I HAVE AN IDEA OF WHO I THINK WE WILL DRAFT THIS YEAR AND HOW THE DRAFT WILL PLAY OUT, LET ME KNOW WHAT YOU THINK, THESE DRAFTS ALSO INCLUDE FREE AGENT IDEAS AS WELL AS TRADES
2nd ROUND PICK 48TH OVERALL
Stefan Wisniewski G/C Pen State 6'3 297
-I for one have always been a fan of Wisniewski and judging from past read posts so is the rest of the Raider Nation. We all know how Al davis loves former Raiders as coaches and cant see how he wouldnt want family of a former Raider great. From all the analysis this good has all the intangibles and is ranked as the best center and 47th overall http://www.cbssports.com/nfl/draft/players/1272625 how fitting considering we draft 48th. I think this kid can be a star as our starting center, a position that at times this season was a huge problem.
3rd ROUND PICK 81ST OVERALL
Christian Bllard DT/DE Iowa 6'5 297
-Now many may think this is a stretch to be drafting a DE/DT so high considering how great of a year our defensive line had. This however is a pick that I feel will greatly compliment the group this season and in the coming years when the veterans such as Seymour and Henderson hang em up. 1st things first, what jumps out to me about this kid is how athletic he is which we all know Mr. Davis loves, secondly he does it all, he can rush the passer, good run defender, great pursuit skills, and a very very hard worker. That is the type of guy Seymour Kelly and Henderson can mentor as they have Shaughnessy and Houston. Third, Mike Wauffle is famous for loving to have 7-8-9 guys to rotate on the D-Line, this guy would be a great fit to rotate in the middle when Kelly or Seymour are winded, or to jump outside and use his skills with our rising playmakers Shaughnessy and Houston. And lastly his size reminds me of Seymour if he could add some weight. I see us giving Seymour a 3 year deal and him hanging them up after that season, and just think we will have Shaugnessy and Ballard who can be Seymour type players and the Bull Lamarr Houston and whatever DT we find after Kelly hangs em up anchoring our D-line for the next 10 years. http://www.cbssports.com/nfl/draft/players/1243676
4TH ROUND PICK 98TH OVERALL from Seattle for Robert Gallery (i see a sign and trade nba style so he can be with daddy cable) (AL rarely lets his players go for nothing in return)
Marcus Gilbert OT Florida 6'5 320
-With Veldheer holding down the Left Tackle position, I see us taking this kid from Florida to hold down the Right tackle position. He can do it all, Big strong, quick feet, pretty athletic for his size, and what many scouts call him that we as Raiders fan have been dying for, RELIABLE! Scouts say he is projected late 3rd / early 4th which is where I think we snag him. He's very strong which I feel compliments Hues powerblocking system and we dont have to worry about him getting run by like Langston literrally WALKer, this kid has a quick 1st lateral step which is key in this league. Also with Veldheer at LT, and I see us making a strong strong strong push for Logan Mankins if there even is free agency, then Wisniewski at C, BRUUUCE at RG and Gilbert at RT, we have a young strong hopefully reliable O-Line that will be in tact for years to come. http://www.cbssports.com/nfl/draft/players/1114672
4TH ROUND PICK 112TH OVERALL
Jaiquawn Jarrett S Temple 6'2 195
-I know I'll probably get an uproar for this pick, the truth is I LIKE MIKE HUFF! but players like this dont come around very often at the safety position, Size(AL LOVES) SPEED(AL LOVES) BALL HAWK( AL LOVES) HARD HITTER (AL LOVES) He can do it all but with the lack of competition he is projected to fall to the 4th round. He has great size and amazing insticts at the safety position, hasn't played alot of man but has the speed and coverage skills that should assist him in that, also a great zone coverage guy(even though we rarely play it). Also loves to attack the run, it gets him in trouble at times but we have been looking for guys to attack the line of scrimmage..hints Mike Mitchell who should see more playtime..But the thing that seperates this kid is his tackling ability, he's a very reliable tackler who can also lay the wood. With Jarret Mitchell Huff and Branch and Brown, we will have a loaded Safety position depth chart so I see us moving Huff to CB or to another team. I like this kid Jarret though, he could be another 4th round steal hints MIKE BUSH, JACOBY FORD. http://www.cbssports.com/nfl/draft/players/1243265
5th ROUND PICK 145TH OVERALL
Justin Rogers CB Richmond 5'10 182
-I had originally hoped we would take DeAndre Brown but without a veteran I see us in the same position considering he's injury prone, also I had hoped we'd take owen Morecic, I love that kid but I see us passing him up, judging from Al's press conference, he loves Marcel Reese, he needs some more blocking skills but he can learn. So I look at our position of need, and CB pops into my head and so does this kid. Not huge at the corner position but good enough size,LIGHTNING speed (AL WILL TAKE HIM) and a great cover corner. Had he not played at Richmond and say a D1 school, I see this kid being a 2nd or 3rd round pick, but being in the CAA he will fall. Many analysis say this kid knows how to play the ball has no problem tackling. He has very good ball skills and is considered a shutdown corner, no QB's throw his way, sound familiar, this year he posted 48 tackles 2 picks and 2 forced fumbles, not bad for never being tested. He's a bigtime playmaker and is also a punt returner which we need to compliment Jacoby who returns Kickoffs. He had 12 ints in college and was considered the ultimate threat, he also played a few packages on offense. He could be a great steal in the draft. http://www.cbssports.com/nfl/draft/players/1258550
6th ROUND PICK 176TH OVERALL
-Mike Mohamed LB CAL 6'3 235
With Quentin Groves struggling a majority of the year to his new position at olb instead of DE, it looked like a weakness a majority of games. With McClain and Wimbley playing well last year, they will only get better and thats where this kid fits in. He's big, good game speed, nose for the ball, is durable and is a sure tackler. He will probably start as a special teamer but I feel with the oppurtunity he could be a steady reliable starter on our front 7. He's not a WOW player, wont lay the wood but wont let you out of his grasp. He could be a great value pick here. http://www.cbssports.com/nfl/draft/players/1114195
7TH ROUND PICK
Tyrod Taylor QB Virginia Tech 6'1 215
-At this position, we are going to have a choice between Taylor or Tolzein who we want Jason to mentor. I would prefer Taylor. He's athletic, exciting, smart, strong armed, and fast as hell. Will need to learn how to read defenses but that shouldnt be a problem with Campbell, Hue, and Saunders teaching him. Though he doesnt know how to read a lot of defenses, many QB's in the NFL dont know how and they start every game lol. He doesnt make many mistakes, only 5 ints this year. He's a very hard worker and is very confident. He would be a great project QB if he falls to us here. http://www.cbssports.com/nfl/draft/players/1243338
Free agency wise, I see Al making strong pushes for Vincent Jackson, or Sydney Rice, as well Ochocinco, maybe sending DHB and 3rd next season for Chad Ochocinco considering they are only asking for a midround pick. I love OCHO though many of you may hate him, his antics cause no harm just laughs and he is widely respected around the league. If we were to get him that would be a huge upgrade at the receiver position where we would have a reliable #1 who could teach our young talented group.
So the Oakland Raiders send DHB AND 2012 3RD ROUND PICK TO THE CINCINATTI BENGALS FOR CHAD OCHOCINCO.
