With McNabb on his way to Oakland, let us recall the contributions of JaMarcus
9/14 vs. StD. - Russell is 12-of-30 for 208 yds 1 TD and 2 interceptions.
9/21 vs. K.C. - Russell was 3-of-14 for 30 yards after 31 minutes of play. JaMarcus finished the game 6-of-17 for 55 yards with a yards per pass average of 3.2.
9/28 vs. Denver - Russell 12-of-21 and throws 2 interceptions to assist our humiliation in 23 to 3 defeat.
10/5 vs. Houston - Russell was 12-of-33 for 128 yards in 29-6 defeat.
10/12 vs. NYG - Russell fumbles 3 times leading directly to 13 points and has 100 yds going 8 of 13; he converts 1 of 11 third downs in 44 to 7 route.
10/19 vs. Philadelphia - Russell went 17-of-28 for 224 yards, one TD and throws 2 interceptions in game Oakland wins by blitzing McNabb - sacking him 6 times. Raiders 13, Eagles 9.
10/26 vs. NYJ - Russell benched near halftime after adding 2 interceptions and a fumble in the red-zone to his resume. 38-0, worst home game since ever.
11/2 vs. StD - Russell throws 1 interception in 24 - 16 loss managing 109 yards through the air.
11/16 vs. KC - Russell is 9-of-24 for 67 yards
11/23 vs. Cincinnati - Russell does not play (benched). Final Score: Raiders 20, Bengals 17.
11/30 vs. Dallas - Russell remains benched; Raiders nonetheless lose 24-7.
12/6 vs. Pittsburgh - Russell remains benched. Raiders 27, Steelers 24.
12/13 vs. Washington - Russell comes off bench, is 10 of 16 for 74 yards is sacked numerous times and throws interception. Foreskins 34, Raiders 13
12/20 vs. Denver - Russell came off the bench, fumbled, then went 5 of 11 for 47 yards but managed one successful drive for the go ahead score: Raiders 20, Donkeys 19.
12/27 vs. Cleveland - Russell benched (but Cable isn't). Recovering with a concussion, Frye throws 333 yards, 26-of-45 and 3 interceptions. We lose 23-9
1/4 vs. Baltimore - Russell comes off bench in 3rd Quarter and converts a 3rd and 15 ... then he promptly is sacked twice, throws an interception and fumbled away our last chance of winning. Final score: Raiders 13, Ravens 21.

Don't jinx my goodbye to Russell moment

Unless you’ve heard something I haven’t about the deal being done.

its not done. do we really need mcnabb?
if we trade for mcnabb then russell goes to the eagles. we cant have 2 high priced qbs on the team. do we really need mcnabb or do we fill our needs with a dt,ot,mlb, cb, rb!

No, we simply cut Russell and save ourselves $10 million (I believe he's guaranteed 3 million regardless)
by Sons-of-Blanda on Mar 30, 2010 3:44 PM PDT up reply actions
3 million
As long as we cut him before 4-15 I beleive. After that he is guaranteed 10 mil. Cap hit would have been 13, great contract Al!
"We can't stop here... This is bat country."
Actually
We can cut him anytime before opening day and only pay him $3 million. All that $3 million is is garunteed money, and it’s the only garunteed money left on his contract. He has already pocketed $40 million of the original $60 million in his rookie contract.

Huh
Interesting I thought we owed him another $10 mill out of the $13 mill coming this season. Its funny how the numbers get tossed around a lot and no one is totally sure about the implications. Whatever it is I think now is the time to cut the JaTubboLotAGrease and move on. I have a hard time believing that any other team will take a flyer on him and give him anything above league minimum. For that much he definitely wont show up. He will just keep smiling that golden grill and pull his chair up to the buffet bar in Vegas to end up broke and in a diabetic coma.

This whole thing is annoying!
One minute ESPN says that the Raiders are the clear frontrunners, and that other teams aren’t willing to give up what the Eagles want. The next minute they say that there is no frontrunner. Just make a deal, or don’t make a deal. Get it over with.
I think the problem is your source
Those drama queens over at ESPN don’t know wtf they’re talking about.
I’d sit back and relax if Al really wants him and allow the price to go down on what the Eagles want in return.
pretty sure that is the idea
Let the Eagles know that nobody else wants the guy and see what we really need to give up to get him…all the while hoping it is as small as a second round draft choice, or even a third, fourth, or fifth.

