Oakland Raiders' Darren McFadden is Getting Closer

Raiders' running back Darren McFadden has ditched the boot...kind of. This comes to us via Steve Corkran:

Jackson said McFadden was out of the protective boot on his right foot when Jackson saw McFadden this morning. He added that McFadden still might be using the boot off and on.

This is far from a clean bill of health, but at least it is a sign of progress. There is still no indication of when McFadden will take the field.

This quote from Hue Jackson sheds some light on the subject, and also comes to us via Corkran:

I know we’re getting closer to getting him back out here. I know he’s working his tail off. When I saw him this morning, he looked good. Until we get closer later on in the week and we know exactly where he is, I don’t want to speculate.

Jackson doesn't want to speculate, but I have no problem doing so. Don't expect McFadden on the field against the Vikings. That is just too much progress to expect from a player. Six days seems like an unlikely timetable for someone to go from a part-time boot wearer to an NFL running back.

A realistic goal is to have McFadden on the O.co turf when the Raiders take on the Bears in Week 12.

Raider Nation, all hand's on deck or get the hell off the ship! That's the way it's gonna be around here from now on! If a 7th & 5th round pick gets you Aaron Curry (a former 4th overall 1st rd. pick) instead of a couple of crap-shoots a year later, then fine and if dealing away a couple of first rounder's gets you a proven franchise quarterback like Carson Palmer and a legitimate shot at the playoffs, then great, you know why? Because our team is standing behind it's motto & legacy, "Just Win Baby!" and "Commitment to Excellence" instead of "Suck for Luck" and "Give Up". Imagine if you were a fan of a team that actually bought into that!?!

Agreed, last week proved we can still dominate the run game w/o him

our offensive line has been brilliant this year. and with our beastly blocking tight ends and tackle elidgable sets, we can win without him (although it didnt look like it against KC and Den). I would hate to get him for 2-3 quarters and then him have some kind of season ending injury

Tonight

Rest DMC please. I watched things on 2 teams tonight, we can beat the Vikings by passing and a strong defense. The Bush and Jones Tandam will put a hurt on the Vikes also. If we can have the defense we had against the bolts we will be fine, Vikes QB don’t like pressure and we know how to give it. Holly Crap AP only got 51 feaking yards, we can do this.

the vikings looked bad against Green Bay, secondary played horrible, and the offense was none existent....

teams like that we have to beat, no if ands or buts about it…..

I refuse to look past their defense though

and I hope our Offense respects them. PROTECT CARSON!!! Jared Allen is the real deal and it can be a long long day if he gets rolling. He got to Aaron Rodgers, and if it weren;t for the caliber level player he is, it could have affected his game. Carson has proven to throw INTs and fumble when under intense pressure. O-line has got to play top-level to contain that threat.

Beware the vikings

The vikes will be pissed and they are at home. If the Raiders dont take this seriously, and play mistake free AP and Allen will takeover. We need to run the ball. We are not the passing machine that GB is. If Hue abandons the run in favor of the pass, we wont win. Allen is on a tear and letting him T-off on Palmer would be a big mistake. We probably wont have DMac so using our TE and Reece is imperative.

abso-f^$%ing lutely!!!!!!

With our back to back divisional losses against DEN and KC, we came out hot and outright destroyed SD (less a few miracle catches by Vincent Brown). We cannot be lackadaisical in our approach to MIN and I hope this team is just as focused as we were last week. Minnesota is going to be red hot after monday nights embarassment. Especially considering they almost pulled off a win against GB during week 7 27-33 loss. This team has the talent to play and beat the best. Their record is a mirage and this team is due a win and we gotta hope its not against us.

We cannot look past anyone

We are not the Packers and we cannot afford to take our foot off the gas pedal even for a second from here on out. Looking at games in the future and analyzing schedules at this point is not going to tell us much as the landscape of the NFL changes from week to week which is what makes the NFL so entertaining. There are no teams that are going to roll over for us and we have to play each game like the playoffs depend on it.

You know what would make a good story? Something about a clown who makes people happy, but inside he's real sad. Also, he has severe diarrhea.

Exactly

You would think that some of the results we have experienced this season would have woken up some people around here to the fact that every game is a danger game for this team. We have the potential to compete with anyone but we have also been wildly inconsistent and at times we have been a down right dumb team.

Looking At The Highlights It Was Obvious That Rivers Had To Hold That "Pig" Too Long!!!

Some of these were “Coverage Sacks”….Even when he looked down field and tried to scramble because no one was open…The heat was there and he didn’t have time to find his targets….

True , im stoked. Just tryin not to give my hopes up on which Raiders D is going to show up from week to week

Also the Charger Oline has been injured all year and we just made things a whole lot worse! That being said , most of the game we got pressure immediately. When you look at teams that have a decent offensive line and we cant bring the pressure right away, those teams have picked are secondary apart. I’ve been waiting for Woodson to get things straightened out back there. Im sure the injury’s haven’t helped in doing that.

What Kind Of Vikes Team Are We Likely To Face???

