Tailgate Update: S&BP Meets Guy Fieri on Food Network

UPDATE: The Food network is limiting the amount of people who can be on the set. I will have more info soon. But, for the mean time, I think that we are booked, but have overflow into the Grill Iron Gang's tailgate.

Yes, Silver and Black Pride, our yearly crab feed has been chosen by the Food Network's Tailgate Warriors as a featured tailgate for this season's showdown with the 49ers on August 28th.

So, what does that mean to you? It means that you have the opportunity to come down on the day of the shoot, August 28th, cook up something and be in the shoot.

So far, on the menu, we have Crab, Tommy V's Bloody Marys, LA crawfish, (Hopefully bacon wrapped scallops Lynn, you out there?), Green Chili Cheeseburgers, Newcastle chicken and Old School ribs.

What you can do:

Star-divide

I want for S&BP to come out of this smelling like a culinary rose. This is a great opportunity for you to show your Silver and Black Pride while showing the rest of the Nation who Raider fans are. We love to cook early, drink deep and then root like HELL for our team, then come back out and eat some more before going home.

If you have any Raider tailgating items that we can use for the shoot, please let me know.

If you have a tricked out Raider car, van or truck that we can use as background (You get free parking and the vehicle has to be set up the day before) pleas let me know.

If you have a tricked out grill or want to roast a pig on an open spit, let me know, that would be a great visual.

Also, the Grill Iron Gang will be teaming up with the Black Hole at the Home Opener, and that tailgate promises to be 500 people plus, so let me know how many of you are planning on attending that one as well.

This is a great opportunity for this Community and I hope that we will have a great showing.

Cheers,

Saint

Actually,

I’m bidding on the renovation of his set on the Food Network. So, I should not be in this thing.

You should design this set Lynn:

The producer hasn’t given me free reign, but she has asked for “The Biggest Crab Boil EVER” theme. What better way to show your talents than by working on this project as a part of somethiing completely different. Plus, I could really use the help.

If you think that this in any way would jeopardize something that you have working, then I completely agree and we can enlist your talents for the 500 person tailgate that we are doing for Opening Day, the 19th. I had no idea that set design was your forte.

Have the tix, and plan to attend!

No tailgate setup, but I have a huge van that could easily be decked out with an awning and some Raider decor… I also have a mean dry rubbed smoked tri-tip recipe that we could enter.

I’m robbing Peter to pay Paul to even be able to attend this one, but always loved the Food network’s show with Guy, and look forward to the tailgate atmosphere to kick off the season! Definitely in for sure. I’ll be in touch, Ray.

Excellent! I'll probably be leaving Oxnard in the wee hours of Saturday morning

Putting me in the bay area in the late morning to afternoon time. I’ll have the tris packed and ready to grill…

If only I was closer

My baby backs are the stuff of legend…I do a mean as fuck brisket, too. When you grow up in Kansas you learn many things, and most of them will give you a full on cardiac arrest by the time you hit 60. Unfortunately with a baby on the way, I can’t swing my first trip to the Bay Area. I really really really want to catch a game in Oakland…maybe when the kid’s old enough, we’ll make that his first NFL game. I’ll guarantee you the kid comes home from the hospital in Silver and Black.

we never retreat we always ATTACK!!!

Nice. love the KC baby backs and brisket myself. I have a pretty good recipe my wife's family handed down for generations...

marinated with love, and slow cooked to have the perfect bark, with a tangy, sweet, zesty, spicy blend to make you wanna “slap yo mama…” as it were…

It’d be great to get a good showing from the site here. I’ve made some great connections with some great folks already, and look forward to the season and many more!

Raider/49er Tailgate

I am new to Silver and Black Pride and heard about this Tailgate for Food Network. I am a big Guy Fieri Fan on Food Network. I saw the last Tailgate he did with the Raiders and thought that would be cool to be on.

I am told I make a killer Fried Turkey, me and my other tailgate friends make a Turkey dinner every year in November, close to Thanksgiving day game. It has all the works, Turkey, Stuffing, mashed potatoes and Gravy, Green beans, and and even apple pie. It is awesome.

I would be willing to make the turkey if you are interested. Just need to know some things, Like what time to be there, What else if anything do you want me to make.

Thanks for the invite.

That sounds fantastic!!!

Unfortunately, we are booked up. But, don’t let that stop you from combining with our tailgate in the future. Also, I will see if , maybe, we can get you down there.

Is anyone interested in Bulgarian kebapcheta?

Kebapcheta are ground beef and lamb, seasoned with salt, pepper and lots of cumin, rolled into links and barbecued medium rare. I serve them with baby potatoes and salad, but they can be devoured alone. I like them a lot – as a matter of fact, they were the only ground-meat concoction that didn’t gag me when I was little.

Sounds fantastic!!!

I have three spots reserved for You, Sons and Bhryno. I’ll e-mail you the itinerary. It is pretty intense.

Set-up at 1:30 on Friday. (Which you wouldn’t have to make)
Start cooking at 7AM on Saturday
Wrap at 4:30PM

No, not now - except occasionally

I am a picky eater though – last year I gagged spectacularly in a sushi restaurant. There was a piece of plastic in my dish.

How

does Sushi place get plastic on the dish? Wrap left from the fish being covered I guess.
