Coming into the offseason The Oakland Raiders had 3 goals.
1. Get some guys to stop the run.
2. Replace Russell
3. Get a better pass game to help the run game.
After drafting two defensive stars who played in the National Championship and cut some of the fat off the roster step 1 looks good.
We added Jason Campbell to compete with Bruce Gradkowski so Russell was cut. Did a great job with step 2.
Now don't get me wrong i really like our recievers but Schillens is injury prone. We all saw what happened when Murphy and Bey were the starters. It was a nightmare. Right now when Schillens is a 100% he's a low end number 1 at best but a great number 2. Murphy is an average number 2 but has what it takes to become a number one someday. Bey right now looks like a 4 but he's been working hard so i think he could be a great 3 this year. Ford is a wildcard with speed who could be great or might only be a returner.
Schillens gets injured where do we go from here? Will Murphy and Bey be able to handle the starting jobs? I'd rather be safe then sorry.
Terrell Owens is on FA. We can get him kinda cheap. He can be a vet to our young recievers. He caught 55 balls last year with no QB. He stays healthy so he won't get payed for nothing like Javon Walker. We sign him for 2 years. I just don't see any problem. We cut him if he causes problems and He will spread the D to open it up for other players. If we sign him and Schillens stays healthy we will have an above average WR corp with Owens,Schillens,Bey, and Murph not to mention Miller. Owens is 6-3, Schillens 6-4, and Miller is 6-5. That's a big corp.
