Fan Gauge:
I have no idea if the Raiders are contemplating any trades for this player and I am not big on rosterbation, but this deal has been greatly discussed--so, let's get the general feeling in tidy percentages. Remember, Gaither is in the last year of his contract.

My 2 cents...
I don’t like the long-term prospects of Gaither. He has a money fiending agent, an injury history and a questionable work-ethic. I have gone back and forth on this, but I’d pass.
For this season, I’d prefer to keep Seymour’s run stopping abilities on the D-line then swapping it for Gaither’s blocking.
I’d rather the Raiders hold onto their draft pick next year and draft another quality individual that would be easier and cheaper to sign then Gaither.
I think when people are being funny, they are actually being serious and when people are being serious, it's actually really funny.
Gaither played 11 of 16 regular season games and 2 playoffs (his playoff game against NE was his best).
Hugh and Kyle should be consulted at once – they would know if he’s someone we can count on … but work ethic or not – he’s a better beast than any we’ve got
I have no doubt he is better than what we have, but...
is he worth trading Seymour for? And is he the kind of guy you can sign to a big time long term deal? If not, I would not give up a 2nd.

What does Hugh say? Was Kyle Boller comfortable having Jared protecting him? Have these questions answered
and you will know the way.
I can't tell what they voted for on this poll....Damn it Sons, I need answers and I am turning to you.

I've suspected for some time that Hugh Jackson's nom de plume is none other than NYRaider. And, there's little doubt now that Al Davis
has been trolling this blog under the name, and obvious disguise, of mr. rat. But, I haven’t identified Boller yet, someone newer though; I’ll leave that piece for you.

yeah i pretty much am, i have the inside scoop; we are trading for gaither and he'll be start at RT for the next 8 years
i wish… but I’d like to believe we will entertain the idea to trade for gaither, my take on it is he’s on his contract year so he’ll play for his contract and be the franchise T we want him to be, the team will have a winning record and that’ll convince him to stay and of course because of the money and we just keep moving forward from there
3rd round pick and huff or howard??
2nd and jered??
…. either one of these packages they can go for and i wouldn’t mind
look at it this way...
seymour is 30ish-gaither 20ish..with the excessive amounth of D.E.‘s we have ,and a real shortage of o-line talent . i say trade seymour and chaz schilens..seymour’s age/schilens foot problems will trade probem for problem.jared has way to much of an up swing,we could actuly have a great o-line this season.
3 things win championships-real good D### – something we have with a true run stopping MLB.
a strong running game – bush/mc fadden.
a strong o-line.
with what we have and have drafted (o-line) wouldn’t jared be the icing on the cake..???
"think of the solution not the problem"
i can see your seymour arguement but definately not chaz, our best WR in a weak WR corp, and then Jered more youth?
we dont have to give up the farm for a donkey…
if i was playing G.M....
i love chaz just as much as the next guy.he’s one of our brightest stars, but he cann’t help us riding the pine.and thats just where he always ends up.
let baltimore throw in a draft pick.we go after texas andre johnson the way al throws money around a.johson would look sweet in silver & black or my personal choice the whites…
mybe get t.o i don’t want him on my team either but one of those contracts full of clauses will keep him in check i.e buffalo.
jared is young but has proven able to succeed at tackle.
"think of the solution not the problem"
I was for trading our #2 if we signed him long-term to be our starting left tackle but if he is another Haynesworth then forget it.
Sign Mawae and Flozell for 1 year deals to help the young guys get acclimated. Also we keep the 2nd rounder as well as our best run defender on the team.
I hope the 7 people
Who voted for Seymour are Ravens fans. I would like an OT with Gaither like abilities, but I am pretty sure his beef with the Ravens is over being demoted from LT. It seems we just drafted a LT, have a young starter, and a veteran trying to reclaim recognition in the league. It seems like a positive formula for TC. Hendo doesn’t fit RT as his strength is movement and pass blocking, Barnes has never played RT until last year in games and didn’t look the part (might be different though if he tries their over TC), and Veldheer who we just had a man crush on and took in the 3rd round. Gaither won’t want to play RT here for us, can Raider fans just accept that he isn’t in the plans and was probably already discussed with Hue.

woah i just read your signatures....sons? really?
because i feel like he might be the next kirk morrison, but then again he’s already wanting it sooo i think we picked up a jon beason like player
Or maybe its just that it was such a good off-season that the fanbase is actually excited about this upcoming season more than in previous years so we got to talk about the team ad nauseum?
Seriously I don’t agree with trading Seymour either but I think its understandable if someone is out there that can help the team it is worth talking about at least.

Plus all I either broke or sold all my game systems and with a 4 year old girl, I'm pretty much using all my excess money on her.
I so would love to be playing Madden 10 right now instead of hoping that Oakland signs 1 more big name that can put us over the top.

Why assume that if the Raiders had decided that they would try and trade for Gaither,
that it would’ve already have happened? If no one else is offering anything then it would be wise for the Raiders to wait as the price falls. If multiple teams are offering competing offers it is wise for the Ravens to play them off of each other and drive the price up.
I think you bring up a good point about him balking at the switch to RT, which is another red flag in my book for this guy in terms of signing him long term.
I wouldn’t count on Barnes for any RT help this year since Cable has moved his under achieving ass to G. I also don’t know why RT shouldn’t be good at movement and pass blocking.
I think when people are being funny, they are actually being serious and when people are being serious, it's actually really funny.
by Rich Langford on May 19, 2010 4:26 PM PDT up reply actions
Why assume it hasn't been discussed?
Especially, given the structured and seemingly well thought out offseason they have put together.
Maybe Hendo can make the switch back over there, I don’t think he has the size or strength to go against Base Ends, he seems like more of an athletic tackle with great reach. Horrible comparison here but he is more D’Brick then Lincoln Kennedy.

