That's one of the all-time greats
You couldn’t ask for a better bully then Wiz!
He was a FEARED O-Lineman. People did not want to line up across the line from that guy because he hurt you every chance he got, he attacked in his blocking and that’s something our guys could definately use.

Excellent news.
I feel like we’re taking as big a steps as we did last offseason. This year should be fun.
not to pick nits....
but all the reports i have seen, including the Raiders web site are listing him as Assistant O-line coach.dont know why they would only make him an assistant and we still dont have an O-line coach, unless they already have someone on the hook and cant say yet because they are with one of the Super bowl teams?

still in all
a great addition.Raiders O-lines have traditionally been the best in the league.from the days of Art shell Gene Upshaw and Jim Otto to Steve Wisniewski and Barret Robbins.non of these guys ever got pushed around and if they got beat on one play you better belive the guy that beat them would be paying for it on the next.a good offencive line attacks its opponents.
"The time is now"
Hue Jackson
Mr. Kennedy
will be the O-Line coach!
Seriously though I do not think Mr. Wisniewski has the experience yet to be the lead O-Line coach, maybe in a few years; who knows maybe he gets promoted in a year.
Hue as HC
Al as OC
Wauffle as DL coach
Wiz as asst O-Line coach
Al and Hue are forming a formidable coaching unit!
Raiders Nation’s Domination of the NFL in 2011!
Great news!
So far the staff is looking great! Can’t wait to how he does with the line, Veldheer, and what effect he has on this year’s draft!

Steve Wisniewski
Why isn’t Wiz ever mention in HOF conversation? are we or have we under promote this guy or what? this guy was just a “stud” flat out.. AWESOME!!!!! GO RAIDERS!!!!
I agree
He should be in the HOF,
I think the constant neglect of Mr. Cliff Branch, Mr. Jim Plunkett, and especially Mr. Ray Guy as well as the current finalist status of Mr. Tim Brown is the reason for Mr. Steve Wisniewski from getting any consideration, in fact Mr. Kennedy should be considered as well.
add Lester Hayes, Jack Tatum and Kenny Stabler to that list. The fact is, the Raiders are slighted by the HOF voters
but in time their accomplishments on the field will be acknowledged once the HOF committee’s membership dies off and is replaced by men less influenced by the Raider’s historical “stigma”

This Is From Yahoo Sports
He could coach again this season. A team executive noted that’s up to Fisher, but the coach wouldn’t speculate when asked if he might work on television for a season.
"I think I need the rest. Those that coach 10 years that take a year off are three times better coaches … in year 11. I’m going to take time," Fisher said.
Yeah, all the teams are now coached-up; the Titan's owner did a number on Ol' Jeff

Definately
in fact other teams are now on high alert
teams who figured they could get Steve’s nephew out of Penn St. in the late 20’s or early part of the second have to be mindful that Al is already working on moving up to get him.
I hope the Raiders still sign Satele & Barnes, as a back up thye makes our O-Line very deep, Satele played great 2nd half.
Our interior line could consist pf
LT Wisniewski Vehldeer Campbell RT
or even our entire new Offensive line could be:
Vehldeer Mankins Satele Wisniewski Campbell
Great signing

The RaiderNation as a Whole......
Is smiling right now !!!! I know I am !!! Now we see that Hue DEFINITELY has a plan to fulfill his idea of what we, the Original Nation, and i’m sure Al D. wants & expects !!! SEGWAY…..New York Jets denied the Raiders from interviewing Dennis Thurman !!!! Wow !!! For one, I hadn’t even considered him for the DC, if thats the job he had in mind for him. Thought he was a DB coach !!! Can anyone elaborate on this ??? Jeff Fisher name HAS to be considered in the conversation, although he comes across as a tad bit arrogant, and considering he’s been a head coach for so long, this might be a blow to his ego, far as becoming a DC. And the fact that no other names have been brought up, other than Winston Moss(another ex-Raider) the idea that prospects might STILL be coaching, leaves me to wonder if this isn’t the most sound thinking in years !!!! Building a bully, with bullyesque type of coach’s. I Like It !!!
Great move!
I want to see Wiz put Bruce Campbell under his meat hooks and make a d-lineman shitting beast of a guard out of him!
That should start now. They should just be roommates for the offseason.
Drunk by noon, but that's okay--I'll be president someday.
Tackle could still be in the works
should Mr. Bruce Campbell still be in that great shape, strong and as fast as he was, with the Raiders going back to their roots> primarily to a power blocking scheme. I could see Bruce being the fiercest and most dominating Tackle in the NFL!
I agree..
B,Campbell to LT and Veldheer to RG or RT.get Stefen at C or RG.who know’s they may even be able to move Gallery back to LT?
"The time is now"
Hue Jackson
He was regarded as a huge project coming out of college.
Looked great getting off the bus, but very raw. It may be that he is best suited for a guard spot. Veldheer made real progrees at LT. Let’s leave him be as we saw what the lack of continuity and position changing (RT then LT) did for Gallery. He fianlly settled in at Guard which is where he should stay.
Don't shoot, I'm a man.
Now Soup, under Wisniewski's guidance, can excellerate his development. I see him on the right side - where we
run more and the QBs front side – either RG or RT.

It will be nice to see him play
so we can gauge who he is and what he is! Would be great to get that right side solidified. I have to say though that Carlisle was much better this year with Walker along side him than with Green last year. Still, need to be better at RG & RT.
Don't shoot, I'm a man.

