Foreign fans. The Silver & Black are universal passion!!!
Hi everybody, I´m a mexican Raider fan since 1990 ( but i know in my cells, bones & flesh I´m always has been).. those times when our team were resurging from mid 80´s crisis, an erratic Schoreder in charge & a WR fear group (Brown, Fernandez & Gault) & a terrific Dline (Golic, Smith, Long & Townsend)... after that? the Hoss aboard & jett, Montgomey, Trapp, Peat, Perry, Mcallum, etc...(& THAT UNFORGETABLE 42-21 TO THE DONKEYS & SCUFFLE BETWEEN THE HOSS & LiLO LANG on wild card 1993) after that George, Rison, Maryland, Swilling, Brown, the Wiz ( last both the unique excellent constant on all this times!!)... after Gruden, Rice, Woodson, Jackson, Harris, Johnston, Ritchie, Jolley etc... But Honestly in this 7 years span the most dramatic missing ingredient on my team are: the heart, the soul, "los huevos" as we say on spanish... my friends jokes about me & my passion for the silver & black, my mother alway tries to excuse against my brother (stelergay fan) & my father ( cowgirl fan), i´m 36 now & i know in a deeply way that I will be in love with the silver & black for may years to come, mainly because the genesis of this team is a proud history of faith, no clichés, a smashmouth for haters & non believers... all my friends are fan of diferent teams & when we discuss (drinking beer sometimes) regarding my passion for the raiders I´m always start saying... no one team on profesional sports has been so culture & history changing fact for their league as us... the team home movements, the minority coaches, female excecutives, the merger afc -nfl, etc... after all of this stories everybody shut up... (to certain haters 3 rings is not enough lately... usually my brother tries to win with this argue but himself is ashamed with the BS of Noll, swann and those gays triyng to jail us on the 70´s with stupid criminal charges... WHAT KIND OF LADIES THEY WERE!!! HAHA
I love Big Al as I love our colors, our triumphs & defeats, I love our hall of famers & also our busts, I´m always cry when we lost warriors to free agency ( I´m still hating Woodson on yellow, The Hoss as a Redskin, Marcus Allen a chief) & Im´always salute with vehemency to the new free agents... but man!! is very very hard smile on this times, but you know?... the Silver & Black is too much part of me because I pass form a 17 inexperienced young man to a family head with a wife & two girls always wearing a silver & black shirt...
NO matter how hard the times are, no matter how you-know-who is scraping his legacy... I´m always be a loyal, deeply in love Raider Fan.
Nice to join to people with the same passion no matter how much distance, ethnic, color, age, nacionality, social status, job, religion we have...
( If in some parts my english are not enough good, excuse me...I will try to improve it).

Welcome Carlos, my Raider brother from another mother! "Los Huevos," aka "cojones"
are certainly lacking from today’s team. I’ve liked that there has been a demand for character amongst the picks of late, but it remains to be seen if we can decipher if these guys who supposedly possess character possess talent that translates to wins on the football field for this team when emphasizing the character prerequisite in prospects.
I remember that (LA) Raiders team, and the other Raider greats that I’ve endured the decades with, which now seems so long ago. I have yet to understand how we still attract more fans worldwide than just about any other team in any sport, but understand fully why we have attracted the best and most loyal fans for the great heritage and mystique this team has offered in decades past.
Stick around; we’ll help you out with that English thing. Just ask Spirals how beneficial she’s found it to be. It’s good to have your passion here, and we’ll look forward together to better days.

Well written. Never worry about grammar as we all make the mistakes even those of us with english as a first language. Dont worry about anything post and show your pride as the rest of us do. Thanks for the memory reminders of players past and the great moments.
Win at all costs! Winning ugly is still winning! Remember the past and what got us to the top before. Jim Plunkett and winning ugly......enough said!

What is it about our defeats and busts that you love?
Yeah i like hearing this!

If i love my colors...i good & bad times!!
Defeats?
Last superbowl defeat ( absolutely unfair since gruden was aware of our strengths & weaknesses) the divisional playoff loss from 1993 we were on good position to defeat Bills but the “draft bust” Patrick batesfails to cover to Bill brooks on the last TD from bills to loss, the immaculate blooper from the non special franco harris (non special due by the oline that the steelers has on that days) , some in season lost 1992 to Cinncinatty kittis when we cause a fumble on a kickoff retuning on OT, vs cleveland on 1994 (i´m not sure) when we deliver a safety to end clock game but we were unable to resist the last drive from the browns, the last defeat on monday night… the blowout on AFC championship 1990, the ravens defeat on afc championship from 2000, the BS tuck rule game, I must to assume the defeats also accept all of them and assume that they are part of my passion… just I´m angry when we put a heartless product on field ( example: last season vs jets…) It´s clear for me: when you are dominated we must accept it… but when you deliver the game, when you stop the fight and commit a complete letdown… thAts is UNACCEPTABLE… JABUSTUS is a big contributor but I never seen a Howie Long or a terry Mcdaniel, The wiz, Mosebar, etc. deliver a game in this way
Draft busts? james folston, patrick bates, teyo jhonson, antajj hawtorne, demeane douglass, nick bell, marinovich, billy joe hobert, etc, etc., … all good skill player that never reach impact for our colors… I guess mainly because all the Bs that Al insists on install, the f…g old schemes & all that BS…

