Tim Brown is going to be in the Hall Of Fame one day. He should have already been a hall of famer. Tim Brown is a finalist in this year's hall of fame balloting process. I simply can not believe that he wasn't voted in the first year of his eligibility, which was last year. I understand that there are just so many people that get in each year, but Tim Brown in the 90's and early 2000's was as much a staple for us as Jerry Rice was for the 49ers. Jerry Rice is the best WR in history in my opinion, and his stats were amazing. However, if Timmy had Joe Montana and Steve Young throwing it to him for over a decade maybe he would have had those records that Jerry has such a strangle hold on. Rich Gannon came in towards the end of Brown's career and showed what having a great QB could have been like for Tim's whole career. I'm not taking anything away from Jeff Hostletler but he was not in the same league as Montana or Young, let alone Rich Gannon. Even with mediocre QB play for at least half of his career, Tim Brown is still in the top 10 on many of Jerry Rice's records. He was just plain dominant. Even when the Raiders were not winning, he was succeeding. I know he never ended up getting a super bowl win, but if your not a QB that should not stop you from being a first ballot hall of famer. Tim Brown deserved to be a first ballot hall of famer.
You can count the players that had the type of impact for their teams on one hand as what Tim Brown did for the Raiders. He played hurt, he played sick, and when he played you could not cover him. I see him not already being in Canton Ohio as a slight against the Oakland Raiders. If Tim had played on the Steelers, or the Cowboys, or the 49ers during the 90's there is no question he would have been a first ballot hall of famer. I personally can't stand seeing number 81 being worn by any current Raider, and I like Schillens a lot. I don't know if the Raiders retire numbers but Tim Brown deserves it if we do. He is 4th all time in receptions, and sixth all time in reception TDs, and he was elected to 9 Pro Bowls and also was rookie of the year in 1988. He spent 16 years of his 17 year career playing for the Raiders. He has been overlooked long enough and deserves to get the respect and honor that he has earned. Hall of fame voters already should be ashamed for not voting him in last year, do not make the same mistake again. Give the man what he deserves, a spot in the hollows of history. Give him his spot in the Hall of Fame.
