Oh no!
When did it happen?
We have one pair of binoculars and are thinking of getting a second pair. I must say though – you see much more w/o the binoculars. And yet, you miss details like this one.

Jerry McDonald has a little something more on the Bush situation, but it's not really much.
Coach Tom Cable said Michael Bush sustained a thumb fracture and his status would not be determined until he saw a hand specialist Sunday.
As he was getting dressed, Bush needed teammate Michael Bennett to tie his shoes. He echoed Cable’s statements that he didn’t know if or how long he’d be out and he would know more Sunday.

This is sickening. Bush was a very necessary piece. MacFadden isn't fit for HB but has good hands and is excellent in space
a natural born WR … too too bad for us. It’s going to be more passing than running the next few weeks for sure.

Bush is left handed
He will be able to take hand-offs, but will have to carry the ball probably with his right hand. Depending on the size and restrictiveness of his bandage, he will not be catching passes for a while and certainly will not be able to throw the option pass. Ball security will be the key.
Your team is your child...You love it no matter what.
I don't see this being that big of a problem
It’s definitely not good, but guys are able to play through these types of injuries. He’ll probably wrap it well, and play with it. He could be limited for the 1st few weeks of the season in terms of being versatile, but we can just bring in McFadden for pass plays.
Branch played with a broken thumb a couple years back I believe, and Nnamdi played with a broken wrist for part of season.

my initial thought was that it was something he should be able to play with come week 1
as long as it does not affect his ball security

Oz' concern is mine - ball security, Bush will be susceptible to fumbling, the area now is not strong and will be tender

i would think two weeks
would be enough to get it healthy enough to play week one… if not then the pick between rock and mike bennett seems to be that much more important and i gotta say, so far im ridin the bennett train.
We'll see Bennett against the starters now for sure - too bad it came to this before we could see him and make the comparison
with Rock.

Well
we probably have to make due without him until early-mid October. Well for him to be of any real use that is. I say Bennett is more than capable as a fill in because McBroken won’t perform up to standards. I think we can make it for a while without him.

This is really bad
I was really high on Bush this year. DMC is not a every down type of back. Broken thumbs are not good. I broke mine some years back and it took months to heal. He may be out for the better part of the year

Virtually out, but no, he'll be playing in Tenessee or no later than St.L. I broke my thumb a month before double-days my
senior year and was in full pads hitting with a special thumb pad. However, I played DE and Bush has to pack that important thing with him and take special care of it.

It is a little different
your thumb is involved with 80%+ of your hand movements. As a RB that is just fucked. as a DE you hit and may grab a bit but can live without the thumb movement as a whole. For him to squeeze the ball with a hand off…………….. I see turnover from him. It also depends where it is broken. So I shall wait and see what transpires in terms of his play return and outcome or if he gets an IR position to start the season.

If its low, like the basal joint - that's the worst (intra articular Bennett). The middle joint isn't so bad and the end joint
the least serious
