Around SBN: Why Hockey Fans Should Root For Devils Vs. Kings

We Have an Assistant

Raiderdamus nailed the correct outcome again. Then again, so did everyone else. He was a little further away from the score this week than last, but never fear--he has found an assistant. TAW was astoundingly close with his prediction of 17-15. TAW, email me your pick for next week and we shall all benefit from the double seer advantage.

Special shout out to Sons-of-Blanda, who said that with the scored tied 10-10 at halftime the crowd would begin chanting something that ended with an uce sound. Of course, I am betting he started the chants, but what the hell--it may have just salvaged a season.

I’m man enough to admit that Sons was right about Bruce. Hell, I never stopped loving Bruce. I just wanted Al to look smart with the trade. But now, I can finally say this again, In Bruce We Trust!!!!

If I remember correctly

you were saying their needed to be a competition and that the job just shouldn’t be given to JC. You seemed to be in Bruce’s corner. While I was convinced that Campbell would be an upgrade. Maybe he will still prove to be, but I am all for Bruce starting now.

Had a few

good conversations with Sons at the game, and Ill say what I said earlier. I like campbell, I still think he has a future in the NFL as a starter, but not for this team. I dont know if the calm demeanor just doesnt mesh well with this team, but the entire team just seems to respond to Bruce Almighty’s play. Bruce and Cable may not be the long term answers for QB and coach in the long run, but they are both good for this team now. They both have the team playing all out, and thats more then any coach/qb has done for this team since gruden/gannon(callohan doesnt count but you still get the point) Going to enjoy the win for a day or so, then its off to week 3 against the cards(1-1).

Enjoyed meeting you, Marcofromda510, and throwing the football at the tailgate. That pass you caught while slamming

into the SUV told me even more about you than your vast Raider knowledge. Let’s do it again when we play Houston.

Was it you two who got the Bruce chant started or was that the Black Hole?

Well im not extending a long hand of congrates to Sons for being right...

I wasnt against having Grads in the game at any point, i just wanted the Raiders to win. Any man who valued their job would gave made that decision

I want to be the modern day version of Super Mario Brothers!!! Dont care for *shrooms*, but would love to *get large* and *spit fire*...unless im constantly told "thanks, but your girl is in another castle". That would rate a 8.9 on the ole *Suck-ometer*!!!

I wasn't even close

Good job TAW. Now if you could just give us some thoughts on what to do about our offensive line, we would appreciate it.

P.S. It was good that the ref’s gave some that they took last week back

The uce thunder sound - the Coliseum was shaking

Thunder also came every time Lamarr waved arms to us.

I was curious about Jason Campbell’s deportment during the second half, so I watched him through The Binoculars. It was an eerie experience – memories of JR came in. No involvement whatsoever with others – just staring in an unfocused fashion, left leg forward, fingering his belt. When Grad is not on the field, he’s always involved and always there at the post-play analysis.

by Spirals galore on Sep 20, 2010 6:28 AM PDT reply actions

saw the same thing spirals!

and his post game interview he was asked “what lies ahead for you this week” and jc replied “i dont know” those were his first words to that question! what? for me to have faith in him his answer should have been “get here at 5a.m. and get to working my ass off to get the starting job back” he already has that defeated aurora looming around him and that infectious energy will rub off on the team if he indeed starts this week.

Great point

except when JC fingered his belt he wasn’t pulling out skittles. I’d be lying if I said I didn’t notice the same thing.

Hey Noon!

Is it cool to email you later this week maybe by Wednesday since I’m not sure if Seymour will play or who the starter is going to be until then most likely? Hell with Oakland Cable may start Campbell again and bring in Grad from the bullpen to close it out.

HAHA!

Thanks. To reply to RUKIDDING, Clifton is a good player but is not the answer at LT. No need to trade for a 30+ year old tackle. Maybe we should trade away Henderson for whatever we can get right now. No 1st round picks next year so let’s load up on later round picks now before the deadline.

maybe get henderson some reps at guard?

gallery sure made a decent transition after failing at LT. and we could afford better play at the guard position aswell, especially with gallery going down these last to years. henderson wants to be nasty just cant handle that left side, so move him inside and let him bang it out.

by rodeosnake12 on Sep 20, 2010 10:39 AM PDT up reply actions

Not a bad idea

He won’t have to worry about those quick defensive ends in the middle.

by rightnasty on Sep 20, 2010 11:43 AM PDT up reply actions

I think it is paramount that we address the line issues now.

We need Madkins! It really doesn’t matter about the cost, because we are only giving Bruce $500,000 to QB. Trade Campbell now for a 4th next year. You might think I’m crazy, But I would trade Michael Bush right now for a 1st and a 3rd to address our line in next years draft. A lot of teams NEED a quality back.

Also, if he hasn’t already done it, Al Davis needs to give Chucky a call.

