Report: Raiders place QB Charlie Frye on IR after wrist surgery

According to Jerry McDonald's Twitter account, the team has placed quarterback Charlie Frye on injured reserve following his wrist surgery. Head coach Tom Cable says Frye will need 4-5 months of rehab.

Not too surprising

but somewhat unfortunate. It would have been nice to see him compete with Boller for the 3rd spot, but we’ll see how things will shake out.

Boller seems like a lock to win that third spot.

He has a clear experience edge over Colt Brennan. Boller made some fabulous throws to Figurs and Miller on that touchdown drive and really got into a rhythm after a couple of rough opening series. Brennan is really going to have to show a lot and should get more playing time than Boller this Saturday night in Chicago.

Maybe (not sure if he'll be eligible) he can go to the practice squad

It wouldn’t hurt to have another qb to plug in if need be during the season.

I don't think we NEED to.

I think being on IR makes you not count against the roster.

I realize you can’t pick up on sarcasm that well over a blog. Haha. I think it’s dumb how someone get’s an injury, and they get released right away..

Stafon Johnson broke his leg last week, so, the Titans released him. Now this kid has no work. It’s sad.

Frye is a perfect back-up QB. It’s a bummer about his wrist, but, he is still a great sideline coach. I’d keep him on as 3rd string, and put Colt on the practice squad.

So our QB depth looks like this I believe?

Campbell
Grad
Boller
Brennan

But I want Brennan over Boller.

Makes it easier

To make the QB choices now it seems. Frye wont count against the roster me thinks. I say Boller over Brennan. He has more experience and keeps things solid under center more than we have had in a great many years in terms of some what proven QBs based on how Grad played last year and JCs unrealized abilities.

When you least expect it there I am waiting below to take you out......if your lucky.
