UDRFA MLB/DE Brashton Satele - Hawaii - Signs with the Oakland Raiders

The unearthing of available DE and LB talent was consolidated into one man moments ago in the 6-1 240 lb DE who transitioned to MLB. Satele missed most of his first two seasons at U. of H. due to injury (shoulder) but finished strong his last year. He petitioned to get a medical exemption to allow him to continue playing college ball another year but the NCAA denied the middle linebacker Brashton Satele's request for that exemption.

Well, if the NCAA didn't want you - the Raiders do!!!!

Do you remember Cable's 4/15 press-conf when he talked about DEs? He said they were the best all-round football players

[I would have though LBs]. So, I consider many UDRFAs as mostly special teams players with a shot at the depth chart.

2 DEs – 2 sort of Wing DEs that line up outside the DEs – no DTs – and the obvious 2 ILB and 2 OLB – sacks galore!

It was a bad attempt a Satire. ..

Anyways I think we are just going for depth, special teams, and an upgrade over Richardson and Gunhiem. I also think that Scoot is going to be a permanent Will leaving us another DE short. So given that we only have Seymour, Shaunessy (sp?), and the big Lamar Houstan.

Think about this though, because I have trying to figure out what we are doing. We have two HUGE DEs now in Seymour and Houstan, and plenty of 3rd down pass rushers. I think what they are trying to do is have our DEs force it to the inside and funnel the RB to Bryant and Kelly, and with the reports of Bryant putting on the pounds this is GREAT. Now our DTs don’t have to be run stuffers, they just have to take up space in the middle. This leaves our new MLB to pick up any remaining scrapes, and hopefully he’s able to prove he can shed a G unlike Kirk.

well not only considering that we resigned him for 5 years I think

but maybe… a 1st in 2012, and a 2nd, a 3rd and a 4th next year. Maybe not the 4th.

But he’s the ONLY GREAT DT we have(our backups won’t be able to do as much as him).

This guy is worth A LOT now, and likely won’t be traded anytime soon.

Unless… you give us a 2nd, a 3rd, and Asomugha… that deal is enticing a bit, BUT ONLY A BIT! Because Wilfork is VERY important to us, and we basically cannot afford to loose him.
that basically leaves us defensive tackless.

I’ll ask the guys tomorrow, but they’ll likely say the same thing.
