Gaither please!!
He is 6’9 + 340 pounds and he is 24 years old!! Al if you really love the raiders you got to make the deal

They were asking for a 1st round pick. Maybe they'd take Bey

Not worth a first round.
Also why give up on DHB? Especially when our receiving corp is already so thin. He has shown so far this offseason that he is willing to work hard. As well, all reports are saying that he looked better this training camp than the last one. Everyone knew he was a raw talent when we drafted him and that it would take time to develop him (also people seem to forget that even though he was a reach he was still a 1st round talent) ; especially since he is a WR. Unlike the other project (JR), this one is showing the will to succeed.

I thought a second now... our 2011 2nd should seal the deal. We will have no 1st and 2nd, so inactive 1st day draft.
The RaiderLaker
um... wouldn't that mean us not having a 1st and second next year?
Unless you ACTUALLY mean 2010 and not 2011? lol idk. ;)
I'm also a Raider Fan dammit!!! RAIDER NATION!!!!
jake
he was rated the 5th best wr in the draft.
crabtree
nicks
mcclain
harvin
were all rated ahead of him.

Thats still 'Top Rated". He was 1st Rd. talent with high potential.
Thats not exactly ‘terrible". And I don’t think Nicks was rated above him. But I’m too lazy to check.

5th best at a single postion esp. wrs takes you out of the first round
especially when we were the first team with wr as biggest need to pick a wr… i hate to turn my back on bey but i wish we had crabtree instead, even nicks and harvey
he was projected to go mid to late first round

What do you think of Barnes and Henderson battling out for LT?
Both should be fine as long as Gallery stays healthy. Cable also seems to be pretty high on Walker at RT at the moment. A bigger problem seems to be at Gaurd. Carlise is still starting and is just average at best. I thought Walker did a great job last season filling in at RG, but he will most likely be the starting RT. If either of our Gaurds go down (like both did last season) what would we do? If gallery gets injured the whole left side is in danger, so I guess bringing in a good LT would help on that front (someone who could stand their own). Other than that, Morris is only good enought to fill in for a couple of games and Campbell is just not ready yet. Also we can’t forget about Veldheer and how he might play or fit in. 1st or 2nd string? RT or LT? When Carlise gets injured do we bring in Cambell? Or do we move Walker inside and bring in Veldheer or Barnes or Henderson?
Or O-line right now is just a huge question mark and the guys we brought in from the draft are huge question marks as well. Will a LT like Gaither help? Probably. However is the cost worth it when we don’t even know what we really have. We drafted 2 LTs and have 2 others that have the ability to be good but haven’t consistently stepped up. Perhaps bringing in a G might be a better decision. Someone that will replace Carlise as the starter and give us a competent backup for when Gallery gets injured.
Cable Bumaye! Raiders Bumaye!
Prefer Walker or B.Campbell at RG. Robert, please stay healthy. Veldheer must suck it up and play LT
Satele will be vastly improved. Cut Morris and Pears today. Barnes is backup. RT Henderson unless we get Gaither then Veldheer breaks-in at RT. Ideally then:
LT Gaither
LG Gallery
C Satele
LG Walker / B.Campbell
RT Veldheer

I hope you are right about Satele...
He is going to be a huge key for the line. With Walker switching to Tackle Barnes is getting some time at guard, too. Barnes was a starting Left Tackle just two seasons ago, he has to be of some use somewhere. If he can push for playing time at Guard, I will feel much better about the O-line. Whatever the case, RT worries me. I don’t see Mr. Walker being a ZBS Tackle and by all accounts Veldheer is not ready.

What a dream that would be...
if Al got Gaither, the dream would be complet.i dont know if i could containe myself from doing the happy dance all over the place.
WR Depth?
Maybe a couple WRs are banged up, bu the Raiders have about 11 on the roster, including Figures, Holland, Watkins. All have played in the NFL. So, the Raiders have depth, but are these the guys you want. I just question the depth comment.
A Gaither trade would be awesome!
We could give our 2nd in 2011 and maybe a 5 or 6th that year as well.
I question why some people on here are so willing to pull the plug on DHB like he was yesterday’s garbage.
It's not that (for me at least) rather the opportunity to get OL help, i.e. OT, which we need more than another WR
I’m for trading him for Gaither if Baltimore goes for it. Our OC is looking at the entire O and figuring out where we most need help; he knows Gaither very well; Gaither is the best OT available in FA. Can Veldheer mature fast enough to start; Henderson is very unreliable and Barnes and Pears are not NFL quality. Right now our OL is the weak link whereas we have a decent core of WRs – let DHB make the ultimate sacrifice for the good of the Raiders.
by Sons-of-Blanda on May 10, 2010 7:16 AM PDT up reply actions
Eh think of it this way...
DHB and Gaither arent too different in age(23,24) respec., DHB was picked 1st round and he wont live up to that status he wont be a number one rec., Gaither is a great OT better than ours, I get what makes you feel that its too early, but its like trading first round guys…plus we can sign TO and we would end up with a better WR corp
DHB for Gaither
is a joke of a trade nobody would do that. Until DHB shows SOMETHING he isn’t as valuable by a long shot. Not to mention Baltimore has Boldin, Stallworth, and Derrick Mason, and Demetrius Williams showed some promise for them. No way they do that.
Not to mention Al Davis doesn’t give up on physical beasts like DHB for years.
I still have faith DHB will turn it around you can’t really blame it ALL on him for his poor season. He did have major route running, catching problems but lack of QB play was also a factor

jake
dhb cant catch.
If he could catch he would return punts and/or kicks. He is worthless, send him packing w/ Jamarcus. The Raiders wouldnt have drafted Ford if they believed in DHB. Speaking of, Ford will take DHB’s spot this season.

Um....
If he could catch he would return punts and/or kicks
Really? You think this is why he wasn’t returning kicks and punts?

YES
Did you notice the merry go round of unproductive no-bodies we had at the return position last season? I did. For god sakes we had a 250 fb gary russell returning kick offs for a few games. That was not pretty…..
by rat, el rat, mr. rat, the rat on May 11, 2010 4:18 PM PDT up reply actions
You can't just put any ol' player on Special Teams.
KR/PR guys are usually practiced at that position. It takes practice to catch kickoffs and punts.
Damn good point (not about Bey) but about the WRs in Baltimore. Their good at RB too (so McFadden wouldn't temp them
It will have to be Huff then… and toss in Barnes if necessary for Gaither … Ciao presto!

obvs it wud be in a package with a 3rd round pick or something
but no DHB was a first round pick matter fact a top 10 pick, he’s not going to live up to that potential, he doesnt have the hands to be a number one wr he can be a number 2 at best and thats a waste of that pick. QB a factor? how many times did dhb drop the ball? i’ll give you that arguement only bc i hate jamarcus and i dont believe in Grad as a number 1 QB even still dhb doesnt have the talent to be a go to guy…..but yeah baltimore has what we have to offer so it wudnt work out
what happened
to Faneca to Oaktown ? It sounded like a done deal a week or so ago.

There was no link of Faneca coming to Oakland.

who would want bey?
you’d have to be ignorant of all things football to even raise the prospect of anyopne trading for Bey for anyone. Even a 7th rounder or free agent.
haha Comedic Irony..
You calling others ingnorant when yet you yourself are ignorant for saying Bey isn’t worth a 7th rounder.
