Give Kyle Boller a chance.

First fanpost.  Don't chew me out if I screw up.

As a fanbase, we had pretty much accepted Jason Campbell heading into Sunday's game.  We were comfortable with him and thought we could win.  Then he broke his collarbone, and we learned he will be out for at least 6 weeks, possibly the season.  Bad timing; the Raiders are now 4-2 and only a half game behind.  Kyle Boller is 2nd on the depth chart, with Terrelle Pryor 3rd.

Hue Jackson has said that Boller will start this week at home when Kansas City walks into town.  Ignore the QB shopping that will happen this week.  Whoever comes in will probably have to spend at least a week learning the offense.  Pryor is not the answer at this.  He has had almost no practice and showed up to the last game in sweatpants.

Boller may yet mess up.  I myself cringed when he came in against the Browns.  He seemed to be fulfilling my expectations, missing badly and generally sucking at first.  But he settled down and made some excellent throws, including one to Schilens that was a thing of beauty.  He finished 8 for 14 for 100 yards; not bad for a backup who got almost no snaps in practice.

We should give him a chance to step up this weekend.  It's the best possible opportunity for a start: At home against a team missing its star RB that we beat last year without OUR star RB.  We can't turn into Denver fans and crap all over our starter.

If you're at the game, don't yell for Pryor if he screws up at first.  With fans in the game, anything is possible - and Oakland has the best fans.