I don't think anyone is assuming it hasn't been discussed,
If Mario is good enough to play left tackle he is good enough to play right. The rusher he has to block will be as dependent upon the position of the TE as the side of the line he is on. Hell, I am hoping he can play either consistently.

What about Barnes? He was a pretty good LT with Jacksonville, but he was feeble at RT for Oakland..

I'd trade Seymour...He's 30 years old and in the last year of his contract.
Plus, we have an imense amount of talent at DE, not so much at OT..
In Bruce We Trust
yeah seymour would fit their 3-4 sceme perfectly i think they would jump for that idea
they would have two set of d Line the starting one with Halati and the second dline with Mt cody, they wold be a beast of a defense though.
in the end it makes sense plus we wouldnt have to give up a 2nd if we trade seymour
But we lose our best run defender on a team that sucks at defending the run.

by Rich Langford on May 19, 2010 4:33 PM PDT up reply actions
yaeh i wouldnt want to trade seymour he's a key on our defense
on paper it sounds good trading one year guys and getting youth need at T but is we let seymour go we are letting go too much
There is the chance the Lamarr could be the next Seymour,
this would be placing a lot on the Rook, but if the coaches see he can be the teams new Dick, then suddenly this move may be perfect.
I think when people are being funny, they are actually being serious and when people are being serious, it's actually really funny.

yeah i totally agree with that
i haven’t thought of that, its something to think about during going into the trade deadline, if the situation works out that way the trade would be perfect for us
That immense talent at DE
Might mean that Seymour is playing DT.

Suddenly Seymour
So, people posting here want to trade Seymour and yet the Raiders are trying to sign him to a long term deal. We better start throwing another name out there.
Haloti Ngata or Kelly Gregg play NT as well.
Why isn’t there discussion of a trade for either of those guys? I think a true NT would help this team in the short term much faster than another tackle playing a zone blocking system.
OTs are available and we need one bad. There really aren't any NTs out there in FA but we should make some calls
to teams with vet NTs and see what they would want.

6'-9" 350 lbs or protection for Bruce & Jason (and he cooks to relax ... a gentleman who would fit right into the lineup and lockeroom)

So hows about keeping our 2nd rounder & trying to give 2 3rd rounders & Routt?
I don’t know if Ozzie Newsome is that stupid though…
But he is cooking for 2

Trade..
Oakland Gets: Jared Gaither- OT, Lamar Divens- NT and 2011 4th Rd. Pick
Baltimore Gets: Richard Seymour- DT, Thomas Howard- LB and 2011 6th Rd. Pick
We walk away with a brilliant OT, a young, large and strong NT and a draft pick. Yet Ozzie gets his defensive stars in Dick and Howard..

Excellent photo. The raised brow and wide-open blue-eyed gaze ... the seducing devil in his most deceptive
and treacherous talent. I consider Logan right there with Henderson (Jack’s first cold-blooded execution) as the best villain over 8 years … Nina Meyers is in that group and possibly Dana Walsh but they are of a lower caliber.
by Sons-of-Blanda on May 20, 2010 8:00 AM PDT up reply actions
And then there is Tony
who is in a class of his own. What was he a double, triple, quadruple agent? Hard to put him in the vilian category, though.
Logan is the perfect 24 villian. Sherry Palmer was great in a very annoying way. I’d put Nina notches above Dana.
I hope the first dick comes back to berate pres Taylor. “You are going to have to be persecuted to the full extent of the law for these offenses.”

oh yeah, forgot about Sherry Palmer ... what a piece of work she was. "Oh, David that is so unfair."
She was as annoying as Dana (trailer trash) Walsh but for different reasons. Jack was hooked on heroin and beat it down the same day. He never goes to the bathroom either or needs to shave. What will become of him next week? Several blogs have him killed. I say he sacrifices himself to protect either Cloe or the fine looking President of Iran.

Jack can do anything...
I am pretty sure he has been teleporting this season. I loved how he was only mildly annoyed by being stabbed. I’d have left the armor on, but then again, I’m a mere mortal.
No way he gets killed, before the movie anyway—unless he gets killed like Tony got killed. I say he stops just short of killing everyone and going completely over the edge and dissapears like Bruce Banner, while Cloe lets him and sets up the movie. Maybe he goes to Russia, which will leave the Russians to face their worst on-screen American beat-down since Rocky 4!
You are right about the president of middle easternville! she is single handedly changing my view on the attractiveness of middle eastern accents.
Will President wishy-washy get the Logan treatment?

Houston will do fine..I'm fully confident that he and Shaughnessy will be great Raider DE's for a long time..
The only worry is, who’s to play the other LB spot..I guess it’s up to Scott now, but he’s not great against the pass. So maybe he’ll have to adjust.
In Bruce We Trust
But if Houston goes to DT and Scott goes back to DE with Shaughnessy on the other side then Grove and Howard
can compete. Ro and Kam have Mike and Sam.