But the bad thing is that McNabb is hellbent on going to other teams like the Cards, Vikes, and even the Bills.
He’s being an a hole, he keeps it up F him. McNabb is a biatch if he really doesn’t want to come, he lacks self esteem and confidence by the looks of it..for not wanting to come to turn it around…

Yes, Buffalo is like an hour away from my city-
trailer parks galore with rusty classic cars “up on blocks” in front of shitty trailers for as far as the eye can see.
Bloody wasteland for any semi-accomplished, under-achieving, self respecting professional athlete looking to go out on a high note.
But, geography aside,,,,,,
Buf over Oak?
Doesn’t he realize that the bills, like, totally suck?
I don’t think McNabb knows much about the Raiders. He probably thinks Russell is good and that the team sucks because he even said good things about Russell, and nobody does that except for Al. Instead it’s the other way around. I doubt that he knows they were a .500 team when they had decent qb play. He just hears things from the media. They have a shot to be a playoff team if he comes here. Really if you throw the qb out of the mix for the Raiders and the Eagles, there really isn’t that much of a difference. Their players are good because McNabb is good.
Their o-line and d-line are better than ours, but those are going to probably be addressed by the Raiders and improved. We are one good defensive tackle away from having a very solid d-line, and a tackle and a guard away from having a solid o-line, which can all be addressed in the draft. Receiver wise I think that it is fairly even. Yeah they have Desean Jackson, but McNabb has a lot to do with his success. I could see Louis Murphy putting up close to Desean Jackson numbers with McNabb (maybe not as many 50+ yard plays, but possibly more receptions and similar amount of yards and td’s. Plus he’s way bigger than Jackson). We have Schilens, who is a big receiver which they don’t have. We have a potential big play threat in DHB, if he can catch the ball and have a good qb. Higgins is decent. Plus we got some guys that haven’t much yet that have some potential like Nick Miller who could end up a Kevin Curtis type, Todd Watkins who has good hands, and Paul Hubbard. We also have one of the best tight ends in Zach Miller. Throw in a running game that McNabb has never had with Bush the bruiser, and McFadden, who hasn’t done much, but could potentially be a Reggie Bush/Brian Westbrook type. Our linebackers are pretty much equal with the Eagles, or maybe even better, and our secondary is probably a little better than theirs, if our defense can get rest, which McNabb would provide. McNabb is being too quick to judge the Raiders, and if he took a look at our team he would see that we have some pieces that he could help put together to make into a playoff team.
j mac
isn’t going anywhere it’s the hope that if number 5 comes here that he will teach j mac how to be a good qb but we all know THAT’S NOT GOING TO HAPPEN with his lazy azz he got way to much money to care but al believes in him and cable is not good enough to help this team win bottom line we’re in trouble
plus
i don’t think mcnabb wants to be here would you if you were in the last years of your nfl life would you want to come to a team that’s rebuilding or to teach some jerk off how to be a nfl qb who can’t even watch his weight i mean c’mon he don’t watch tapes he don’t keep intouch with his team mates to become better i hate to say this but we’re looking at about as bad has it gets right now
Jerry McDonald Says
If the Raiders bring in McNabb, then you are going to sse the release of JMR, because there is no way the Raiders are going to pay McNabb $11.5 million and JMR $12.5 million to be on the bench behind him.

JaAllYouCanEat will still be here. If we get McNabb, Bruce G will be the #3 when he should have been the starter. Let’s keep our team young here people.

I was thinking about this the other day. Just when was the exact moment he (Jaminkus) quit on us?
Did he ever try? or was the work just too much for him to handle.?

yes - devious, isn't it
I’ve been following the tweets through the day, and the sequence was very intriguing – just as a tweet came in that the deal is done, the report in Rated-R’s post appeared, followed by the statement from the Eagles that the deal may not close until draft day. Like the Rosenfels diversion, the draft pick swap rumor (oops, we leaked) may be Al’s way to drive a hard bargain.