I really like this move, for a number of reasons
First, even as ‘just’ Assistant OL coach, focusing solely on the OG’s, he should bring not only technique, but instill some nastiness. Gallery can be at times, but I think that he never really developed that. Even with an inexperienced Campbell at RG, with his physical attributes and plenty of individual attention from Wisniewski, should be a tremendous upgrade.
With only a new, stronger C, and the same crap from the RT position, the line should be greatly improved.
The other aspect that I love about this move is that not only is an experienced, accomplished former player brought in as a coach, but one that screams ‘Raiders’! There is something that you cannot discount about bringing back players as coaches; it shows off the organization, something that has been overlooked recently.
Failure builds character; success reveals it

Wiz...
I’m still smiiiling, DAMN IT, I LOVE IT. GO RAIDERS!!!!
This is wonderful for young Campbell, first and foremost
Wisniewski played with a chip on his shoulder even though he was a high pick. Campbell has one already from Cable’s fractured confidence in the young man. Now, with Steve helping out, Campbell will start to play with two chips on his shoulder. Steve will make sure the young man is a balanced beast.

just like Steve himself used too!
I love it when we bring in former Raiders players as coaches, now bring in Winston Moss for DC and we;ll be ready for action.

F'ing Legend
Wiz is why i liked playing O-Line because he brought attitude of a d-man with how he got in everyone’s face and would not stop, let’s hope this helps bring his nephew in from Penn State, especially if Gallery follows cabes to the seagulls. Also plus one for the Mr. Socko comment.
Yes Yes YES
Welcome home, Wiz. Teach Veldheer how to be a mean, nasty bastard. Show Satele how to mentally defeat the guy lined up across from him before the opening kick. Bodies will be flying. Fuck. Yes.
Silver & Black Bullys!!!!
I pray that it will not be a work stopage,Raider Nation is on the verge of greatness! Mr.Davis its time u step aside & let Hue do his job.Raider Nation is not a community, its a world wide movement & a way of life!!! walk it! talk it! breath it!
Ungrateful wretch. Al Davis was the mastermind behind last years draft - he ran it (both Hue and Al confirmed it) and Al is
collaborating with Hue, it’s a joint effort. Hue is no fool, he knows that Al knows a ton and can’t help but be involved, so he’s working with him in a productive and positive way. This isn’t about anything else than winning and doing it in the Raider manner, i.e. brutalize, intimidate, und dominate.

Yup.
If we see major reaches etc, that is exactly what I will say. This last draft actually made sense in terms of where guys were drafted, their football acumen etc. If you say Cable had nothing to do with last year’s draft then no other coach, including new lovebug Hue has anything to do with the draft. This make Al even more responsible for the mishandling of this club in recent years.
Don't shoot, I'm a man.
We know how close Jim Otto is to Al Davis. During Day-2 of of last season's draft, Otto told us (Saint, Spirals)
how important a MLB is to a 4-3 Defense. Now, would Jim Otto had said that if the idea and push was Cable’s, and not Al’s, idea? Probably not. And while I do believe that Veldheer was Cable’s find, I do not believe that Jacoby was. So Cable had some input but it wasn’t his draft, imho.

So Cable couldn't see Morrison wasn't cutting it?
We ALL saw that. I think Cable had more input than Al would like us to believe (that doesn’t mean Cable did the draft himself). That’s the way he always spins it, you know that. Like I said, when we watch the draft and we don’t end up with reaches and goofs, I’ll give kudos to Al. When it all goes wacky, like usual, I’ll know (I hope we all know and will readily admit) who to point the finger at and who to give a little more credit to for last year’s draft.
Don't shoot, I'm a man.
i think i love him
being the assistant rather than the head ol coach. he can work more individually with each lineman to up their game one by one instead of working on implementing their schemes and working as a group. him being one of the best OL men would better suit him how to teach and train each member of our line to fix their flaws and be better so when theyre in unison, theyre unstoppable
Wanna make a bet
That Gallery is headed to Seattle??
Which will be fine when we draft Wisniewski 2.0 and give #76 to it’s rightful owner.
I’m totally fine with this if it happens. Gallery makes too much to be playing Guard for us, especially when there is a possible better option out there.

Gallery is the real vet with experience and knows Raider football so he is a step ahead of players who might replace him.
What Gallery needs to do is play the leader of the line like Seymore is for the defensive line. I believe that with Gallery the offensive line will continue to improve to a playoff standard provided that the repairs to the o-line are completed.
Physically unreliable
and inconsistent play. Was a mentor to Veldheer this year BUT with Wisneiwski there I don’t think we need the mentoring much more. If Gallery takes a reasonable contract offer I will give him a shot but if it is over $3 mill/year and 5 years I say no.
Never underestimate the predictability of stupidity.

He seemed to play well this year
but the injury issue makes me apprehensive. I think he was pulling it out for a contract this past year. It will also depend on what he wants $$ and # of years too. As usual it is a depends situation and not complete blind stupidity that should guide that decision.

OK, so now we have 2 O-line coaches in Wiz and Wylie.
Can someone tell me what’s going on? One is the primary coach and the other the secondary coach?
If you must know, Wisniewski is the one-on-one coach helping with individual technique and tactics while Wylie deals with whole line
choreography, synchronization and strategy as well as personnel.

Whizz is back !!!
Okay, folks get your season tickets early this year, it ‘s gonna get crazy !! If anybody in recent years can put a dent, in the line strategy for the team, it is probably Steve. Steve was good for recognition, and beating (UP) the offensive line to a point on the field, so in that we are in good hands. He was also good at attacking, instead of waiting to see which direction the line was moving. At times it looked like he was dictating where the line would have to go. It looked to me last season, that players did not recognize how to play the down in many cases. That was one of my own peeves about our o- line. Now, what I am looking for, is improvement on the o-line. I want more attacking of the opponents defense, not trying to slip through it. We look to be heading in the right direction from what I am reading, so far so good. I already can’t wait for the new season, begin.