“KC” is done…The “Vikes” know their done….That “Donkey” hangs on for life on a prayer…“SD” is steadily sinking and don’t know who to blame…

We have all been there before!!!…

Meanwhile we are enjoying a resurgence that carries the hope of momentum and glory…This team is up and their fans are up as well…

2-n-7 without hope is “Done”…4-n-5 without your “QB” and a horrific schedule to finish the season is “Done”…

Now that doesn’t mean that some players and fans will not be die hards and keep fighting to the bitter end…I resemble that!!!…But soon after getting behind the wind comes out of their sails and it’s damn near imposible to keep the emotion up and the fight inside…That’s just “Sports Psychology” and it affects us all and most certainly affects a team sport like football where all it takes is a few to drag the entire team down…

As we all well know

So they prolley won’t be in it for 4 complete quarters???

You never want to lose but when there’s no hope it’s also very tough to stay focused and keep giving it your all threw the pain…That’s just the psychological battle that takes place in all sports…So I’m just saying that if we can get a lead on them they may not have it in themselves to play 4 full quarters….Did you think the Vikes gave their all to the very end of that blowout at the hands of “GB”???….

I sure as hell don’t!!!

We have all been there before…The wind comes out of your sails and hopelessness sets in…Keep looking for an opportunity for something to happen as you sink deeper and deeper into despair…That’s the team we will prolley face with a short week for them to get up for us…

Plus they have a new injury to deal with…Lost for the season…

by PantyRaider on Nov 15, 2011 10:47 AM PST reply actions

It's too bad we won't get to see McFadden vs Peterson.

But I’m just hoping the Raiders take the Vikings seriously. Sure, they’re a 2-7 team that we SHOULD beat. But Denver was a 2-5 team that we should have beat. And Peterson is way better than anything the Broncos had to offer.

We can’t play down to the record. We need to treat every game like it’s a playoff game from here on out.

That "Donkey" Was A Weird Bread For Sure But That's The Exception...."KC" Tried To Be Also...

They were in despair because of Orton’s piss poor play and all those religiously sponsored billboards demanding them to become the “Tebowncos”…They did it and to the amazement of all it’s working…But really very short lived…It’s now over!!!

A weak ass Miami team collapsed at the end and gave them one…Than they were thrown to the lions and devoured…We came along in flux and injured and gave it up to them in the 2nd half…Than they got a damaged “Squaw” who lost their “QB” and were inept themselves while trying to do an impersonation of a contender…But now the Jets will take away all that they have left and leave them to ponder next season a little early…

The Vikes are also playing with a new “QB” but there’s no fire in his spirit and nothing to get them up to believing that they still can…They now know they are done…Indisputable…I really don’t expect allot out of them as a team…As individual players I fully expect to see some giving it their all…But not as a team and that’s what it takes to win…

Just my perception…

by PantyRaider on Nov 15, 2011 11:12 AM PST up reply actions

I think airing it out will have to happen

No one game defines a team. The Vikes will play hard and Oakland should expect the best defense possible from Minnesota. I think they will definitely try to shut down the run and I also believe they can. If the blocking fails, Bush is not fast enough to hit the outside. Jones is fast enough, but doesn’t block well, and is still a rookie. Palmer is gong to need to be protected well to maximize the WR’s abilities. If he is, I think Palmer can light these fools up. Defensively, of course you pressure the rook with different schemes, bring the blitz, and stack the box. AP is a beast, the best back in the league. He should be handled like the Raiders did to Arian Foster. IF we can stop AP, victory will follow. However, shit, that dude is good.

by lakers007raiders on Nov 15, 2011 12:57 PM PST reply actions

I certainly think that we should try to take advantage of their weakened secondary

But we must not abandon the run game as the threat of the run is what makes those safeties cone up and open up those deep balls we were able to get last week. I have full faith in C3TD but no matter how you splice it over his career he has been prone to throwing INT’s especially in later in games where he is throwing the ball a lot like 30 – 35 times not sure if it is fatigue or not but it seems to be a consistant pattern I don’t think we should ever be far away from a 50:50 run pass split and I think Carson is most effective at around 25 attempts.

He’ll get it here, hopefully. Bush is a lock for ground player. I dunno about Wimbley, although 4 sacks should get him it too.

This can only be excellent news for us Raider fans who have waited so long for a QB/WR combo that could produce at a Pro Bowl level.

Ron Wolf has strong recommendation for Raiders GM
Former Green Bay Packers general manager Ron Wolf said in an interview that former Raiders linebacker Reggie McKenzie would be an ideal fit as the Raiders general manager.
Wolf, who also used to work for the Raiders, said McKenzie, the Packers director of football operations, is an astute judge of talent and every bit as qualified as former Packers general manager Ted Thompson.
"Reggie’s a tremendous evaluator," Wolf told the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel. "He can tell you who can play and who can’t play. That’s what it’s all about. Some can write reports but can’t tell you who can play. Whatever that is, he has that. He has a feel."
