After going defense in the first 2 rounds stopping the run was our first order of buisness. Then a little later got some Corners and special team players. I was half right with my Bye bye LBs post we traded Kirk but kept Howard. Howard will be a nickel LB with his elite speed and coverage skill and that will work out great he can focus on intercepting passes like he used to. I know we all remember him taking some back to the house. On the other hand who's the other nickel LB gonna be? Other then Howard i don't see any LB who can cover. I'm not saying Mr.McClain can't just saying that's not what hes known for. Overall the D has to step up as well as the offense. Defense wins championships.
The Secondary-Aso,Huff,Branch,CJ,Route,and Mcfadden-I hope Aso gets more passes next year to prove he's the best so i don't have to deal with experts comparing him and Revis. Don't get me wrong Revis has skills but with a great pass rush and a little zone help he doesn't come close.Bailey is the only one who maybe you could compare. Huff improved with tackleing and making contact last year and proved he can start in this league and is not a bust. I hope to see more turnovers this year especially from the safetys. It's great that Branch had so many tackles but i hope he has less this year with more turnovers. CJ is ok. He can make big hits and nice picks but he needs zone help and he is most likely not gonna get it here. Route makes me mad and don't even wanna discuss him. The only thing i know about Mcfadden is he is fast,is related to a steeler CB and rarely gets beat deep. Sounds good right? Hopefully with us getting some pass rushing LBs will help out this very good secondary.
LBs-Wimbly,Scott,Brown,McClain,and howard- Wimbly we got for a 3rd rounder who has good pass rushing skills. Scott is a fan favorite who used to play DE who also has very good pass rushing skills. 5 sacks rookie year and he didn't start. Mr.McClain is our first round pick straight outta Bama. Hes a thumper, a leader, and a champ. He good solve our run D problems. Brown plays with heart and can play any LB spot. I alread talked about howard, Theres alot of talent in this corp even SB worthy?
DLINE-I'm sorry to say but we will not use a 3-4. Maybe some 3-4 or 4-2 looks. 6 guys will see playing time this year, Seymour,Houston,Shaughnessy,Bryant, kelly and Groves, Groves is strictly a pass rusher, Kelly can be good but can't handle the double team. Bryant and Shaunghnessy are guys who showed they can play and i hope kick major ass next year. Houston was drafted to stop the run and is playing DE not DT, Seymour our franchise player can lead this team and got double teamed alot but with the new blitzing LBs and an improved line he will do better.
If u think i forgot about someone i didn't, Mike Mitchell (favorite player) I watched him at Ohio and expect him to get into the starting line up either at safety,CB, or maybe even LB. This guy plays like a Raider. If u didn't see the youtube vid go watch it now. With opening up against the Titans if we can shut CJ down i think we can take advantage of young. I think Cortland is better then Revis but alot of people do not. Agree to disagree. The Oakland Raiders are rising and teams need to watch their backs and keep there eyes open especially if Mitchell is on the field.
