Raiders Sign S Chinedum Ndukwe
Sorry to break up the flow of our discussion about the future of the QB position for the Oakland Raiders, but I have some other news to report. According to his Twitter page, safety Chinedum Ndukwe has signed with he Raiders. Last week NFL Network's Jason La Canfora reported that Ndukwe had a workout for the Raiders, along with several other players.
Ndukwe was originally drafted by the Bengals in 2007 and played with them until last year when he tore his MCL. In 53 career games Ndukwe has managed to rack up 257 tackles, 7.5 sacks, 6 INTs, 3 FRs, and 18 PDs. At 6'2" 225 lbs. Ndukwe has a similar build to Mike Mitchell.
The Raiders have not confirmed this transaction or made a corresponding roster move to make room for Ndukwe, but my guess would be that S Ron Parker would be the odd-man out. Ndukwe may also push Jerome Boyd for playing time.
So welcome Chinedum Ndukwe to the Raider Nation!

perhaps
we’re compensating for the loss of campbell by bolstering our D, as opposed to finding a new starting qb…makes sense to me seeing as the Boller is definitely our best option at QB (no qb we sign week 6 is going to come in and play better than a qb who’s been with us as long as Boller has). If we can keep the opposing team to 17 or under – and score with the run/screens/special teams/occasional deep ball we’ll be ok.
This made me want Mcdonalds, cuz im lovin it!
Great stats for only 53 games and a playmaking safety that size is awesomeness incarnated.

As much as our DC plays nickel and dime, this makes sense. Also shows Hue is serious about our rush defense

Sounds like a good pick up, kudos to Hue, but only time will tell. In the meantime we have another problem at hand.

Porter first, then Tonga, should be sacrificed if Gordon or Reece are ready to play

Blackstock is raw too, so he isn’t going anywhere. It will be either Joe Porter, Ron Parker

He is pretty good
I guess injuries are the only reason he was an FA. He must have been rehabbing because young talented safeties with starting experience aren’t FA’s for long. Now he’s healthy and he adds to our arsenal of defensive weapons. I expect to see the safety blitzes to keep coming. Huff, Branch, Mitchell, Giordano, Boyd, and now Ndukwe. That’s a pretty stacked group.

Welcome
GO RAIDERS!!

sweet pick up!
does this mean Huff will be the permanent nickel CB, or even the #2?
"In football, I root for the Oakland Raiders because they hire castoffs, outlaws, malcontents, and f*ck -ups, they have lots of penalties, fights, and paybacks, and because Al Davis told the rest of the pig NFL owners to go get f*cked... Someday, the Raiders will be strong again, and they will dip the ball in **** and shove it down the throats of the wholesome, white, heartland teams that pray together and don't deliver late hits"

"I'll do anything to score a touchdown. And I'm not afraid like some people, their afraid to call those plays. I'm not. That's the way I like to live my life, I like to live on the edge. And that's the way it is, and that's the way it's gon' be."

They are turning Parker into a CB
Could be Parker but Parker is playing corner for us. They cut Sterling Moore to bring in Parker and then they cut Joey Porter. Something tells me they must really like Parker’s potential as a cornerback. Huff is playing a lot of corner though so you never know, we could go with only 4 corners. We dont need 6 safeties regardless, I’m guessing Giordano or Boyd will be cut fairly soon.
We Saw That "52" Again This Week...Could It Be That We See It Even More???
5 man front
DeathRo-n-Curry
4 "S"s..?? or 2 "CB"s n 2 “S” set?
That 4 “S” thing would prolly be great against a run team like “KC”…
keep the 5-2 fronts coming, our defensive line is the heart and soul of the D
I love all of the blitz looks Bres is throwing as well, just letting his freakish athletes loose on the field, similar to how Hue and Saunders have built the offense. Ndukwe seems (by description) to be yet another naturally talented player to fit well in this scheme, or at least another special teams monster.

I've seen a lot of Ndukwe over the years here in Cincy
He’s a decent player but his playing time came more as a result of injuries and lack of better options than him being a good player. I’ve liked him a lot but his injury last year prevented him from being an opening-day roster option. He got a sniff by the Giants last week too.
I’m not sure who we get let go though. Boyd has played well enough and knows the defense that this signing (if it’s even real) makes sense. Tonga goes back to the PS when Reece is healthy again, which would open up a roster space. Haven’t heard though how Reece is progressing.
Good pickup!
better than gio and boyd.

Nice move.
Girlfriend: So the guy who catches the ball is the catcher, right?
Me: No. They are called wide-receivers. Catchers play baseball.
Girlfriend: Samething.