I didn’t see the score properly, but I did get close on some of the game details. The Raider run D performed above my expectations.

I will email you my take on the next game later this week, after I have consulted my charts.

Now i put up a post last week about Bruce starting and

I recieved hate from the naition.
Your logic is fn retarded. Bruce would have been on his ass to, and get over what he did in 2009 in a very small sample. This is all on the Oline. Im amazed how during the game everyone was on the lines ass but all of a sudden it’s JC’s fault? Do you want him to block 5 players and be the QB at the same time?-Dubzfan

Bruce did a great job getting away from Washintons rush last year, huh? Wait. No. He ended up with two torn MCL’s.
You talk about Bruce as if he’s the best QB in the NFL. Jason is going to be the starter next week. It’d be ludicrous to bench him for one bad game. A bad game that wasn’t even his fault.
Jesus Christ. What happens when we start Bruce and he see’s the same trouble? Do we give up all hope and trade him too.
What the shit happen to the Nation!? We give up on players faster than any other fans in the NFL.
Us as a Nation has become more of a critical group of douches. It’s irritating.-Jake

Sons, Mike, and Spirals were the only ones who had any sense.

by raiderfan21 on Sep 20, 2010 11:39 AM PDT reply actions

raiderfan21- Cable said he was going to what he had to win football games- Grad has a

much more accelerated understanding of the blocking protection or lack therof, JC needs to be given an opportunity, I agree, but, not at the expense of losing football games. This team’s development depends on a QB the nation can rally around. Grad is a better option at this point.

I like to believe that my best hits border on felonious assault.

Why are you blaming the Nation in general

When 62% of them agreed with you on your poll?

Fact is, they didn’t put enough effort into fixing the line, so now we’re stuck with it all season, so it’d practically be attempted murder to put Campbell back there again. Do we want him to end up in the hospital? Because too many more of those blind side hits, and he will be.

by rightnasty on Sep 20, 2010 11:48 AM PDT up reply actions

We have to let B.Campbell get some playing time.

Bush will be back next week although i really like DMAC hopefully Gallery will be back too Grads quick release and speed we could be alright for now.

by raiderfan21 on Sep 20, 2010 12:02 PM PDT up reply actions

So...

the perennial mediocre crap qb we signed in the off season is a bust.. as many of us knew he was going to be… he was garbage in Washington yet somehow he was gonna get better with this dysfunctional organization?? come on..now we are stuck with the same mediocre garbage qb we had last year with a worse O line and somehow this is supposed to be a good thing?? What world are people living in where this is a positive?? They barely beat the worst team in the NFL .. AT HOME.. it did not just get better..

by G_M on Sep 20, 2010 11:59 AM PDT reply actions

How do we have a worse Oline?

You forgot to mention a better defense who shut down Steven Jackson without our captain. A improved McFadden and Bey. A new MLB who body slams guys like they are nothing and laughs at the flag. A QB who believes in his team that’s right i said it his team.

It's about maximizing our strengths and covering our weaknesses. We have to play the best available player for the situation

and OC & DC have to out-think opponents constantly who will adjust to us as we find things that work. We have a shot at the playoffs (most of us believed we’d be 1-1 at this point) so don’t get all grim and negative, at least yet.

This is accurate.

Gradkowski masks the O-line and the coaching staff’s defencies whereas Campbell is still getting trying to acclimate himself to the team and playbook.

I have a feeling

the same will happen next week jc starts gets pulled bruce comes in an takes over
at the game jc almost looked hesitant passing with bruce we instantly had a better passing game

It was a much needed win at home and the crowd was loving it, i had a great time and look foward to more wins !

It is nothing new

for the Raiders to bring in a QB and have them sit on the bench until they learn the system. I’ve been a Raiders’ fan for many years and I’ve seen Stabler watch from the sidelines and Plunkett watched for a longtime before he was let loose to take over for the Raiders. Everyone thinks that Cambell taking over is an automatic thing well IMO I think he should sit back and learn to play better and maybe just maybe he can find all his receivers with no matter how much time he has. Grad seems to be finding anyone and everyone on the field with no problem.

I've been bleeding Silver and Black for 40 years its time they get back to playing Raider's football

by old raiderdude on Sep 20, 2010 3:51 PM PDT reply actions

gradn should be the starter hands down

jc is alright but he either needs more time to learn the system , get better timimg which has to be fast or to be traded and released he jus doesnt fit here shit happes but another quality qb does who he is im not sure but im also thankful for our blessings we could in all honesty have jawalrus out there still

Do you guys hear yourself???

You’re getting excited about Gradkowski!!! He is a perennial backup! If this was an organization with any talent.. he would be cut. But we are an organization with the longest double digit losing streak in NFL history! So fans get excited about mediocre crap like Gradkowski!!! wow.. this is just plain sad!!
