Passionate Pride: Why Raider Fans Will NEVER Leave the Nation

With the NFL preseason in full swing, football fans across the country have ramped up for another exciting NFL season. Fans from Atlanta to Chicago from Carolina to San Francisco are excited and optimistic for what their team might accomplish in the coming year. Experts analyze the schedules, fans circle wins, and projections are made for teams’ records before a single down of regular season football is even played. Off season moves are praised and lauded or chagrined and questioned. Over-confidence runs high and understandably so; after all, this is the only time of the year when all teams are even at 0-0.

Being the consummate Raiders fan, I also succumb to these preseason rituals, throwing out all common sense and making predictions based on my heart and the silver and black blood that runs through my veins. However, in the back...-

The true fans among us, not only want the wins again, but we expect them

we do not remember only the tailspin we have taken lately, and if you need an explanation of who Al Davis is, or his background, you don’t really know the history of football anyway.

If you’re a Raider fan of a younger generation you have seen a lot of losing, and little change for the better; for those among you, I ask of you your patience in the recent changes that will return this team to glory. We have not given a head coach a legitimate shot, or the team developing beneath him like we are since Gruden. Al and the team seem to believe in Tom Cable, and he will no longer burden the team with play calling, and can concentrate on uniting the team as a coach and hopefully his expertise with the line will emerge.

You are right about one thing with this post: Raider fans perpetually say, “this year’s the year…” Only this year, we’re really not far from being right. It’s really no less reason for us to expect nothing but the best from the silver and black, because that’s all the silver and black is gonna get from us as fans and members of the nation!

Raiders fans are the best

The greatest thing about Raiders fans is that the fanbase numbers don’t change, win or lose. I remember the days of glory, and have seen the days of darkness, yet the number of people who fly the colors, who proudly and loudly proclaim their faith and allegiance, who stand by through thick and thin, hasn’t changed at all.

Unlike so many other teams, whose ranks of ‘fans’ fluctuate based on their records last year, who try to usurp the name of the one, true Nation, we are a fanbase of eternal support. As much as we have different ideas of what should be done, who is good or bad, and what will happen every year, we are fiercely loyal to the team.

I was a Raiders fan 35 years ago, and will be one 35 years from now…

Also being an “OG” of The True Nation, being born, and raised in Oakland, and following not only the RAIDERS, But the A’s, Warriors & the Giants, who’s parents had season tickets from the very beginning, (Frank Yuel Field) I can truefully say, I AM A RAIDERFAN4LYFE !!!! Having gone to countless playoff games, & the last 4 superbowls the Raiders were involved in, ( i still hates me some CALLAGHAN for not adding something new) and seeing the history of the Raiders, good & bad, The Sea of Hands, the Holy Roller, BO Jackson running over …..ahhhhh what was his damn name, you know who the fuck i’m talking about !!!(oh yeah, BRIAN BOSWORTH) Then the BAD: Our last SB appearance, The DAMN TUCK PLAY, The Immaculate Deception, And the unfortunate Stingley Incident !!!! We have always had Blue Collar bad ass’s on the Raiders of old, that brought their lunch pales to work, like most of the people in Oakland, and most People who follows, and call themselves a part of The RaiderNation. We’re not Hollywood, Or NY, Miami or even S.F. WE ARE OAKLAND, Hard workers, who Just like the Raiders, Don’t Get a Fair shake in the eyes of the press!!!Now we have a new breed of Bad Ass’s on this team, who seem to want it, (winning) As bad as the Nation Does. We use to take in all the unwanted bad ass’s of the league, and win with them, and it looks like we back in that good mode again, Look at our FA pickups this year !!!
Now Far as being apart of the RaiderNation, most are born into it. But those that come to the us, see, we are the epitmy of DIEHARD FANS, ie; The BLACK HOLE. We wear our colors(The Silver & Black) Year Round !!! Come to Oakland, and see for yourselves, what the fuck I’m talking about, from our fits, to our whips !!!!!!!
