PrintAddition by Subtraction - the Raiders just got even better by releasing the toxic-one whose bad attitude and misuse of his huge talent plagued the team and fans for far too long. This is just more evidence supporting the Raiders' reemergence as a serious, focused contender.
Thank you, Al Davis, for making a series of remarkably good decisions over the past four months.

Now that JRuss has been jettisoned we get to find out if Tom Cable has the ability to gameplan with the other head coaches of the NFL. No more excuses. No more blaming players. It’s on Cable to prove he can be a NFL head coach by gameplanning at this level successfully. Until I see it, I remain skeptical. I sure hope he proves me wrong.

I prayed to Yaweh, Odin,Thor, Zeus,Marduk, Set,Horus,Isis,Hera, Mighty Mouse, and Underdog. 300 pounds of suffocatingly bad meat has been thrown away after 3 years of rotting in the sun. All Praise God almighty.
I will never forget this day
I was sitting at Duke’s in Malibu, enjoying a nice lunch with my family and friends. At 1:35 pm PST my phone BLEW THE FUCK UP with a dozen texts. They all said the same basic thing: Raiders released JaMarcus. I stood up from my chair and yelled out YESSSSS! at the top of my lungs. I hugged my wife and told her the good news. I ordered a $120 bottle of wine that I couldn’t pronounce and toasted to a new beginning for my beloved Raiders. Day I got married, day daughter #1 was born, day daughter #2 was born, day Uncle Al shoved JaMarcus out into the wilderness. These are the 4 greatest days of my life!

At last, common sense prevails—for everyone except JR. If he and his management weren’t stupid, they would have re-structured his contract so he could keep making some money. He gets his three million now, but that’s the last money he’ll probably make in the NFL. He better hope he still has some pull in Louisiana so he can get a job as a salesman in a car dealership.

As a Bengals fan
I can share some of your pain when it comes to an organization that seemingly cant get out of its own way. But I can now also relate to the feeling that “THEY FINALLY GET IT!!!”
It would be interesting to find out exactly what clicks because it seems so obvious to most fans on what to do on draft day. 3 years ago, the Bengals FINALLY had a good draft, and have had solid drafts ever since. Uncoincidentally the Bengals have improved and won the Division last year and look to be at least a good team again this year.
I see the same thing with the Raiders after this last draft and with the release of Jagarbage Russell. Solid LB pick, trade for a solid and still young QB, and start building both sides of the line. If Al Davis can just stay away from drafting every DB with a sub 4.4 – 40 time and take GOOD FOOTBALL PLAYERS, then the Raiders could be a good squad fairly soon.
