Donovan McNabb went to the Redskins. Damn!!!! How did we let that happen? In a perfect world, this is upsetting news for any true Raider fan. Donovan would of given us consistency and would've made us respectable. But, i believe we should learn from the Eagles' example rather than be mad. " Why", you may ask? Let me break it down for you...
The Eagles we're in a enviable postion in the first place. 3 NFL starting quarterbacks on 1 roster? Thats ridiculous. We dont even have 1. We have 2 back-ups and a bust. The Eagles front office was obvioisly smart enough to draft good (McNabb, Kolb) and smart enough to nab free-agents(Garcia, Vick). We drafted Russell and signed Gradkowski and Frye. they also draft well at other postions (Jackson, Maclin, McCoy) and release or trade aging stars at the right time (Westbrook, Brown McNabb)
The Eagles develop their young talent so that when it is time to release aging stars, they have somebody they can put right in their place. When Westbrook went down last year, McCoy stepped right in place and excelled. When NcNabb broke his rib last year, Kolb threw 2 300 yard games. And how many time did you see Maclin and say, "Damn, i wish we drafted him rather than DHB!!!!"
The whole point to this post is, dont be mad at the Eagles. They're doing what they are supposed to be doing. I just wish the Raider Front Office (This means you AL Davis) would get thier act together and bring our franchise back to respectibility. If that means following the format of another franchise, so be it. There has got to be a reason why other franchises are doing so well and we are floundering into our seventh losing season and our immediate future is bleak.
