Whose jobs are on the line?
With so many promising players moving into Oakland, filling their lockers and sporting Silver & Black, the question arises, "which veterans will lose their starting or back-up positions and which one's will be cut?"
FB Oren O'Neil is the first casualty of mini-camp and there are approximately 73 men-in-black now working out this weekend at Mini-Camp - that's 11 players over the roster limit when the practice squad, which can carry 9 players, is taken into account.
So who do you think will not be on the team (and why) when we take Titan's field in Tennessee September 12th.

CARLISLE WILL BE REPLACED
evryone else on that list but tommy klly or chris johnson will loose starting jobs, they started by default. but the Carlisle will be the most important change
Yea i think Walker might start the season at RG
but Bruce could come in later. Routte will stay. kelly and cj for another year. Eugene is ok as a back up but Higgins and Fry might go as well. We have 4 Wrs better then higgins.
I think Frye is a no doubter
and Coop and Hiram are likely on the way out too, unless his coverage skills remain ahead of any of our other guys or Stevie Brown shows no promise at this level.

Frye is definitely an easy choice considering how many quarterbacks we have on the roster.

It's too bad
the guy is a good third QB, better than the rest on the roster at that job. He is basically a qb coach. I’d rather have him that Boller, but I think both are on their way out.
"We can't stop here... This is bat country."
I kinda think all of these guys will be on the roster,
but I think Frye has the biggest chance at being released. I know Cable loves him, but Hue knows Boeller and Al loves former high draft picks.
If Campbell and Walker look solid at G it may make Cooper expendable, but he is a versatile back up so I think he’ll be around.
I think Eugene will still get his PT. Huff was great in the 1 deep situations last year year, but the coaches still favored Eugene in the others.
JLH may run the risk, but I think if he stays healthy he’ll make it. I think he is the teams best option at the slot. If he gets any chemistry with Campbell he could have a solid year.
I think the others are locks to make it. As much as I think Routt sucks and the tender is too much, to cut him would be leaving way too much up to the rooks.
I think when people are being funny, they are actually being serious and when people are being serious, it's actually really funny.
all of the qb's except maybe grad are former 1st rounders

Coulda sworn Frye was a 1st rounder by Cleveland
but I am not sure. I’m goin with yours until otherwise proven. And I think we all thought JR was gone. Guess Al’s takin one long last look before cuttin him.

If JC Starts.
our dline recks. Our LBs blitz. Our Oline Improves. Chaz and DMac stay health=Playoffs
Thats right if all those things happen playoffs
The team is gonna start playing like a team the only jobs that are safe is Aso’s,McClain(lotta pressure for a rook) and Dicks. I think Al knows his time is running out and wants to win one more before he goes.

Shane Lechler, Sabastian Janokowski, Zach Miller, Tommy Kelly and Tyvon Branch
are all guaranteed starters in my opinion. Plus McClain, Nnamdi and Richard as well.
Phillip Rivers Is A Douche
Don't share your high opinion of Chris Johnson - my money's on Walter McFadden to displace him early this season
Johnson’s like rubber, Walter’s like glue

About that....... Remember when we were like "who's number 36?" well it wasn't him. (my mistake)
Because according to Jerry Macdonald’s tweets he kept getting burned by Yamon Figurs, Jacoby Ford, DHB, and Murphy…..
;(
The RaiderLaker
I voted for Stanford Routt
Wishful thinking, but everytime the defense gave up a big pass play last season it was his fault. We drafted 3 dbs one of them has to be better than Routt. I think Jacoby Ford will take Higgins spot. Hopefully he can run a pass route and not take out his own team mate.

I voted Frye
as it’s looking less and less likely we’re cutting JR by the day. Carlisle I would imagine we’d keep for roster depth and with the depth at reciever and returns, JLH is an outside bet to go.
JLH has a great chance to go. We have Yamon Figurs, Rock Carwright and Jacoby Ford
returning kicks and punts. And Yamon and Jacoby both play slot reciever as well. And Im betting Jacoby Ford will take his spot there.
Phillip Rivers Is A Douche
ALL of the Above
You missed a category: All of the Above. In the NFL they all have a chance of being cut. I would not be surprised to see four out of seven gone from your list.
I voted JLH
but Frye is probably gone too. Cooper is a decent backup, Tommy Kelly is one of the only DTs we have, Routt should be gone but won’t be, CJ will be here until he can be beaten out of a back up job too and Hiram Eugene is any ones guess whether he makes the team or not, he’s been a decent back up, but that MaGahee thing from last year was an embarrassment to the whole organization.
When I want Mel Kipers opinion, I'll fucking give it to him !
Me
Cooper Carlislt will be relesed for 4 reasons: 1. Cable wants to "start" Bruce Campbell at Guard (and I don't believe he
was referring to Gallery). 2. $3.5 million saved (4th round money for Campbell added value), 3. significant upgrade. 4. Carlisle is entering his 11th year and slowing down.
Yeah the $3.5mil is definitely an X factor
in making Carlisle too expensive to be a backup, anything is possible.
Do you think if JR doesn’t win the starting job and also doesn’t restructure his contract he’ll be too expensive to be a backup???
When I want Mel Kipers opinion, I'll fucking give it to him !

Cable: no one's job is safe
I told the team, no one is going to get a job or earn a job on this team between now and the end of June. What you can do, is A: you can get yourself cut because you don’t know what you’re doing and you’re not working hard. And B: you can prepare yourself to go to camp and to earn a job.
Great policy and attitude - Cable is moving up steadily gaining respect

Who woulda thunk it?
Didn’t most everyone want him gone 2 or 3 months ago? And now he’s saving our team by doing the right thing and making everyone compete.

man that is a hard choice
I chose Charlie Frye, but I think there is a good chance even he makes this roster. I think JaMarcus Russell should have been an option!
Hirum Eugene is a solid number two guy for both safety positions. I think he stays.
Johnnie Lee Higgins is on the fence for sure. He needs to prove his worth. This may be his greatest challenge as a wide receiver yet.
Cooper Carlisle will provide at least a solid backup guard for the year, so he stays.
CJ and Kelly are both going to be starters, IDK why they are even on the list. Routt got a first and third round tender, so I highly doubt he will go anywhere.
You have to remember that any of those rooies and UDFA’s could end up on the practice squad, along with some of the rookies from last year. 73 guys, with a roster of only 53, but also 9 players are eligble for the practice squad, so really, they only have to cut 11 of them. The others will still be there.

Why would a DT's job be on the line?
The Raiders are so thin it’s scary at the DT position. No way Kelly gets cut. Same go’s for CB Johnson, he is the second best CB on the roster. If anybody has anything to worry about it’s Carlisle and Fyre. Campbell just might take over at RG. I’’m not saying Carlisle will get cut, but he could lose out to Campbell and eventually will.
I voted JLH as much as I loved watching him tear it up at UTEP.
The team signed Yamon Figurs and Jacoby Ford was drafted so because of his poor route running and horrible return instincts he is most likely gone. Carlisle and Frye may be gone as well. Kelly needs to stay since there is little depth after him.
Clocked
JLH was never the same after getting clocked on a pass over the middle. I could not understand why he was not used instead of a FB to run kickoffs back. To me that alone puts him at risk to be cut.

I think Routt’s JOB is in jeopardy, but not his overall spot on the team. Routt will make the team, but McFadden could become a good corner once he adjusts to the NFL.
Higgins’s JOB is also one in jeopardy because Ford is looking better already and is even faster and stronger. Plus, it would seem he is a better returner. Alas, I shall remember Higgins’s one year of return prowess.
