Kansas City Signs Thomas Jones To Join Jamaal Charles in the Backfield

According to Adam Scheffter:

Filed to ESPN: Thomas Jones signs in Kansas City: two years, $5 million. Chiefs have their running back. No need for Willie Parker to visit.

Star-divide

This is a mind blower for me. The Kansas City Chiefs are having the best off-season of any team in the NFL and that is NOT good news for the AFC West!

Jamaal Charles and Thomas Jones will be a tough backfield to stop. With thier O-Line improving late last year and with the additions of Romeo Crennel and Charlie Weiss to the coaching staff this team is looking to rise to the top of the AFC West FAST! Really Fast!!!

I really do think so:

They have high draft picks and just added a very important weapon to join Jamaal Charles. In my opinion Weiss and Crennel, two of the New England Patriots Brain Trust from the glory days reuniting and adding a 1,000 yard back is the best, so far.

It is all about coming together as a team. At the end of the day, the team is all we have. - T. Branch 10-14-09

Jones

That’s all the money he wants to go to a team that isn’t a contender? I thought the Browns would give him a whole lot more to be a complete feature back.

Yeah we all know high draft picks dont win divisions tho...

They have a long way to go, jones is a journeyman back but hardly a game breaker, and coaching stops at the sidelines… just my opinion but i dont expect a fight outta them unless its a division game.

KC didn’t sign Jones to be a game breaker, they have Jamaal Charles…

long hard road outta hell...

Not saying i cant be wrong. But i doubt they get out of last in the west still.

You do realize that KC finished only one (1) game back of the Raiders last season, right? You make it sound like they are clearly the worst team in the West. They’ve improved this off-season….

by T-Rich on Mar 9, 2010 7:59 PM PST up reply actions

Umm yes! However you have to look at their margin of loss!

they are actually pretty far behind the division in other than my eyes, and im not biased when i talk football.

Enlighten me

How are they pretty far behind? I agree that they aren’t in the class of the Chargers, but I think KC is on par with Oakland at the very least. Not accusing anyone of bias, just extremely curious now….

oh god...

see i would looooove to talk shop but in a bar cause i aint got no beer! if you live in kc maybe ill be out there for the game this year, but its not really a conversation on here u know?

So a site talking about football isn't the place to talk about football?

Yes the Chiefs got blown out quite a few times last year. However 6 of their losses were by 7 points or less. If you only look at the totals then it looks a lot worse, because there were some bad blowouts last year.

by Jawookie on Mar 12, 2010 6:44 AM PST up reply actions

I say we get both games this year!

I think he’s decent… maybe im the only doubter in kc tho? Not like teams were after him like chester, whew now THAT would have been bad news! Jones ah he’s been passed around enough im not worried.

Jones is alot better than Chester Taylor dude

This signing really worries me. Jones not only is a hard ass runner and a better version of Justin, But hes a vocal leader. The Chiefs are getting good. I can only hope Matt Cassel fucks up or tears a ACL or something. I know, Thats a horrible thing to wish upon someone. But I dont know the guy, Maybe hes douche

There's mutual respect between cheifs fans and I... even when were trying to kill each other lol

UH OHHHHH RAIDERS!!!

here is my problem with the raiders: any other team would have given justin fargas a breakout season 3 seasons ago!

if you can’t get a dood like that out of the backfield, then what good is McFadden gonna do?

by CHEEFS!! on Mar 9, 2010 4:57 PM PST reply actions

Dont get shit twisted

We as fans love Justin! He was my favorite player for a long time. But, He injury prone and was taking carries from 2 feature backs. I can only hope the best for him. McFadden is a whle different story. We noticed hes not a pure bread HB. But, under the right OC, He will kick alot of ass. And have you ever heard of Michael Bush? Im sure you’ll get use to the name this year. Ecspecially when he just got done raping your D

lets get off of justins injury prone-ness

mcfadden is who we should worry about. he has been out for a total of 16 weeks in his first 2 years. plus he isnt scared to lower his pads into a defender instead of throwing a move to make a guy miss and get further yardage. and he was avg less than fargas but hopefully we can see 16 straight weeks of dmc to see what he might be able to do.

If I had it my way

I would trade DMC for as much picks as possible. But I just cant do that. Im really hoping that Hue Jackson turns Darren around, If he cant do it, I say dump him. He’ll be just another Oakland bust

young players do rookie shit...

Darren ill be the lightning to Bush’s thunder and all that inexperience coming from splitting time three ways will be over… fargas would have been all over the league if we hadnt kept him. Seven years is alot for a heart and soul hometown hero…face the facts.

Actually, I think Jones is slightly overrated.

Sure, the jets had the #1 rushing, but they have a GREAT OL. And Jones is getting old, and he isn’t as fast as he used to be. He’ll be dangerous, but he IS overrated.

by patriotguy on Mar 9, 2010 5:42 PM PST reply actions

Jamal will still get 25 touches.

TJo will get 10-12. We’ll get our line right.

by skunk420 on Mar 9, 2010 7:55 PM PST reply actions

I thinks it because they involve the AFC west

And RRS post if getting clogged with comments. I think 350+ now, And unless I see more than 5 new comments on there, I dont bother to check it. So Saint felt the need that these signings were too important for just a comment
