I know everyone is going bonkers about the next QB to either step up or be added, but should there be a change in the receiving corps? I'm sure everyone has heard that Pro Bowl Receving Yard Champion WR Brandon Lloyd has been traded today for next to nothing to the St. Louis Rams on account of his poor season and unhappiness with the Ponies. Lloyd was added and another WR was taken on off the Rams' roster and he could bolster the Raiders...Rams released WR Mike Sims-Walker. 6'2", 212, and at age 26, Sims-Walker could be a great possession receiver for the Raiders. But, who will be receiving less targets? It seems that the receiving corps is full with DHB emerging, Moore continuing to be outstanding, Schilins staying healthy, Murphy also healthy, and Ford continuing to be a play maker (not to mention Hagan making some strides).
For this season, Sims-Walker only has 11 receptions for 139 yards, but in 2010, he posted 43 receptions for 562 in 13 games. Now, these numbers are not steller, but the year before he posted even greater numbers. He is still young and is developing. At the moment he is definitely serviceable at the least. He would most likely come cheap and could come in to fit well if we decide to send Murphy away as a trade piece for someone like McNabb or Orton.
"Done been thru a lot and pretty sure I'm gone go thru a lot more but I promise I have no brakes!!!! #imnotstopping" -Mike Sims-Walker's twitter page.
He could fit the possession receiver role well for the Raiders. Now what does the nation think?
