Around SBN: Kobe Bryant Will Never Top Michael Jordan

According to Tom Martinez (who?), the Oakland Raiders ruined quarterback JaMarcus Russell. It's apparent Martinez isn't bright.

Oh good, another Russell apologist that can't see the trees in the forest.
Martinez also noted that, during contract negotiations, the Raiders spoiled Russell by paying him $4 million more than Russell was asking for rather than meeting in the middle.

Where’s his citation on that?

As for Russell’s sssslow development, Martinez blames the supporting cast Davis assembled. Martinez pointed to weak offensive linemen, “receivers who don’t know how to get open, who don’t know how to separate,” and misuse of running backs in the passing game.

First off, a RB’s priority is to run the ball not catch the ball. 2nd, they sure seemed to get open when Gradkowski and Frye were under center.

Martinez admits that Russell will never capitalize on his talent if he doesn’t overhaul his work habits, but sees the New York Jets as a good fit for the 24-year-old, saying it would be a “brilliant move from a talent standpoint.”

So it’s not Russell’s fault, but it is.

“He was never wanted there by any of the coaches,” Martinez told Kristian R. Dyer of the New York Times. “The only one who wanted him there was Al Davis. … Al Davis told them to draft him. He was the epitome of an Al Davis quarterback.”

The only possibly believable paragraph from the entire article.

I’m more inclined to believe Nnamdi Asomugha.

+1

Would it not be great if we could clone him and get the Donkeys, The Dolts and a few other teams to then sign said clones. He is big enough that we could cut him up equally and divide him throughout the league for each team to take a corrosive piece.

Win at all costs! Winning ugly is still winning! Remember the past and what got us to the top before. Jim Plunkett and winning ugly......enough said!