So, by "love....our...defeats [and] busts" you mean that you are passionately involved and, re defeats, you love the games
that we fought intensely but came up short. Still don’t understand the ‘busts’ part. Maybe we use the word “love” in different ways. I love what I consider good.
by Sons-of-Blanda on Mar 8, 2010 6:57 AM PST up reply actions
CLARIFYING...
Example: my wife… I love her deeply, completely, with the good & bad, I can´t separate those things, she´s my wife with all the package, she is terrible cooking but that also is part of she, i can´t separate…
The “draft” is a project, good intention, illusional development project, expectation, forecasting good results… really? dissapointment, sadness, anger, shame.. but finally is part of us, of our history, not exclusive of us ( ki-jana, mandarich, leaf, salaam, erickson, torreta, mirer, etc.etc) I prefer to consider a Bust like a “Fallen Angels”… I remember when we lost Ronnie Lott to NY Jets I was too happy with the patrick bates draft pick, good size, speed, instincts, a tackling machine… reality? lost assignments, lack of tackling technique, toasting & toasting on coverage, wrong field reads, etc. but it was a nice project…
Sometimes I guess: what if all the draft picks developed on stars?… simply we won´t have veterans, so? the bust is part of a natural selection: environment, situation, supporting cast, scheme, coaching, etc… I know, I know maybe we are doing wrong because we have too much draft busts on last years, but anyway I think is a process.
Don´t you?
by mexicanpridenpoise on Mar 8, 2010 7:59 AM PST reply actions
Your approach is both involved and detached at the same moment. Stoic, ... but with unstoic-like passion
Your way is serene, even with all the passion, as though everything is going to happen no matter how much thought and effort takes place in advance … it’s fatalistic but you seem able to enjoy events unfold. Maybe I should discard my Aristotelian approach and enjoy the ride … but, dammit man, I’m not passive. Still, all the reasoning and advocacy for the Raiders just falls on deaf ears and comes to nothing – in a word, I’ve been chasing the wind and a wasting time thinking I could effect their decisions and help them win. This conceit of mine has become a chief vanity among competing vanities. Still, I’ve met some great people on this blog, really good souls who I’ve come to love.

I was jocking Patrick Bates pretty hard myself, I must admit
So we’re all given to being enamored by those we think are the answer, are we not? Perhaps we all should take our new friends approach to heart, at least a little, and let time tell how 2010 will be, and not the past?

Jagger, I live in Mexico, queretaro city 200 km north of mexico city
What I mean when I say “I love Al”
I must love Al, because he give us all this passion thing, he makes a franchise from nothing, he give us a reason to fall inlove, he is the king and dictator, the reddemer & the criminal he´s responsible for all this suffering thing also, I wish him enough health and willingness to fix this madness… I never accept the fact that we don´t have a GM or the doghouse of Marcus or all the miscues during all years but, is the same: Big Al also is part of my passion… now Allen Davis is an inoperant living legend, too nostalgic to see the reality…

On the contrary, mi amigo, your command of the English language, while not perfect, and knowledge of this Raider team and its history
are quite impressive. As Sons pointed out, you seem a dichotomy of existence, and I love, above all, the metaphor of your love for this team with the love you have for your wife! The terrible cook stuff cracks me up! Not to sound bigoted, but I’ve never met a Mexican woman who couldn’t cook! lol I too, have a better half that lacks the culinary skills I’d love, but I like to cook great food myself, so perhaps it is a match made in heaven.

More rules, that have more exceptions that have no logical reasoning behind them whatsoever, than any other language I know, too
Perhaps it is because it truly is the amalgamation of so many different cultures, and lacks its own true identity separate from any individual one that makes it what it is; at least today’s version, anyway.
I agree wholeheartedly. It must be extremely difficult to learn for new language and second language learners.

When I started. This is not a Chuck joke; he really was partners with Master George Dolby, the one guy I’d put up there with Chuck in all-time badass status. You can probably google the dude, and find some great stuff. I never saw another guy approaching sixty years old kick one of those giant heavy bags and make it hit the ceiling and shake the bldg foundation, and probably never will again. He was truly larger than life. I never met Chuck, but supposedly he was a staple there when the school started.
