 2-14 06 season?

Welcome to hell...jk

I sometimes feel like an abused girlfriend loving my team & defending them to the bitter end & can’t seem to quit them. Of course I had the fortune of becoming a die-hard during semi-good times in the early 90’s & was heart-broken to see us lose 51-3 to the horrible Bills in the AFC Championship. Either way welcome. I agree B. Grad deserves to be the starter & with a few moves on the O-line he will be given an oppurtunity. Its a quick fix if they focus just on that. Kevin Mawae is available at center & we can find a starting right or left tackle with the 8th pick. Even with Old Al running the show, hope springs eternal.

I watched that BUF vs OAK game, lotta snow

Buffalo should not have been in 3 of those 4 SB’s. Oilers were the superior AFC team and would have at least put up a respectable fight=== count to 10, past is past. Get on with life.
Raiders look pretty good if MGMT doesn’t shit the bed …..

Why are people saying the team turned around when bruce came in. Its simple Bruce moved the ball more than Russell so the defense was more rested. Look at both games the we didn’t move that ball good until the end of the game. I thought to be considered a good QB you had to move the ball all game long then maybe we wouldn’t have to depend on late game drives. Come on man we have one of the worst oline I have seen hold, false starts, and others have been a Raiders headline for years.

Good Only

when compared to Ja Carcass. Something is better than nothing! The “bar” is set very low

by rambis64 on Mar 4, 2010 6:53 PM PST up reply actions

i agree Grads is nothing special....

Grads is not our savior. He is not taking us to the playoffs. He just tries, cares, and is competent. None of which Ja-worthless does.
The Raiders have sunk so low that a journeyman that had a couple decent games has become the second coming of the 2002 Rich Gannon.
I support the guy 100% and hope to god he is named the starter asap, but lets call it like it is. He got cut by Tampa Bay and Celv. The same 2 teams that have had a qb carousel the last few years. Lets not expect many wins outta him.

by rat, el rat, mr. rat, the rat on Mar 4, 2010 9:50 PM PST up reply actions

Well...

Gannon was a back up in Minnesota and Kansas City before he came here, and never did anything special. I’m not saying lets crown Grad, but he is better than any other option we have. Let him run with it for a season, it can’t get much worse!

Welcome

But the O Lines shortcomings caused Grads injuries without Gallery they were poor. We need a new left tackle, right guard and to move Henderson to RT.
With any luck Al (the blind squirrel) might find a nut or two, this is a deep draft.

by rambis64 on Mar 4, 2010 6:50 PM PST reply actions

Yea, welcome

but the O line is anemic in ever freaking way. The only keeper is Gallery, I’m not solt on Henderson. OUr O line was so bad, we went through all 3 qb’s and had to sign Losman from the UFL!