Someone actually compared Murphy to Desean Jackson??? HAHAHAHA… Murphy is mediocre garbage at best!! Not even close to being the same class as Jackson! Talk about wearing Al Davis colored glasses!! NO "QB" Has Gotten It Done In Our System For 7 Seasons
While the knocks on “JeFat” are true it’s also true that even with his fat ass on the bench we continued our losing ways so how much can we really put on the “FatKid”…What “QB” has produced here sense the “Neck-Break” of Ganon…And before Ganon who the hell was producing…Only in the Bugle yr with that “Indy-Reject” did we put up the stats but Jeff George couldn’t play “D”….
Before him we have to go all the way back to the “Hoss” to find a productive “QB” of record…
I suggest it goes far deeper than the “QB” position and has for a very long time…Our only success has been under the leadership of a seasoned “Field-Martial” at the end of his time who was trained elsewhere on how to carry out his duties on the field…We have failed to develop any of the talent we have had on this team offensively for quite some time….And that includes Bush n “RunDMc”….Zack is such a natural it was almost automatic but his #s have never been what they should be….
When was the last time we developed a “WR”….Timmy???…We have had several players come and go who seemed to have it but never materialised and the following yr were nowhere in the house…
Why is it that some franchises can plug in a rookie late rd “QB” and win with them from day one while others have the top college passers and do a total “Burn-Out” season after season…So here’s hoping that the acquisition of the “BlackBirds” former "QB"s coach can bring a change of atmosphere to OakTown and turn this trend around because I don’t believe for a minute that it’s all on the individual player….Take some of our “Burn-Out”s and put them in a different system while young and maybe there would have been a much better outcome…
PantyRaider….Failed To Develop or Utilize Talent!!!!/_
Have we ever been successful with a young QB?No we haven’t.Everytime we actually have some kind of success it’s with an old QB that everyones pretty much given up on.Fuck it, if McNabb can help us out in any way be it starting or just given stupid ass J-Fat some fuckin pointers and guidance then take him cause goddammit I’m tired of these losing ways and being the damn joke of the league!!!! Win Lose or Tie…RAIDER FOR LIFE TILL I DIE!!!
Here Ya Very Loud -n- Clear
The “Snake” is the only “QB” that we drafted and developed but he had to be bailed out several times buy the old-man…Blanda….Before he was able to take over the team….Mark Wilson was always a heart breaker who lasted because he was married to "AD"s nice….
Lamonica…
Plunket….
Hoss…
Ganon…
Jeff George should have been added to that list but Bugle’s “D” was so inept we were unable to win against anyone….
Agree, Raiders are piss poor at drafting QBs (main reason is the criteria - Big Arm is 1st priority instead of football IQ)

TMZ REPORTS Mcnabb not coming to oakland
Donovan McNabb — Silver and Blacklists Himself
Posted Mar 31st 2010 12:17AM by TMZ Staff
Philadelphia Eagles quarterback (for the moment) Donovan McNabb could be on his way out of town — but TMZ has learned there’s one place he’s refusing to go … Oakland.
There have been multiple reports that the Oakland Raiders are the front-runners to acquire the Pro Bowl QB through a blockbuster trade — but a source close to McNabb tells TMZ, “He does NOT want to play for the Raiders and would refuse the trade.”
McNabb reportedly does not have a no-trade clause in his contract — but according to Philly.com, he can refuse to negotiate a contract extension … and most teams wouldn’t trade away draft picks or players to get Donovan for the one measly year he has remaining on his current contract.
We’re hearing McNabb could still end up in The Bay area … playing for the team across the way … The San Francisco 49ers.

I hope this report in inaccuarte…but can you really blame him? The Raiders have been the laughingstock of the league for awhile now due to horrible personnel decisions….plus in going to the Cards he can throw to Fitz…staying in Philly , he’s got Jackson. Why would he come to Oakland to throw to Murphy? Give me a break. I LOVE Murphy and Chaz but they are not in the same league yet….DHB was a wasted pick…I’m so disgusted that Al did that…..Hope we still have a chance at McNabb tho…

If TMZ posts that someone is dead
I’ll believe them. On sports stuff, not so much.

QB is not our biggest problem
And any deal that requires us to give up Nnamdi would be awful for the team. We have many needs on defense and the OL, and a good QB won’t fix those problems. Positing a trade as the way to force the Raiders to release JaMarcus is just ridiculous. JR should be released regardless of any trades we make—it’s addition through subtraction that will ultimately save the team money for other needs.
I think McNabb is a fine QB and wouldn’t mind him on the team at all. But unless he came with only the price of non-premium draft pick, we should focus on the gaping holes on our roster and stick with the average QB we have on the roster (Bruce).
@worldblee on Twitter.
I hear
I hear that McNabb doesn’t even want to be here in Oakland in the Silver and Black. How does this info formulate into your equation of The J-Russell situation? Even if we don’t sign him I still think we should cut J-Russell. Im sorry but I want nothing to do with a lazy ass qb who has to get benched to even begin to workout and learn how to play the gm the right way. Hell even if he is hitting the track and loosing weight it is still gonna take him another 2-3 yrs to learn the plays. The worst #1 pick since Ryna Leaf and you can even make an arguement that J-Russell is the worst ever!
Ryan Leaf beat the Chargers just by taking snaps under center for them.
Jaturd hasn’t done that once. Also Leaf’s contract was about 5 years for $31 mil. Jafattack’s was 6 years for $68 mil. Also Oakland had the 1st pick but San Diego picked after Indy got Peyton so yes he is the biggest draft bust of all time. No matter what happens with McNabb which I personally am against we need to cut him ASAP!
please enough with Jrussell / big baby let him go take a finanical hit and get the silver N black to the ways of old. and AL DAVIS please stop let the comment start over without you poking in HIRE A GM !!!!!!!! DUDE

I am strongly irritated by Javon Walker’s interview today – a rambling me-me-me-the victim rampage, especially targetting fans. If you do click at the link below, I suggest you don’t read the highlights but listen to the whole interview. The media is spinning it wildly, and not always accurately:

the highlights are cut-and-paste from different portions of the interview
